What I loved was the customer service, which is something that you do not tend to find in the larger chains. The suit cost me £150 and I think it was well worth it. I could have bought a similar suit in M&S, for around the same price, but the service would not have been anywhere near as good, It would have been just me and the changing room. Big rugged and gruff mens' shoes displayed prominently. Stussy, Adidas, Birkenstock. All denim and leather. To be honest, as much as a lot of their clothes are ok, some are even quite nice. It'd be a much more interesting and rewarding shop to pop into Episode next door, and chance your arm that there might be something right up your street, that you'd never have found anywhere else. Rather than walk in here and find a 'very acceptable' jacket which'll set you back £80. That's my advice anyway... x

Of late I've become a little obsessed with Whistles - somehow everything they make seems to suit me…read morequite well (and I might also be swayed by the fact I can fit in a smaller size than usual here) - the clothes are well-made and they have a knack for choosing lovely patterns, i.e. ones that aren't floral (too girly for me) or giant (unfalttering). This obsession has significantly increased my dry-cleaning bill however - check their labels. Anyway, just a shout out to the Upper Street branch which is local to my work so I popped in on a quest for a dress. They didn't have the dress, but they searched and printed all the stores that did, and were charming and friendly to boot, even though I left without buying anything and a trail of tried-on clothes (waiting for next paycheque) in the changing room. Excellent sales. The Westfield and Northcote Road branches are great too, though Westfield has the biggest selection.

Whistles does indeed deserve some cat-calls (Is there another word for that annoying whistle…read morenoise?) as each time I walk by I find myself drooling over high-quality, fashion-forward, edgy and design-inspired pieces. The designers will probably come to a screeching halt when they read this, but I adore that Whistles can provide me with more a grown up and higher quality Topshop feel. The patterns and materials are much more thought-out and appealing, without loosing the trendy or edgy nature. I've been in more times than my wallet would like to admit, because while I love that Whistles stays on trend, I also find that the prices are exorbitantly high. I'm willing to pay them as I truly do believe that you get what you pay for, but it doesn't mean that I like it! (Nor do I like having to dish out on dry-cleaning every item of theirs that I own.)

It's nowhere near as big as Cyberdog just round the corner but has a brilliant collection of really top quality top notch clothing, jewellery, and knick knacks like blankets and throws from exotic places like Bali, Malaysia, India, Tibet etc. The quality and styling is superb especially if you want something cool, trendy and comfortable but out of the ordinary. Two plusses are that it has a small chill out area upstairs with really comfy sofas and they serve great coffee and nice cold drinks, so you can also take the weight of you feet and enjoy a nice cold or hot drink AND the guy whose place it is is very helpful and welcoming. A real must to visit if you go to the stables. 10/10

I LOVE this shopping Centre; it's busy, bustling and brimming with all the treats you could want…read more One of the best things about the shopping centre is the Sainsbury's; it's the best and cheapest supermarket mega-store in the area, and has the largest selection of Quorn and vegetarian foods in the area (aside from specialist shops). There's also an Iceland, although I'm pretty opposed to this chain it is cheap as chips. There's the Hackney obligatory Percy Ingles, the bakery and a hot nut stand (the shop used to be on Kingsland Road but has now moved in here). There's also clothes shops, a Holland and Barret and acupuncture shop. As if in keeping with the Ridley Rd market, there's also stalls inside selling clothes that Albert Square would be proud of! Then of course there's the infamous Matalan where there was sadly a terrible murder earlier this year. This forced a tightening of security, and you often see police men wandering around. That said, the liveliness of the shopping centre is infectious, and seriously, the Sainsburys is well cheap!
