Castillo de San Jorge is a small museum tucked underneath the Triana Market- and it sits on the site of the first headquarters of the Spanish Inquisition. What's most amazing about the museum is the excavated ruins which show the ordinary places where horrible violence took place - kitchens, stables, small cells, and so on. And the fairly simple placards do a good job bringing to life the ruins, so you really can picture what was housed in the various spaces you pass through. Sometimes I wished for more historical context, and I thought the short film about the Inquisition (available in Spanish and English) wasn't the best at providing factual information. But this is worth seeing if you're crossing Puente Isabel. read more
