My review is more about the curated experience, I suppose. The experience begins with a movie (with subtitles) that does a great job explaining the site and its history, and there's a truly terrific museum next to the auditorium that is well-curated and well-laid out. But the actual archeological site can be a bit hard to really understand, and it's so far from the museum (you take a green bus to get there) that it can be hard to remember what the spaces you are seeing were actually used for. The placards that are out in the field are pretty dry, and I found myself wishing for interactive displays at the site to bring it to life a bit more, and to explain what the site itself reveals about life in 10th century southern Spain. I could imagine some really cool displays that show where the vessels, jars, and bowls from the museum were actually found. I just wish some of the smart, technologically sophisticated museum displays had made their way to the archeological site. Moreover, I found the constant payments -- for the bus to the site, for entry to the site, for the green bus that takes you from the museum up the hill -- kind of annoying and I wish they had rolled it all into one fee. It's worth seeing, but hold in mind that it isn't flawless.

I really enjoyed the layout of this museum and the building itself is very pretty! It was super cheap to go into and they have lockers available for free (but you have to put in 1€ to use it - and you get the euro back afterwards) to store luggage or backpacks! It also was pretty warm outside so this was nice to go through.

This museum was open late so we popped in during our post dinner walk around Cordoba. When we…read moreapproached the ticket counter the staff member informed us that admission was free that evening which saved us 1.5E each. The museum was contained in two buildings. We started upstairs in the modern building which showcased many sculptures, statues, coins and more across Cordoba's history. The highlight were two bronze statues from the Roman era that were recovered by police and just restored in 2024. In the basement we walked above the excavated ruins of a Roman Theatre which would have been the largest in Spain. The Palace of Paz de Castilleja was located next door and we just showed our ticket stub to enter. Unfortunately it was dark and lighting was done so we only had enough time to walk through the courtyards and see the Roman mosaics. Overall a very good museum to checkout while in Cordoba with an admission that can't be beat.

I would not go out of my way to come here, but if you're in Cordoba and looking for some culture, this is a decent bet. They have a really nice collection of Roman columns from the 1st and 2nd centuries, some Roman mosaics, and there are the ruins of a Roman theater in the basement, but that's not super impressive since it is basically just ruins and you can't even really tell what it used to be because it was mined for materials in later years. Only downside to the visit was the rather surly desk attendant who was not very customer service focused.

It was very interesting to see how his style evolved through different periods of his career. Buying tickets online is definitely the best option to avoid the long lines. The museum is quite popular, so even with tickets, you should expect a bit of a wait.

His house museum is also a 5 minute walk from here. The collection is divided into 12 rooms that pretty much chronologically display his works. From his more realistic works to the more abstract and surreal works, the storytelling aspect of this museum was nice, especially in detailing how his work changed during the Spanish Civil War and World Wars. I scanned the QR code for the mobile audioguide which was nice to learn more about certain works. Took about 1.5 hours listening to almost all audio clips. I came during the winter holiday season, so booking in advance is definitely easier. The museum also features works from other artists like Dali.

Originally, I wasn't going to visit Pompidou, but it was Sunday and the lesser known museums that…read moreI'd planned on visiting were closed and Pompidou was nearby as with most of the museums. At the time of my visit, there was a choice of the permanent exhibit (7€, seniors 65+ 4€) and for an added fee you could view the temporary exhibit; just the permanent please. With admission, you get an easy-to-use audio guide to explain many, but not all the works that have the theme of time. Otherwise, most of the exhibits have cards that explain the art. For example, one section was about leisure time, another was about the aged which was thought provoking (elderly are less productive, more isolated). In general, the exhibits had a message (ie. breaking gender boundaries or how leisure time provided rest or promoted creativity) that required me to slow down and think about how time applies to me. Thinking the Pompidou had paintings from Picasso and Miró, I was surprised to find only one sculpture from Picasso, two paintings by Miró, and one painting by Matisse. While there was an exhibit where ground spices were hanging from pantyhose-like material and the audio guide said it invites you to smell the spices, I discovered the "invite" was rhetorical when security told me I was too close to the exhibit.

With this in mind, this institution prepared a venue in the city of equestrian exercises that included games involving skill with bulls, which as had been traditional in Spain since the Middle Ages. We went inside the museum gift store and they had great quality souvenirs in here. The prices were not bad for a tourist spot. Inside the Plaza de Toros de Ronda you can visit the Bullfighting Museum, the Royal Saddlery of the Casa de Orleans and a Collection of antique firearms.

As an avid Hemingway reader, this was a must for me. Centrally located (in Plaza de Toros), opened daily, fascinating old bull ring. Pedro Romero had fights here (love the old bullfight poster), the construction was finished at the end of 18th century, Orson Welles loved the place (he was buried in the area), another reason for me to visit this historic site. Beautiful architecture, wonderful site. My only regret? I wish I had more time spend here!
