I know there are towns in Ireland who would kill for civic buildings as good as this one. I had to spend a few weeks studying in Mullingar recently, and the Mullingar library was the perfect place to hunker down with the books.
The building itself is brand new, opening just over a year ago, so it's bright, open, with plenty of resources close to hand. The lack of a dedicated study room is a little annoying, but the librarians do a great job keeping the place quiet. There are lockers available, a computer room, and archive.
The only negative are the slightly odd opening hours, which change almost every day. Of the six days it's open, only two have the same hours. read more
