We had come to buy a box of heated pads for the back, but none were to be found. Next, I wanted to buy some hand sanitizer but the selection wasn't varied. I chose from what was available and looked around for other things that might be on sale as part of a close-out. My wife and sister both agreed that the sale wasn't as good, considering that the store was about to close. We didn't end up buying anything else. The guy that charged us looked like he just wanted the few days left to be over. We weren't greeted nor was he smiling when charging us. The overall experience of this Walgreens wasn't the best, but considering that it's now closing, it's as good as it was going to get.

The El Tigre food store is the closest gas station to my workplace that I prefer. Often, it is a…read moreplace to stop to get their breakfast tacos. The tacos here are preferred over the competition because they aren't as greasy nor are they soggy. The tortilla usually tastes better than at other gas stations that sell breakfast tacos and the deals available are pretty good too. .99 cent tacos are a current deal and they are good. This gas station has a rewards program called the Plenty card. I recommend that you get it of its your preferred gas pump stop. Any Exxon brand of gas station accepts the plenti rewards and the way it works is as follows: You earn 1 point per gallon that you pump. You earn two points for in-store purchases such as tacos or junk food. The more pints you earn, the more you can get back in cash discounts. Since we all pump gas weekly, the pints do rack up fast. Often, I am told that I qualify for a 2-5 dollar discount on my gas purchase or my taco purchase. I have the choice of using it or banking for a larger expense. What's better, you can earn points outside the gas station as well for qualifying purchases at Macy's and other online stores. It's a free card that I would recommend you get if you frequent Exxon gas stations in general. The gas machines have recently been updated and the cashiers are always smiling and friendly in the morning. I can't say anything of the afternoon employees as I don't usually go inside in the afternoon. Go for the tacos, and get the Con Todo taco, which has a little bit of everything. It won't disappoint.

Gasoline prices are always the lowest. ...though there is often a line. Prices and service for tires is also excellent at Sam's. Meat, frozen foods, canned foods, and even produce prices are great. You just need to plan because you'll be buying in larger containers or in bulk. Even just purchasing for one small family the savings can add up. Then there's the household and garden items, even furniture... Towels, linens, dishes, small kitchen appliances, rugs, pharmacy, glasses and vision items, the list is long. Do I find everything I need here? No. I still need to go to HEB or Walmart to finish off my list. I've been told their major competitor has some advantages, so I went with my son. I didn't see a convincing reason to switch over. Sam's also has another location on 10th Street which is closer to where I live - where I usually go. I went to this Sam's because they carry a particular product I needed to take to my sister in North Texas. I have consistently had a positive experience here. My only suggestion for improvement is more lanes open for faster checkout.

SAMs was quickly becoming a place that I didn't want to frequent. It used to have long lines and…read morethe self checkout options were getting packed too, defeating the purpose of a speedy buy and run. However, one thing has redeemed my now frequent visits. This is the SAMs Scan and Go app, available in your iPhone/Android devices. The only reason why I have a SAMs card is because I am a teacher. I sometimes need to buy things in bulk as incentives for my students. However, the items I buy are rarely more than 10 items combined, and I know specifically what I want and where to find it. It used to take me longer to wait in line at a register to pay and to put the items I needed in the cart. Along comes the Scan and Go app. With it, after you register your SAMs card and your debit card, you can scan the items that you want as you put them in the cart with your phone. The app will tally up your items total on the fly. When you are ready to leave SAMs, just click "Checkout," and you pay within the app. No need to make a line at the registers anymore. I just pay at whatever point of the store I happen to be, walk straight to the exit, then show my digital receipt to have it scanned (as is customary for these type of stores) and I'm on my way to the vehicle. I have done this 3 times now, and I turned what would normally be a 25 minute trip into a 7 minute trip. If more stores do something like this, shopping anywhere would be a more pleasant experience everywhere. I commend Sam's for being a trailblazer in the Scan and Pay department. Tip my hat to you.
