I want to start this review by saying I'd like to visit this museum again in the future, but our visit a few weeks ago wasn't the best. They were honest when we walked in that some of the exhibition areas were closed, but we were only able to see two temporary exhibits - all of the permanent collection areas were closed. (There were even signs in the park advertising for a Tamayo exhibit at the museum through April, but nope.) So I know the museum has an amazing permanent collection - Picasso, Miro, Bacon, Calder, Dali, Ernst, Barbara Hepworth, de Kooning, Magritte, O'Keeffee, Rothko... but we didn't get to see any of them. We also didn't see a single work by Rufino Tamayo, the artist/founder of the museum - and I read that the museum has a collection of his work. Unless you're particularly interested in one of the temporary exhibits, I would avoid visiting this museum for a while in case a lot of the museum is still closed. read more
