These lodgings were only built a few years ago and still have that 'new car' smell and feel. The…read moresuite I rented was roomy and clean. All of the furnisings were made of solid pine and most importantly the bed was comfy. The resort is set up so that all of the rooms to the doors are accessed from the great outdoors so you can pull up and park right in front of your room. Since I travel a lot and hate carrying luggage down long hallways, drive up rooms always apeal to me. The front desk is located in a small building in the parking lot and beside this is a covered area with a few bbq's for guests to use. An indoor pool, hot tub and sauna is located in the building across from the office for guests use. The price of the room includes breakfast. Normally I wouldn't mention this, but I was pretty impressed with what they offered. Which included fruit salad, boiled eggs, various types of bread for toast, instant oatmeal, cold cereal, orange juice, yogurt, cottage cheese, a variety of teas and coffee, and for a little wow factor, waffles that you make fresh yourself. The resort has free wireless internet, but it doesn't reach all the rooms. If you can't get a signal they have internet cables at the front desk. The free toiletries (i.e. soaps, conditioner, shampoo etc.) are nothing to write home about so I won't discuss these any further. My room came with a microwave, a small bar fridge, and coffee maker. I think one of the best features of the Black Bear Resort is the view.

Looking for the ultimate romantic getaway? Private hot tub, warm fire, gorgeous views kinda trip?…read moreThe Crystal Cove Beach Resort in Tofino is an absolute must. But wait! They are also the perfect options for a family trip with kiddos. Rent one of 30+ cabin or tree houses for a week and you'll never want to go back home! This resort has the most amazing staff, they are always smiling and offering to help in anyway they can, whether it's a text to see if you require anything, to opening the door when you've got your hands full! Their property is fully equipped with a playground with tons of fun wooden structures that the kids will love and get hours of play from. Perfectly located steps from the beach and a hop, skip and a jump to town. In their office they have DVD's, board games, coffee, tea, an adorable herb garden just outside the doors and a social area. They even have a box of toys and beach gear for the kids to play with! Our log cabin was amazing! We were stunned how everything was included in the stay as well. In our private secluded cabin we had a cozy outdoor area to enjoy breakfast and a good book. We had our own BBQ which comes with all the tools you'll need to whip up an amazing BBQ dinner. Our very own private hot tub, we took full advantage of that! It had all the bells and whistles and was the perfect night cap to a great day. Inside we had a massive fireplace with all the wood you require to keep your cabin as warm and cozy as you'd like, we only put one log on and it lasted all night long. Not to mention the rooms were already warm with in-floor heating that kept our toes warm! The shower is beautiful and fits 2 for sure, felt like a rainforest! The bed was massive and super comfy. I love how they have a full kitchen, it literally includes every single kitchen tool and gadget that you might need to cooking, baking, roasting, BBQ'ing, shall I go on? They even have a Cabin Stocking Program where you leave it to them to stock your cabin so you arrive with groceries and everything you need to settle in! I haven't been to a resort that literally thinks of everything! Missing something? They will ensure it's on your doorstep asap! There is so much to see and do on your vacation to Tofino, but you'll definitely want to set some time aside for perusing around the hotel grounds or just enjoy a cup of coffee on your balcony and enjoy the sweet sounds of the crashing waves and the smell of fresh air. The grounds are well kept with beautiful flowers and not too much clutter to distract from the natural views. You're only steps away from all the outdoor adventures your heart desires, from paddle boarding and kayaking, to hot springs, fishing and hiking. Bonus, they are pet-friendly and also offer up to 60 private RV spots! Don't have an RV?They have 9 Glamping RV's you can rent as well! It's crazy because there was a vehicle in each spot but I didn't seem many people around, we were truly secluded in our private little nook which nice for a change!

Oh, the beautiful scenery! The tents and the horse drawn carriage amidst the luscious backdrop seriously makes you feel like you're in a superbly set LA production. Oh, I didn't even get to the 5 course dinners with wine pairings or the 'death row' where every bar, cookie and candy you could wish for is presented in glass jars. Being from the Bay Area, food is top priority in all travel. We were VERY pleased with the food. Chef even prepared our salmon roe for us that we caught during our stay. Yes prices are not cheap but you literally get everything included. Food and drinks, excursions (sans the heli excursions) with personal guides, seaplane transfer from Vancouver airport, massage, and a beautiful tent. If you stayed at any luxury place and paid for all the excursions separately it would ring you up quite a bit. It's more than fair! They are going through some transitions so it'll be interesting how they fare the next year or so. Was a family trust, so more of a lax feel from the guides (maybe a couple could be more knowledgeable?) and wait staff (did you forget my coffee again?) but the soon to be GM seems to have the tools to sharpen up the workers here. They're genuine which I love, and make you feel at home. Super fun to travel to a place where kids roam around freely, guests enjoy dinner together (met some very cool people we intend to stay in touch with!) and people are enjoying living in the moment sans phone. Can't wait to go back! Oh, brings me to another thing. Starting next year they are no longer doing a 3 night stay, I think minimum 5. Total bummer since the reason I chose this place was the ability to come for a weekend and not have to make it a 'vacation' and take a whole week off.. You guys want to make an exception?! The food is incredible- mostly farm to table, you have an opportunity to enjoy superb Canadian wines (which you can't get in the US), and the staff are gracious and ready to answer requests. The tents have been upgraded recently and they are spacious and very luxurious. You are able to enjoy the mountains and river without even leaving your tent. The activities range from horse back riding, to kayaking, to fishing, to hiking through old forest growth (1,00 year old trees) and more with guides who are so knowledgeable and personable that you just have the most enjoyable experience. By the time we ended our stay, we felt like we were saying goodbye to family. This definitely ranks in the top two vacations we've ever taken in our lives. Many thanks to Sarah and her amazing staff. We can't wait to come back! Suzie & Joe

The resort is immaculately maintained. Staff are very pleasing and accommodating. Our room was clean and hand sani was readily available. We booked an beach front suite and was completely blown away. Our backdoor opened up to a vast expanse of greenery which was 15 steps to the beach. Filled with picnic tables, fire-pits, hammocks, lawn chairs that face the ocean...what more can you ask for. It was a staycation 2.0 for sure. Upon entering our suite, a bottle of complimentary wine was waiting for us. All kitchen utensils were complete and ready for our use, properly sanitized. In the lobby, check in was a breeze. Free Rhino coffee and hot chocolate 24/7. A small service pantry was available if you forgot anything ...every detail was thought of and prepared for you. For guests, a free smores kit is being handed out for guests to enjoy the fire pit and bond around a campfire. Bike rentals can also be had for a mere $15 for 4 hrs or $30 the whole day. Our pet got to stay for free, with no extra pet cleaning fee, as a courtesy for returning guests. And of course, we were accorded a late checkout for us to enjoy our stay more. From the moment you wake up to the sound of the ocean and the cool breeze going through your window, you are surrounded by nature's beauty all around. Such an excellent place to relax and unwind and feel the sand between your toes. Miles and miles of beach to walk and explore, and the water provided a welcoming relief to the scorching heat. Yes, it is a bit pricey, i must admit. But once in a while, you have to treat and love yourself. This place is simply amazing. Watching the sunrise and set and see the glow of the beach at night from the moonlight, reminds you that life is beautiful. A must go for everyone. A must try for first timers. A must add-on for your bucket list. Explore your own backyard. Cheers! Happy exploring!

Waited to early 2025 this time and were excited to get into a fantastic Deluxe room king size bed on the third floor of the Pointe Building. So, where to begin with all the many amenities, attentive staff and management interactions! Room was a very clean rustic appeal and looked right over surf below. Meals in the circular area were all fantastic choices, the drinks enjoyable. They provided water waders and raincoats so we were able to walk on the beach next to the Inn and that was an amazing experience for us. Huge wide beach that went on for miles. Included breakfast was decent with boiled eggs, fresh fruit, fresh croissant, bagels, toast, ham/cheeses, and juices/coffee/tea. The negatives- The first lower level ocean view room with patio we stayed in the first night we checked the linens and bed as we normally would - discovered the sheets and pillow covers were past their prime and had that well used scent. Worse the duvet was likely hardly or never cleaned and had many stains, liquid spills/accidents, and what seemed like old blood. We notified the staff the next morning of this. Our second night we stayed at a upper level ocean view room with patio and checked the linens and bed - this room had similar condition linens and pillows and duvet didn't have as nearly as many stains. Our room had a micro patio offering a pretty good view of Mackenzie Beach if one leaned out over the railing. The lodge is very eco friendly going back to its original construction and furnishings. The setting is drop dead gorgeous with unobstructed views of Middle and MacKenzie beaches. Every employee we encountered throughout our stay proved to be both friendly and helpful. A continental breakfast is offered each day that covers the bases, but it became repetitive after 3 mornings. Dinner is served in season at the Lodge at the Headlands 5 nights per week with appetizers available in the Great Room beginning at 6PM. The evening's appetizer, lemon guacamole crustini, was excellent. At 7PM everyone joined a conga line for dinner that featured an entree of poached Chinook salmon with a spicy tomato chutney and lemon linguine. Three excellent salads were served buffet style - spicy quinoa, green beans and a mix salad with orange segments and roasted squash. Desserts included a choice of chocolate lava or mille-feuille. The chocolate lava cake was unexpectedly dry, the only misstep of the evening.

It's truly a great place to retreat and enjoy the sea. We found the room to be clean, cozy, and well updated. Service was good throughout the property and the grounds are well kept. On this visit, the food was better than our last and I had the opportunity to chat with the chef who goes out of his way to design a menu that is as inclusive (vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, etc) as possible-- which I personally appreciated very much.
