My friend told me that Ingrid and Robin had been doing taxes for her mother and herself for many years. When you have two generations of clients who give their word on two generations of accountants, how can you not trust them? I am absolutely happy that I drove out of Sacramento to Elk Grove to meet Robin. Despite the current quarantine orders, Robin took the time to answer questions for me and explain certain tax laws and benefits. I was formerly a travel nurse and recently bought a home. I received my tax documents back perfectly organized with clear instructions and how to pay what I owed, to whom and the respective due dates. When you're busy working two jobs and are overwhelmed by doing taxes like I am (in the case of 2019 tax year, I had 3 different employers within the year), the expertise at Win Bookkeeping is invaluable. I am a client for life now.

I would rate higher on competency; in fact, I'd give 4 stars, less than perfect simply for the…read moresomewhat slow responsiveness of the accountant. But, I must give one star for lack of professionalism at a very high price. I am a professional, and one that lives and dies by the billable hour. I understand and respect the fact that professionals such as accountants need and deserve to get paid for the time they work. But when their time goes over budget by three times, without any communication whatsoever to the client *before* the price goes through the roof, I get concerned. We hired Greg Burke from this firm last year for our taxes on the recommendation fo a friend. Admittedly, our taxes last year were a little complicated due to closing an estate, but when we questioned the bill, Greg became unresponsive. This year, we did not hear anything from him during January, so I sent an email checking in. We then got a contract in the mail, but I again questioned what the price was going to be this year. I reminded him that we never really got a clear answer as to why our bill was so high last year (and never got an itemized invoice on the hours billed), and I questioned why he hadn't communicated with us before that happened. We simply wanted to know where we'd end up this year, and given his experience with our returns, we felt he should be able to better estimate what it would be. His response was a bit confusing, without a definite number or range that we could expect. When I again tried to pin him down, his response was a one-line email saying we should find an accountant more in line with our budget. Here's the problem with his response: we were asking him what our budget should be, given that we were confused as to what happend last year, and things should be simpler this year with the estate being closed. His response was extremely unprofessional. If you are looking for a high-priced, non-responsive accountant, this is the right place. If you want someone to be open and accountable to you for the money they want you to pay, go elsewhere.
