Student's opinion: Jackie L. I am a flute player and…read moreregular customer of Laconia. (I've been taking lessons and playing for over five years and I'm doing NYSSMA level 5, so I kinda need a good teacher; so I went to Laconia). I've tried taking lessons with other people who were just plain out...not good...(no offense other peoples)......and don't even get me started with really unreasonable prices!! For beginner flute lessons?!?! SO, to be honest, I've been spending WAYYYY too much of my time here, I mean, I used to take, what, three lessons here EVERY FRIDAY. Why, you ask? Because I'm rather musical, and their prices are totally affordable! I got my flute fixed twice and got it gold plated for a pretty good price at Laconia. The teachers are very well rounded, and they sure do know their stuff! The owner, Ray, is very knowledgable about musical instruments, and just music itself. He's a very friendly and honest guy. If there is anything to say Laconia, it would be that they are not a business that revolves around money; Laconia is very musical place with friendly people, good prices on rental instruments/lessons, and Ray definitely knows how to fix an instrument! #great #music #place #love #them #thumbs #up :D ^_^ Parent's opinion: How often can you say, there is an honest music school/center? The owner, Ray, is a very down-to-earth type of person. My children took numerous lessons at Laconia for quite a few years. Over the years, I had the opportunity to know some of the music teachers as well as the staff. Overall comment: very friendly and helpful. We purchased a professional flute, a Haynes, over the summer for my daughter. When she noticed a leak in one of the pads, I went to several reputable/licensed flute repair music shops and the techs said that it needed an OVERHAUL! Granted, it was a used flute and the seller at the reputable place we bought it from (I will not disclosed their name cause the review is for Laconia) in the city, the flute was supposedly "good for many years." It wasn't even a year, eight months to be exact, and she uses her Haynes solely for home. The flute teacher didn't think it needed an overhaul but to check the leak, my instinct flagged something was not right. So, I called Laconia to see if Ray would take a look. He told me to come right in. When I got there, he stopped whatever he was doing, and he remembered I had bought the flute just a few months ago. After several minutes of examining and reexamining the body, his appraisal was that it didn't need an overhaul and there was a leak in one of the pads. He ended up doing minor repair on one of the pads. My daughter played the instrument after that, and guess what, no-more leaks. Bottom line, if you want an honest second opinion about major repair on your instrument(s), Laconia is a place you may want to go to.

The guitar tech at other shop kept trying to fix the electronics in my guitar, It kept failing. 3 different times I brought it into the other shop, and each time the tech there said it was something different. So after the 4th time, something went wrong with the electronics, and $150 later, I decided to find another shop. Enter Centerstage Music. I met Greg. he was friendly and helpful. He took the guitar apart right in front of me and said let check out the wiring, it might not need anything(He was trying to save me money on electronics, instead of trying to sell them me). I stopped him and explained after getting the run around from the other guy I just wanted to replace the electronics just so I didn't have to worry about them, plus it was an upgrade. He understood. In less than 18 hours he texted me it was ready to pick up. It was priced more than fair. He had me plug into one of the many cabinets that he had available and made sure I was happy with the voicing of the pickups. Let me tell you this thing sounds amazing. Not only are will they work on your gear, but they are mainly a rehearsal space and recording studio. I'm, not the typical guy who writes reviews ever(I wouldn't waste my time writing a negative one about the last place), I don't why, I just felt the need to write this one. I'm glad I took 5 minutes out of my day to do so. Thanks, Greg. Happy Jackson Guitar owner.

I'm glad I listened to my intuition because when I looked up, I saw a sign.. literally. In red and white letters it read "NY Music Garage" and below it a window decal which exclaimed "A Different Kind of Music Store." As soon as I walked in it was clear that those words were true. I was immediately greeted with a warm welcome. I had initially planned to just scope out their collection and perhaps jam, while getting to know the store, but with so many affordable goodies around, I just had to shop. The awesome fellas there helped me pick up a perfectly fitting guitar slide, a strap lock and even a homemade guitar-shaped cutting board!! It's made of walnut, shaped like a Les Paul and sealed in food-grade sealant... how cool is that?! They even had two other variations, a tele and and a strat. After all that shopping, I was ready to try some guitars. They kindly guided me to a private practice room, which had plenty of space to move around, several fun amps and phenomenal acoustics. Looking around the store, it was clear they carried an awesome collection of new, used and vintage axes... all at fair & reasonable prices too! I'm absolutely stoked with my haul and will definitely be back next time I'm out in Huntington! Thanks fellas!
