Doesn't matter which one I go to I know I am going to get the same coffee every time. They keep their machines clean (ergo no bitterness) staff are friendly and they don't over extract the beans which is important for someone who doesn't add any flavours or sweeteners. This zarraffas is the one I frequent the most and it has a great atmosphere! I normally take away but it is often filled with the sound of chatter and laughter which is lovely. The outside seating is very popular too though the only real view is of a car park! They have a great drink menu, I love the iced americano (which is espresso over filtered water with ice; no awful over extraction) it's so smooth to drink, great for summer and the cafe breve which is a really decadent cappuccino with cream, so naughty but so yummy! Such a guilty pleasure. Love it!

It's a little cafe in a plaza that does great food and drinks. They recently started their new menu which features a lot of variety for everyone. I really mean it when they accommodate for groups: they offer platters for 2, 3, 4 people and even crazy platters for $99. Our dishes were so good - all components paired well together (poached eggs and fried haloumi cheese? Uhh yes, always yes!), and my green smoothie was a healthy delicious combo too. The decor is cute and the majority of seating is outside (option to be covered by shade rollers). It's table service and they do have specials that are always intriguing to try. I can see myself coming back here over and over because of their food and how it's conveniently on the Southside. Keep it up guys :)!

I stopped into Betty's for a meeting yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by the relaxed and community-friendly cafe that is operating in this half-event space, half-cafe. Owned by Kat, the coffee is solid, certainly some of the best I've sipped in West End. Served on a floral saucer and tourist spoon on the side, I was quite content to spend some time in front of my laptop while those around me played a game of Wheel of Fortune board game and regulars had a good chat to the owner. I am very pleased that it was my first movie theatre to visit in Brisbane as well. They were holding the French Film Festival and I think they tend to show many international films, documentaries, and those off the beaten path which makes me happy. I was a big supporter of the Belcourt Theatre in Nashville, TN which shows independent films, documentaries, etc. and it reminds me a little bit of that in regards to the films they show, not necessarily the building itself. The Palace Barracks definitely wins for better seating and nice facilities!
