I did a fair bit of diagnosis myself and traced the problem to a junction box (I thought, anyway). After opening the box and seeing cloth wiring that I just didn't want to fool with (bad experiences with that stuff in the past), I called multiple electricians. I think I called at least 20, and only Beaver Electric answered and / or agreed to come out timely. They told me they'd be out in two days. The next day, I got a call that they had time, and bumped up my appointment which was great! Tim from Beaver Electric arrived right on time and was able to find the piece of the puzzle I missed -- a shut off switch for the heating system, that I wasn't aware existed. Tenants had switched the system off, but even ever turning that on, there was still no power to the heating system. Tim diagnosed the switch as defective and I agreed. While I did want to kick myself for not checking the stairway for the primary emergency shut off switch (the unit has a secondary as most do), Tim replaced the switch, cleaned up some connections in the aforementioned junction box, and that was that for $235. A tad pricey for what was essentially a bad light switch, but fair enough as I would've dug into that junction box and been there for hours, not realizing the problem was at a switch I didn't know existed. Tim was very courteous and didn't mind me hovering over him, which can really be irritating. Nice guy, job well done, decent and responsive company, and fair price. I'd hire them again.

My 35 year old Winco industrial portable generator stopped producing power. I contacted PFP as one…read moreof the closest (about 50 miles away) Winco service techs for assistance with replacing diodes (an incorrect diagnosis from another tech). Paul stated the problem was far more likely bad capacitors and that the diodes could very likely still be serviceable. He was 100% correct. He helped with the diagnosis and talked me through the repair process. While it took me a while online to find replacement capacitors as I could not find a local supply store in Worcester, once the capacitors arrived and were installed I was back in full operation. I called Paul to thank him for his excellent advice and his time to help me resolve my generator problem. Shortly there after, Paul called back with additional unsolicited support regarding adjusting the throttle setting for cleaner power (Hz). The fact that the call back was unsolicited tells me that Paul keeps his clients best interests in mind and strives to serve well. Paul's kind & clear conversation was a breath of fresh air. I needed an electrician so a tenant could move into an apartment we own, so there was a timing pressure and I was so stressed. It was a Hail Mary, but I made a flurry of calls, and Paul answered. Not only did he answer, but he gave me a realistic window when he'd be able to show up, kept in touch with me and was even able to show up earlier than projected, which was just so great. On this day we only needed to get the system safe to turn on for our new tenant, but the fact is, we know we need quite an overhaul, it's an very old house, and he was able and willing to not only get us up to safety, but had a good and realistic discussion about our future electrical needs. I'm sticking with this guy. Homeownership can be scary. Needing work done in an area that you have no real knowledge of can be scary. She was told that I, as the homeowner, needed to be on site, so I made arrangements to be there. By 830 my tenant is trying to reach out to him for an eta or reschedule. By 930 I agreed to get involved, as neither she nor I could start our days until we knew our status with the electrician. So I called to ask at what point should just we assume it's not happening and lo and behold, the person my tenant was trying to reach answered and proceeded to have an absolute tantrum over us repeatedly reaching out for updates that he'd assured my tenant she'd be getting in the event his availability changed , apparently particularly offended that a client with only a small job would expect what she was told by him to expect. So, I imagine they must be really great electricians, if your needs are large and expensive enough. But personally wouldn't suggest trying them out.

I just found out they put a block heater on my generator and set it to 100 -120 degrees. This…read moremeans it runs constantly to achieve that temperature. My electric bill went from 400 to 900 this winter and when I had the new company come for a second opinion (it was 75 degrees out) the block heater was still running trying to get to the 100 mark. So deceptive. They also cracked my mother in laws generator when over screwing the valve cover on her generator. They never told us. Just did a patch job that the new company also found Beware!
