Espresso afterwards was as excellent as the food. As the place is for 30 pax only, make sure that you have a reservation. No doubt, worth to eat here!!

My partner and I were visiting Hamburg for a few days, we are from Liverpool, UK. We had a yearning…read morefor some pasta so googled for the nearest Italian restaurants and came across this place and due to the good reviews decided to give it go. When we entered the restaurant and asked for a table the waiter pointed to a table in the corner to which my partner started walking towards, then the waiter started shouting in German that it was reserved, we were then offered a table by the door, should have took that as a sign really , but we were hungry so took a seat. The waiter then proceeded to talk about us in German to the kitchen staff, and also to what were obviously friends or regulars of the restaurant, how very rude and unprofessional of him!!! Did he think we wouldn't notice I may not speak fluent German but understand some. Anyway we laughed it off and ordered pasta which was just ok, the chef seemed really nice to be fair, but our experience here was unpleasant probably because we were English I suspect. Everyone should be treated with courtesy and respect regardless of race or language. Should we return to Hamburg we would not visit again.

I rarely write a poor review of a restaurant but my experience here, and specifically with the…read moreowner, left a bad taste in my mouth. Three of my traveling mates and I sat down at a table on the outdoor patio to eat at this restaurant. Everyone ordered drinks and one of our four decided that he would rather get a dish from another restaurant. This area has about 10-15 restaurants all together, each with an outdoor patio. Our "outsider", lets call him Andy, ordered his food and then sat back down to enjoy his drink and our conversation. The other restaurant actually delivered his meal, in a take-out container, to our table at the Italian restaurant. All of our meals arrived and our Andy opened up his meal to eat with us. Within one minute, the owner of the restaurant came outside and started to scream at Andy with wonderful Italian hand gestures to go along with the loud voice. It was apparent that he didn't want Andy eating someone else's food at a table in his restaurant. Now, what I object to is not that he was upset about someone eating another restaurants food at one of his tables, it is that he had the opportunity to communicate his concerns in a civil manner. A simple "I am sorry, but this area has a policy where food must be eaten at the restaurant it is ordered at and you will either need to put the food away or take it outside the patio". If that is what happened, we would have been fine. I am glad that the owner didn't have a gun available because it felt like if he did have it, he would have pointed it at Andy. So, what did we do, Andy picked up and sat down at the public fountain that is literally 5 feet away from the tables and ate his meal. If you look thru the pictures for this restaurant you will see one with the outdoor patio tables and you will see the public fountain. After he ate, he came back to the table to finish his drink. Ok, I need at least one comment about the food...we ordered 2 pizza's and a pasta dish. We had just come from Naples, Italy, so the pizza simply didn't live up to anything more than average. The pasta dish was pretty good. All in all...no reason to ever go back after a missed opportunity for better service from the owner.
