Denise and Elizabeth were absolutely wonderful, and made an incredibly sad and stressful time for my Mom and I as bearable as anyone could. Everyone I encountered in working with them, down to their answering service, were warm, kind, and professional. I cannot overstate how much I appreciated their honesty and deep knowledge of all the laws and regulations, as well as of all the burial and cremation options available. They were always quickly available, and promptly took care of every problem that arose, even though it was the week of Thanksgiving! The care with which my Dad was handled, and the dignity with which his cremation was conducted, were a blessing. I also have to thank them for steering us to Rosedale Cemetery, which was as tranquil, historic, and beautiful as almost any place I've seen in Northern NJ. The staff there were very good, too - but I wouldn't expect the Parows to work with anyone not up to their very high standards!

Relative had planned to be buried in NJ, in a plot with her parents, who had passed away almost 50 years ago. I reached out to Frank, as the business has been there since I was growing up in that part of NJ. He was incredibly helpful. Went to the cemetery, found the family plot and sent me photos of what was currently there. Recommended a matching gravestone, quoted the price, coordinated with the cemetery, and delivered and installed the new plate. All of this was managed with a few phone calls, emails and texts, from 300 miles away. Local friends have also visited the cemetery and confirmed the quality of the product. I believe the price was fair and consistent with industry standards. Very impressed with the responsiveness and professionalism of this company, Frank made a difficult process so much easier. I would highly recommend Saracino Monuments.

Fairview Cemetery & Arboretum is one of the most historic and picturesque places in Westfield…read more Established in 1868, it was created when the town's older church burial grounds were becoming crowded. It is both a cemetery and an accredited arboretum, with more than 100 identified tree species and self-guided tree tours. The grounds are known for their natural beauty, including wooded areas, a pond, and extensive landscaping. Fairview also serves as a historical record of modern Westfield. While many colonial-era residents are buried in Westfield's older Presbyterian Cemetery, many of the families who helped build the suburban town of Westfield are buried here. The pond, nicknamed "Ghost Pond," was still surrounded by woods when I was a kid in the 1960s. Back then, it was open to the public for ice skating. The scene in It's a Wonderful Life where George Bailey saves his brother Harry always reminds me of those childhood days skating on Ghost Pond. On my mother's side, my family lineage goes back to some of Westfield's earliest settlers. My parents and both sets of grandparents are buried here. In 2023, I worked with the cemetery office to arrange for my parents' burials in their family plot and to have a headstone made and installed. The staff was professional, compassionate, and easy to work with throughout the process. I grew up near Fairview and have been visiting since I was about ten years old. The grounds are beautiful, peaceful, and exceptionally well maintained. Fairview contains the graves of many of the families who shaped Westfield during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The cemetery includes a notable Civil War section, several historic monuments, and "Old One Horn," a Revolutionary War-era cannon displayed on the grounds. It is also the final resting place of several notable individuals, including Whitney Houston and Dr. Virginia Apgar, whose Apgar Score is still used worldwide to assess newborns. Whenever I return to the Westfield area, I make a point of stopping by to visit family members, friends, and the parents of friends who are buried here. It remains a beautiful and tranquil place that provides comfort while honoring the memories of loved ones.

I also found the burial spot of Doctor Virginia Apgar (1909-1974) who devised the Apgar score. The score is a very quick way for doctors to evaluate the health of newborns at 1 and 5 minutes after birth. The score is determined through the evaluation of the newborn in five criteria: activity (tone), pulse, grimace, appearance, and respiration. And if you missed it, that's a backronym of "APGAR." It is located in Section E, towards the northwest corner of the cemetery. Once those missions were accomplished, I was able to take some time to appreciate the rest of the cemetery. It is quiet, peaceful and in excellent condition. No damaged headstones, smooth roadways throughout and well mowed and trimmed grass. [Review 18318 overall - 151 in New Jersey - 1840 of 2022.]
