All the forms you need to sign (note: do them on-line before you go to save time when you get there) as well as your harness and climbing shoes. If it's your first tine or you're a seasoned veteran they have something for all experience levels. They also have a safety basics they review with you if you're new. They have a party room in back, so it also makes for a great Birthday Party or work team building. Looking forward to warmer weather so we can rent the stand up paddle boards and try that out. Good fun for everyone, add this to you're things to try out next time you're looking fir something fun and a little bit different. There are all skill levels from what I call the "bunny slopes" easy to the extremely hard, like you better have muscles in your fingertips kind of climbing. But don't fear - there is no judgement, even the best will fall from time to time, and the staff is always happy to help and will get you hooked up and started. This is all ages fun too. Take the kids for sure! The auto balay (I think it's called) is all I have tried. You're harness is hooked to the rope which will catch you as soon as your body weight starts to pull on it. Once you realize how secure you are, you will be comfortable and feel safe even jumping off when you reach the very top! It's a little scary the first time but trust me that goes away quick! Don't be misled by the word "micro" gym. Since they opened they keep adding and changing the routes so you're not going to be bored. I have always been afraid to try paddle boarding but with a great day rate of $35 (all day climbing, 2 hrs paddle boarding on Lake Gadsden) I'm feeling more confident to try that next when it warms up! Also they have all kinds of classes and activities (sunset on the river, hello!) too. Check out the website and see more information; and as previously stated you can go ahead and fill the waiver out and save a few minutes at the door. Www.climbgadrock.com Side note. The name is on point! There are many who call Gadsden "Gadrock" & for a cool, fun climbing center here I don't think you could have chosen a better name!

I was looking for somewhere beautiful to get a panorama of Chattanooga (+ more) from an awesome vantage point, and I found this spot on Google. It's a bit of a winding drive to eventually arrive to the site, and when you do, parking is extremely limited. It's either you got luck or God on your side, to park right where the "rock" is, but I was very fortunate. The steps are very large and irregular getting to the actual "site", and if you are not fit --- just go slow. However, once you arrive --- it's like heaven. A view from the heavens overseeing the Tennessee River Gorge, Prentice Cooper State Forest, and valleys. Spending 20-30 minutes after getting up their will clear your mind. A view that you should not pass up!

So, from my perspective, I'd rate this as a moderately difficult hike. The trail is about 3.5 miles round trip and took us around 2 hours, not including the time we spent enjoying the view at the top. The summit is absolutely worth the effort-the view is breathtaking. Be sure to bring plenty of water. Thankfully, the trail has lots of shade, which helped keep us cool and protected from the sun.

The rating system could use a little tinkering imo. There seems to be a big jump in difficultly between some of the colors which was a little disheartening and I was a little offended by the names assigned to the different skill levels when I went. The space here is huge. Good sized bouldering area with no climbing boulder in the middle. This allows you to see the whole climbing area which is different and I'm sure it makes it a great venue for bouldering competitions. There is a really really nice advanced climbing area with a large spray wall and a few techie boards like a Moon board and Kilter board. I wish I had these in my local gym and this is definitely the nicest training area I've seen in any gym so far. There is a decent sized weight training area with free weights. The restrooms are pretty nice as well. Beside the normal restroom things you will also see showers, a changing area, and even a little area made to wash your feet. I didn't get to explore the Ninja area but it did look pretty realistic, challenging and fun. The people who work here are nice and helpful; I regret not spending more time talking to them and gaining some climbing wisdom. All in all this place is catered to upcoming and experienced climbers. A little surprised to see no top or lead climbing with a gym of this size. If I was new at climbing I might find this gym to be a bit challenging.

We had the first party of the day which was great, as the gym wasn't super crowded. The party room was a good size with huge windows that overlooked the kids side of the climbing gym. It easily accommodated 12ish kids, parents and family. It included a full size fridge/freezer, ice machine, and kitchenette. Cutlery and paper products were included. I would definitely recommend bringing table cloths. We bought some and then forgot, whoops. Our party host was Dawson, and he was a phenomenal guy. Super helpful, extremely patient with a herd of rabid cats- I mean, kids- and was just a genuinely nice guy. The kids gym was nice, a bit smaller than I was expecting. We've been to similar gyms elsewhere (see reviews) and this one left a bit to be desired. I wish it was bigger with more walls. Even still, there wasn't a long wait with the exception of the city skyline part. The kids also enjoyed going to the "bigger" room, which is standard indoor climbing walls, that are double the height and not themed. After orientation, the kids ended up with about an hour and a half of climbing and a half hour in the party room for food and cake. This worked out great though the kids were bummed when they couldn't go back after the party to climb. The gym definitely gained a bunch of new customers after this party, many of the parents were thrilled to find this place. The price for the party was really great too. For those who are interested, they do also have a bouldering section (age 14+ only) auto belay and standard belay walls, climbing clubs (kids and adults), meeting rooms and other classes (yoga, etc). All in all, I definitely recommend High Point Climbing. If you do a party here, definitely put a time 15 minutes prior to the actual start on the invites so that kids can get geared up and oriented asap so they can maximize climbing time.
