We were in town on business, and although we were staying elsewhere, this is where we came for breakfast in their diner style little restaurant. I don't know how they do for other meals, but I would challenge anybody to find a better breakfast.... holy cow! A HUGE plate of eggs, ham, sausages, bacon hash browns and 4 slices of gnarly awesome home style bread toasted... buttered so thick it looks like cheese... oh ya baby. The flavours were fantastic and was better than home cooked - like Grandma home cooked. $6.75 I don't know what the rooms look like, but the little lobby was clean and if I would go back I would stay at the Salmon River Inn and I would waddle downstairs for every meal no matter what the room was like. In addition the people are the nicest... they and their giant buttery toast will see me again.

Upstairs are three guest bedrooms with private bathrooms, but a shared kitchen and living room area... great for a group sharing or a larger family. On the property are several clean cabins with free wifi but no phones, no coffee makers, no blow dryers, no clock radios... don't say I didn't warn you. All through the property are carved logs and cool little artsy things to look at. I think they have camp sites and boat rentals or fishing or something. Things move at their own pace, so don't expect a wake up call on the phone you don't have. But when you flip back the sheets, some dear soul has fabric painted a little cluster of heart shaped kites onto the bottome sheet with the words "Sweet Dreams" greeting you. Sweet they were.

This resort is a unique mix of cabins, historic homes and modern condos. They seem to be booked…read moremuch of the time. We were only able to get a one night accommodation-we needed 2 rooms. We were placed in a historic home in the upper floor where we had 2 bedrooms and a bathroom as one unit in a 5 bedroom house. There was a common living room area for the building. These homes date back to world war II and rooms are pretty basic-bed nightstand, chest of drawers. At each historic house, there is a plaque with information about its history. We were in the Wastel house. The resort includes the Stubbs Island Whalewatching office, a whale museum, restaurant, outdoor picnic tables, and resort office as well as a coffee shop (just a counter to get coffee and pastries mainly), an outside cafe and the marina. It was convenient for us to stay there as we were doing the whale watch there so was fine for a single night. It's about 12 miles off the Island Hwy so nothing else around there.

We went crazy and stayed in the waterfront yurts which were fantastic. They were brand new with a fire pit and eating area outside by the water. They are beautiful inside and furnished so nice. You can barbecue outside and sit on the deck. It was quite the experience. They do have a sink inside the yurts but the bathrooms are across the parking lot. We did not miss the bathroom. It cost 1.00 for three minutes for a hot shower. They have a fantastic restaurant with a incredible outside deck. Be sure to try the chicken wings they are amazing. We have stayed in the hotel and the luxury yurts and now the waterfront yurts and they are all wonderful. You can also do fishing here which we have done. This is a great resort with a great onsite restaurant and friendly people.

I was a bit worried it might be cold, but it was perfectly comfortable -- the heater kept the temperature just right. There were blankets provided on the chairs, though we didn't even need them. Dinner was a set menu with two choices, and the whole experience lasted about three hours. It truly felt special and memorable. I would highly recommend it, especially for a special occasion.

We did the hydropath and massages and booked the romance suite down on the water. That suite is enormous, and while the tub in it looks neat, after a whole day of being in the water, we didn't need a bath. ;) Everything is freshly renovated, and after all these years, the spa looks just as clean and well-kept as it always was. I actually prefer this place to Canyon Ranch or the Mission Sonoma. I know. That sounds crazy but I do love it here. Note: there is a separate Yelp listing for the restaurant. It's a bit hit-and-miss.

The rooms are nice and comfortable with gourmet meals every night. They have a great snack room where this teenager seemed to spend a lot of time. The boats are great and the guides are great too. This is not our first time there and I am sure it won't be the last.
