'Come see the Montagues and Capulets,
Monaldi and Filipeschi, careless man,
already troubled those, and these in dread!'
W.Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet:
'Two households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.'
Romeo's house, just like Juliet's house is a must stop when in Verona. House itself is inhabited, located in an oldest part of Verona, in the back alley, close to Scala family tombs. One has to wonder, was it an actual history or just a legend, and what kind of conflict between families drove two kids to such dramatic actions that even centuries later we are still visiting from all over the planet and wonder the streets of Verona reliving that love story.
It's not much to see, but if you're hopeless romantic like I am, how do you come all the way to Verona and miss it?
