That is why this review belongs here. A dispute at one park followed us to another and disrupted the celebration we had paid for. We had been Disney annual passholders for over five years and had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars with the company. This trip was my graduation gift to Yasmine and her three friends: a week at Myrtle Beach followed by a week at Disney. The original dispute began at Animal Kingdom when a ride was down as we tried to use our paid Lightning Lane access. I asked for a replacement pass. The interaction escalated into residency questions after I mentioned we had flown in. We had flown from Myrtle Beach as part of this two-state graduation trip and had one-way plane tickets documenting the journey. Then we were stopped at Epcot because of Tyler's note. Other members of our group were subsequently cleared after providing documentation. Yasmine remained blocked. She had turned 18 less than 30 days earlier and had been an annual passholder with us for years. I accepted that turning 18 meant she could be required to provide her own residency proof. What I challenged was why she had to provide a Florida-issued ID when the other seven members of our group were cleared without one, and Disney's website lists alternative residency documents. During this ordeal, Yasmine and her friends were made to sit outside in the heat for three hours. Later that day, they passed out and became severely ill after that prolonged heat exposure. Disney wanted approximately $500 for Yasmine to enter for two days. This was supposed to be a celebration of their graduation. These are the memories we were left with instead. I escalated our complaint. On October 5, Rick from Executive Correspondence called. When I asked about the different documentation requirement, he said Disney had the right to ask. He told me the website required one of three Florida IDs. I read him the provision allowing alternative proof of residency. He said he was looking at the website and did not see what I was seeing. He repeatedly disagreed that we had been discriminated against and refused compensation or a refund. I still did not receive a specific explanation of why Yasmine's documents were insufficient under the published alternatives. We canceled. You do not have to be a Florida resident to care about how a company handles a family's problem. Consider how you would feel arriving at another park and finding that an earlier dispute now prevented entry, then discovering that even an executive escalation could not get you a clear explanation. Our experience left me feeling that Disney was more concerned with keeping our money than meaningfully addressing what happened. After years of loyalty, I no longer trust it with our family's celebrations or vacation budget.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Disney parks lover, buuuut... I have to be honest…read more What I don't love about this park is the lack of space. Everything feels very "crammed" together--tight, crowded, and packed in. Add the long lines and the lack of shade in this particular park, and at times it can feel almost unbearable. That being said, it's still Disney, and there's really nothing that can compete with that. Personally, I highly recommend Tower of Terror, one of my favorite rides, and the newly revamped Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, now themed to the Muppets. And for Star Wars fans, the Star Wars area is simply incomparable. You really feel like you've been dropped right into the movies. Toy Story Land is a must with little ones, although I still feel like something is missing there. Maybe it's just me... We'll see what happens when the long-awaited Monsters, Inc. area finally opens. As always, my recommendation is to bring your own snacks and something to eat, because food inside the parks is ridiculously expensive. And definitely bring a refillable water bottle! There are several water stations throughout the park with bottle-filling taps, so you can easily refill it instead of buying.

I walked into an area…read moredesigned to make me feel like I had been shrunk down to toy size and dropped into Andy's backyard, and the execution of that idea was thorough. Giant game pieces, oversized footprints, building blocks used as architecture, and Christmas lights strung overhead as decoration all reinforced the scale in a way that rewarded me for actually looking around rather than just moving from ride to ride. Slinky Dog Dash is the anchor attraction and delivered as a family coaster that works for a wide range of ages. It is smooth, fast enough to feel exciting, and the Toy Story theming throughout the track layout is well integrated. Wait times regularly stretch past an hour, so prioritizing it early in the day or using Lightning Lane is the practical move. Toy Story Mania is an interactive 4D shooting game that holds up across multiple rides and was genuinely competitive and fun for my group. Alien Swirling Saucers is the gentler option that skews younger, but it is an easy yes for anyone who does not mind spinning. Woody's Lunch Box is worth building a meal or snack stop around. The totchos and grilled cheese are the items that keep coming up for good reason, and the Lunch Box Tarts are worth grabbing for dessert if I want something to eat while I keep moving through the land. The one consistent practical note is that the area has very little shade and gets genuinely hot during the middle of the day. Coming in during the early morning or staying into the evening is the right call. At night the land takes on a different quality with the lighting, and it is worth lingering in if my park day extends into the evening hours.

We came here for Toy Story Mania!, which I enjoyed. I reviewed that ride separately here on Yelp and gave it four stars. A popular ride here is Slinky Dog Dash. It looks fun, but I'm not a fan of roller coasters. There's also Alien Swirling Saucers, a spinning ride similar to Mad Tea Party. Unfortunately, I'm not interested in getting motion sickness. My wife thinks Woody's Lunch Box is fun. It's a counter-service restaurant themed after Sheriff Woody, the iconic cowboy from the movies (voiced by Tom Hanks). Toy Story Land at Disney World opened on June 30, 2018. Other versions exist in France (the original), Hong Kong, and Shanghai. The Florida version is the newest of the four and replaced the Studio Backlot Tour, which I visited as a kid circa 1989-1990 (RIP).
