Founded in 1988 as Digital Cable Radio by David Del Beccario, it started out with just eight audio channels. Today, the count is nearing one hundred.
Most people have either heard of or at least listened to Music Choice via their digital cable subscriptions, but a lot had no idea that an app existed, myself included, until my nephew-in-law told me about it a few years ago. Game changer!
The app includes the exact same genres of music found on the TV plus a few more that aren't available on the tube. Favorites of mine include Pop & Country, 80's, 90's, Smooth Jazz, Dance/EDM, Soft Rock, R&B Soul, Throwback Jamz, Y2K and Soundscapes.
PROS:
+ included with your paid cable subscription
+ plays curated-stations, not playlists
+ ad-free
CONS:
- turns off after 4-hours
- no explicit content
- you can't shuffle stations
- songs repeat after a while
UPGRADES:
There is a subscription plan available called what else, Music Choice Plus. It enables you to select specific songs/artists/videos and listen offline on your TV and device.
Music Choice Karaoke, at an additional fee, turns your TV into a karaoke screen.
Music Choice Relax, yet another for-pay feature, adds scenic and serene videos to your TV screen (mobile coming soon) along with audio. Meditation leads also available.
TIP:
In Hawaii, one of the TV channels plays Hawaiian music. Too bad it's not available on the app for all to enjoy.
OVERALL:
