**EXCELLENT CASTLE AND MUSEUM IN VERONA** Castelvecchio Museum is a museum located in a medieval castle. HISTORY ======= The castle, a building from the medieval Veronese period, was built between 1354 and 1356. Beginning in 1925 the castle became a museum, where valuable art collections were installed. THE CASTLE =========== Beautiful grounds and fantastic photo opportunities everywhere. On a clear day, you can see all of Verona from the top. THE MUSEUM =========== First room in the sculpture gallery houses sculpture, reliefs and epigraphs from the late Medieval and Romanesque periods. Second room is a group of statues from the first half of the 14th century. Also a weapons hall which displays a collection of cold-steel arms dating from the 14th to the 18th centuries. I liked this the best! Don't forget the painting collections which offers an overview of Veronese painting from the medieval epoch through the eighteenth century. The creepiest work is "John with Drawing of a Clown" by Francesco Caroto. Also enjoyed Carlos Scarpa's projects and works throughout the museum. INFO ===== Hours 9AM-7PM, Ticket Office closed 6 p.m., Closed on Monday Tickets - € 6,00 HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

6 euros to tour the museum. There are multiple floors with plenty of ancient sculptures, paintings, tools and weaponry, etc. I wasn't so much into all the religious paintings, but it was still interesting to see the the evolution of art form from the the point of realism and perspectives, etc. Some of the paintings looked almost cartoonish, while others were quite life-like. A lovely view of the river from the top of the castle, and a nice courtyard rounded out our tour of this castle museum.

Absolutely beautiful castle in Verona. The location is easy to find and the views from this wonderous place are stunning. It's most definitely medieval and the adjoining museum is a huge interest showcasing many frescos, paintings and artifacts from the castle. The recommended viewing time of both is about 1.5hrs and it's well worth every second.

Constructed in 12th century and rebuilt several times after, this is the only private tower in Verona built by Lamberti family in the heart of the old town in Erbe square. Entry fee is 6 €, unless you are a teacher, part of the group, press etc when it's significantly reduced. We decided for the free panoramic views from Castel San Pietro terrace of the whole city, including this must see tower.

LOCATION ======== Go to the Piazza delle Erbe and at the heart of this piazza is the Torre dei Lamberti. HISTORY ======= Tower dates from the 12th century, although it has been added to and changed since then. A lightning knocked its top off in 1403. Several decades later, the tower was restored and made even higher. It is now the tallest in Verona at 84 meters. VIEW ===== Some people take the elevator, but we decided to climb all 368 steps to reach the top. Good exercise and spectacular view on a clear day. PRO TIPS ======== Watch out for the ringing of the bells. I almost shat in my pants when it rung (next to my ear). The Funicolare is a must do when visiting Verona!! We checked in at our hotel on a Friday afternoon…read moreand our hostess shared with us some great place to eat, sight see, and do around the area. The next morning we started off our weekend with a nice walk to see more of Verona! We got there and there was no line, the staff at the desk were friendly and helpful despite knowing very little Italian. The ride is only a few Euros for a round trip! It was nice to see some locals enjoying it as well, we got to be on the lift with a cute family, Mother, son, and grandparents. The lift itself is a smooth ride, not too fast or too slow. As you ascend you begin to see more of Verona and its historical buildings are stunning to see at a distance. Once we arrived at the top there was a nice little shop up top. You could get a cup of coffee, a spritz, or snacks! It's the perfect place to have a shop like this! We stayed up on the top for awhile walking around the area and looking at the views! My boyfriend and I love learning about different cultures and it was nice to soak it all in. We immersed ourselves in the knowledge that we were in a city much older than the one we live in. We got a few great shots of the view, enjoyed the beauty and headed back down. I definitely recommend the nice walk over to the Funicolare from the city anytime you're in Verona! It's a must see and I imagine even more beautiful at different times of the day and different seasons!

A funicular is an inclined railway that is used for climbing hillsides or mountains. This one in Verona only takes about 2 minutes from top to bottom (or bottom to top) or you can simply walk your way up. For €2.50 round trip per person, take the ride. The view of Verona from the top is amazing on a clear day as it was today. There is a small cafe where you can get a drink or a sandwich. Or just enjoy looking at this amazing city.
