Stealing could be understood as a motive, but no. This was only destruction. Think twice before spending your hard earned dollars on Mexican property. This has happened countless times in the area. You don't have real property rights & ownership, with immutable, enforceable foreign ownership laws. Besides pointless destruction such as this, many Muleginias have made their fortunes off a gullible gringo, who lost everything they invested, to a remorseless liar. Renting is cheaper. Hang out a few years & learn who to trust. Not everyone that 'helps' you is your friend.

Santos also stopped twice on the ride to the mission to show us some wonderful scenery. The lunch at the Mission was terrible. All our food came out cold. Recommend that Wild Loreto try a different restaurant by the mission for lunch. The sunset boat tour was very nice. The catamaran is very small & seating is not the most comfortable but you get fantastic views of the mountains & shoreline. Food was very minimal but fine - chips, salsa, guac, cheese, fruit, & burritos. Drinks were beer, tequila, & rum. No wine - I was very disappointed with the no wine.

They leave the main power off until you check in, because this tiny village primarily runs on solar power. That's totally fine as we are used to this in southern Baja. We just spent a week in Mulegé and surrounding bays which are all powered by solar! Our room was well appointed with 2 beds and blackout curtains on both windows. There was a nice bathroom with a huge closet! This property is pet friendly as well! The restaurant was closed, but since we were there and nothing else in town was open on New Year's Day, the gal obliged and cooked us dinner anyway! It was very good! She even gave us complimentary beers! The parking is secured and off street. They closed the gates to the parking lot around 8 maybe 9 I didn't pay close attention. The power is shut off by 10pm which is advertised and normal in solar powered places. The water is hot as it is heated by propane so you can shower at anytime. The beds and pillows in the Casita 2, were super comfortable! I could have slept all day here! The roads to get here are sporty. We came in on a short cut from Mulegé and it was approximately 120-140KM of the gnarliest dirt road! Only passable with high ground clearance and 4x4. We have a big truck so it was possible but very difficult and bumpy. It made the lovely hotel and comfortable beds ever the more welcoming! There is a paved road that is much further south and takes a lot longer from where we originated but if you're in a small car or vehicle without 4x4 or low ground clearance it will get you there. I'd recommend a visit to scorpion bay and San Juanico. It is a cute town and supposedly has great surfing. I would stay at the Scorpion Bay Hotel again in a heartbeat!

While there are quite a few camping options, we were looking for a hotel and this place had what we were looking for...and some extras. The hotel grounds were beautiful and the little casitas were large and well-appointed (minus a hairdryer and tv). Oh yeah, the hotel ,at the time when we visited, only had power from 8am-12pm and 6pm-12am. That was all kinds of kooky, but we made do. If anything, we made it a special event to watch the lights go out at night. It's the little things, I tell ya! The town itself was pretty desolate and the hotel restaurant was closed at night. However, the nice guy at the check in desk gave us a great recommendation for dinner at El Burro.Loved it. Overall, probably the best place to stay in San Juanico. Just be sure to watch out for the critters. I caught a crazy huge spider in our room on the day of checkout, and probably wouldn't have been able to sleep in our room had I caught it the night before. However, it did make for a nice story.
