Oh my goodness! We did this on our first day in Mexico City and it was such a treat! There is so much to do and see in the whole park area near the castle that I only wish we had more time! Bring pesos to shop either all the cute vendors right outside the complex. The castle itself was beautiful! Long uphill walk to get there.

You will not want to miss this beautiful piece of history. Each time I exited , I found another wing to explore. The gardens are beautiful and the art and artifacts are diverse enough to keep you engaged. Great photo ops! Don't skip out on this one!

This is worth a visit if you have some time. The park area leading to the castle is beautiful with plenty of places to sit and relax. Check out the garden area on the top floor. Enjoy!

Wow just wow! This was one of my favorite places to visit when we went to Mexico City. Formerly the residence for Mexican presidents and now a cultural history museum. It is perched at the top of the hill of the Chapultepec Park overlooking Mexico City with picturesque views of the city. The amount of history in this place is amazing and it is a true gem to the patria of the Mexican culture.

Beautiful place. I would really recommend coming here to view the beautiful castle and view/learn some Mexican history. The walk alone was very enjoyable to me, though definitely don't wear heels haha. You can't bring water in but there is a cafe inside the Castle where you can purchase beverages, or once you leave there are plenty of stalls where you can buy drinks as well.

Well worth the visit. I would say come on a weekday if possible, tends to get very busy on weekends. Also if you have issues walking - there is a long hike up the hill to get there. I am not sure if there are any accessible entry options but I would say look into it before you go! Beautiful place.

First off, let's just say breath taking views of the castle and Mexico City! The staff were very nice and the movement of the line was quick! We did go in the afternoon which there was alot of people but that didn't stop us from having the outstanding experience! We had to walk through a park where there was lots of locals selling all sorts of different merchandise. From water to food to clothing and more. Be careful because some of the merchants will charge more than another stand . A bottle of water should be no more than 15-20 pesos. If it runs at 30 pesos they're over charging you! So watch out. Also, there's a place you can rent all different types of boats and ride them on a lake within the park! Which was so pretty. Also, there's a walk up a hill to get to the castle, so remember this when visiting that way you can wear comfy shoes and clothes. Check the weather as well to dress appropriately. As we went into every room the museum was incredible with lots of details. If you know the history or are with someone who knows you'll be fine! If not I recommended you book a tour. The history is very rich between the times of the president and the Aztecs and what went on with royalty and the independence of Mexico! A place you do not want to miss while in Mexico City! I recommend all travelers to visit. Enjoy!

We came on a Sunday and I believe there is no charge for everyone. We actually have residency which may be an exemption, because I know that normal tourists need to pay an entrance fee. It was quite an amazing experience overall. Even the adventure through Chapultepec Park was interesting. The place was packed with people, and given that it is a holday, it probably added to the volume of people here. Each side of the walkway was lined with vendors of all types, however there wasn't much pressure to buy stuff like in other parks. I was impressed about how well the castle is maintained. Every detail has been kept to its original form. It made me think about how the extreme upper class lived in Mexico City back in the day. I would definitely suggest for anyone new to the city to add this historic landmark to your bucket list.

Gorgeous gorgeous Gorgeous!! I have so much to say and so many photos to add but only got these for now. The most astonishing castle I've ever visited in Mexico City. One would need more then 2 hours if you like to read on your own. I arrived there at 2 pm and it wasn't very packed for a Tuesday mid afternoon It's closes at 5 pm It's super breathtaking Highly highly recommend this place

This is definitely worth visiting if you're in Mexico City. I would recommend going during the week because it was super crowded on a Wednesday. There is an uphill walk to the top but it's so worth it. The views and architecture are beautiful. The paintings and art are awesome.

Make time for the Castillo de Chapultepec. We bought tickets online in advance and checked in. They don't permit big bags or backpacks so we had to purchase a token for the lockers which were incredibly hard to open. The security seemed to be enforcing the no food, no drink, no bag rules selectively. Then you walk up a big hill to the museum and castle up at the top. The first building is a modern Mexican history museum. We almost missed the castle itself which would have been such a shame because it showed it as it was used by the emperor and his wife. The views are top notch and it was a great visit.

I read that this is the only real castle in North America where there was a royal family lived. This is a stunning building and a good option when you are in the area. Really enjoyed touring the building inside and walking around the grounds. Note that it's a bit of a hike to get here from the park.

Ot was pretty interesting to read that it took a couple of sculptures 15 years to produce this work of art. It appears to be a lion drawn carriage with a famous person riding at the top. It's also obvious to see that the city has put a lot of effort into maintaining the sculpture that is at least 25 feet tall. The landscape surrounding the fountain, as well as, the park surrounding have been kept up very well. I did not see very many places for visitors to sit however. Moreover, there are not a lot of tress, so bring your sunblock. The circle to access the park and fountain is also very busy with cars, and there is no real marked crosswalk, so be careful because the cars don't slow down. I would characterize this monument as a must-see!

This statue is copied from an original in Madrid, Spain made in the late 1700's. The statue was donated by some benefactors in Madrid, who wished to show the ongoing friendship between the two metropolises. This is really one of the coolest statues I've seen in a public setting- the lions command the attention of the traffic roundabout. I'm just glad I was walking through here so I could take the time to appreciate this huge monument. Be careful throwing coins in this fountain, as the goddess being towed by those lions is the goddess of fertility! The statue has a big sign that says "CDMX" that's a cool place to grab a selfie in front of. There's so many cool places to hang out on this plaza- many bars and restaurants surround this place. It also seems to be on the double-decker bus tours, as there's a lot of them that come rumbling through here!

It's evolved from a site for early Aztec rituals to a venue for modern independence celebrations, concerts, protests and parades, with varied uses in between. Today it's known as "El Zócalo", Spanish for "base" referring to the base of a monument to independence that was never finished in this square. Instead a single flagpole stands in the middle. Built over the ceremonial center of the Aztec city Tenochtitlan previously located in the same spot, you can visit the city's teocalli (sacred precinct) called Templo Mayor in today's vernacular. This is directly north east of the square. To the direct north is the Catedral Metropolitana de la Ciudad de México (Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral), to the east is the Palacio Nacional (National Palace), to the south are city government offices including the City Hall and Supreme Court close by. Over the centuries it's functioned as a public square, makeshift or formal market place, park, gathering place for political uprisings and other major historic events. Nowadays it's still a popular gathering place, there are buskers, organized performances, cultural and civic activities, including the Day of the Dead annual parade. When I was there a few weeks ago there was a city sponsored art exhibit of cactus statues, looked to be designed, and painted/embellished/decorated by local artists. There were around 100 different cacti spread out in the central section around the flagpole. Entrance was free though the exhibition area was fenced with police monitoring the entry points, I suppose to prevent any malicious activity toward the public art. So many designs stood out, I posted some pics of my faves--what talented artists!

So instead of buying tickets to go to the observation deck you can just say you're going to the restaurant. Of course the prices are a little elevated but just think that you'd be spending 220 pesos per person just to go to the observation deck. So just get a drink and maybe a dessert or something. The view is really nice and you can just relax and enjoy. We had a tres leches cake which swimming in sauce, very spongy and wet and also had a layer of whipped cream, delicious! We also got the mango ice cream, it was quite a large scoop and came on top of some sort of cookie or granola crumble. It was creamy and had a nice mango flavor, most of all refreshing. But most of all you're there for the view. We went there on our last day before leaving for the airport so we were in sort of a rush. So we asked for our check multiple times but they are used to people taking their time and just enjoying the view. So we just got up and paid at the register before we left.
