Best 4 day car show in Australia hands down if not the world :)!!…read more My first summernats ever was 19th & kept it consistent till the 22nd, arrived on the thursday when it started & left on the monday, always went down to Canberra with 3 mates 4 including me & would usually cost us about $600 for the hotel, tickets, food/drink & the night life :D!! Suprisingly had a break till the 29th & attended the 30th which has just passed :)!! Every day is jam packed with burnouts, happy laps around the grounds with heaps of Revs & Skids, with a side of dyno, show & shine, bass off. Plenty Booze aswell like good ol VB's & other varieties of beer & my personal favourite cocktail slurpees at $10 a pop ... they were definately stronger back in and around the 19th year & they still taste good but feel a little bit weaker might just be me haha!! If you want a good chance of getting your favorite shirt, size & colour its best to go on the first few days cause by the third the majority is sold out & you got to just get whats left!! 2 day pass is about the same price as a 4 day pass so if your arriving on the 2nd day your better off getting the season pass cause it always decent enough to pop in on any of the days in the arvo to evening except for sunday :)! Also to avoid the queues its best of buying your tickets to the days you want to go online :)!! You still have to line up but the Queue is always much less than half of the normal ticket line :)!! Once again this is an Amazing car show & always leaves you with fantastic memories whether you go down for the day or stay a night or 2 or stay for the whole event :)!!

Think plush carpet, dark wood paneling, brass and mirrors, thick velvety drapes. I know this isn't quite a fair comparison, but it feels very old school LA to me (a la The Dresden, even). Yes yes, I know; I just compared a venue in Canberra to an iconic LA institution and that is crazy talk, but it's the best that I can do. This is a great place to sit and sip, with a friend or alone, at any time of the day. There is a huge variety of people here, betraying any attempt to cast it as a "scene" -- old couples, young couples, guys, gals, families, hipsters, tradies, lawyers, students working on laptops -- you name it. It's the kind of place where you'd run into people you know, and probably make new friends (at least with the bartenders). I know I'd be a regular if I lived here. Bottom line: we all know Canberra can't compete with Melbourne or Sydney in the restaurant and nightlife departments, so why bother trying to reproduce a night out in either of those two cities? A couple glasses of red wine at Tilley's will help you embrace the Canberra experience as its own thing.

I was here to see some acts during the Australian Blues Music Festival. It was a decent venue for…read morethis. They've got a modern ID system for guests: just pop your drivers license onto the card reader machine screen and it verifies you're not from 'round here, and are automatically registered and let in with a day ticket. I was only in the lounge - not the bistro or gambling rooms - but it was nice for its type. There were a couple of areas, with a variety of seating: stools at high tables, lounge-y chairs at low tables, normal chairs at normal tables which make eating easier. These areas are at different levels so that when there's an act on at the stage at the far end everyone gets a good view. Toilets were very recently refurbished, and done to a very good standard. There's a sandwich/snack counter for those who don't want the full restaurant. The regular beers and spirits are on. They had a range of wines by the glass and bottle, some of which were exceedingly cheap (for good reason, but if that's OK with your palate, it makes drinking here economical). They let kids in, but they have to start in the family-friendly part.
