I have often visited this park for the playground and I believe I have been to the pool once or twice as a kid. My most recent visit was the first time I have ever walked the grounds of the mansion and I was so very impressed. I had no idea that there was another small playground near the mansion. I also did not know you could take a tour of the mansion. How cool! I love the historical signs all over the grounds and appreciate the county's effort in educating visitors and keeping the grounds so pristine. The pool, large playground, picnic areas, massive parking areas, historical significance, and wide open expanses are a few of the reasons you should totally go here! Enjoy the great outdoors!

Freshly mowed grass, nice little pond for fishing. Picnic area, benches, gazebo and a wonderful view of the surrounding mountainous area. Lots of geese habitating in this 20 acre pastureland area. Much more acreage surrounding. Horseshoe pits, tennis, volleyball. So fortunate to live in this beautiful place in Nevada. So much to do. Get outside!

They have a large picnic area, a fishing pond, horseshoe pits and a tennis court. In warmer weather there's volleyball and benches for viewing the majestic Sierra Nevada mountains.

Great park near Bentley Ranch and Huffaker Elementary School…read more This place is huge with large rolling grassy hills, two massive play structures, and walking paths winding throughout. The biggest downside here is the parking. It's pretty much street parking only in the bordering residential neighborhood. The size of the park also can be challenging given that there is only one restroom, especially if you have small children at the play structure. At least the bathroom was open- even in late February. This is pretty much a great park for any activity. Kids looking to climb and play? Perfect. Riding bikes or walking the dog? Great. Looking for a picnic spot with some after lunch horse shoes? This is your park. Throwing the frisbee around or kicking a soccer ball? Wheatland has got you covered. Aside from the parking and restroom, there is nothing bad to say about this park. It's clean, well maintained, and has plenty of space for all of the activities you desire. Enjoy.

To start: this is a beautiful park to walk around, let the kiddos ride bikes, have a picnic, or enjoy a book in the shade of the trees. They do have bathrooms here as well. This is a park for big kids, the structures are TALL and all slides have a drop, I would say no younger than 3 here! MAJOR Negative: no shade covering the kids play structures. (This seems to be a major issue around Reno.) I do feel like giving this park a 2 for the kids area: big kids only, no shade, lots of space for more, some structures need fixing. Giving it a 4 for everything else as it has amazing potential, a very large park in an extremely safe neighborhood. And can't get over how beautiful the rest of the park is. I would come here myself, but I wouldn't bring the kiddos again.

The description said that the kids would learn about Nevada…read morehistory and do activities like gold panning, lasso practice, campfire cooking, and other Wild West themed activities, but my son said none of that happened and he didn't learn anything about Nevada history at all. One of my biggest concerns was the handling of medications. My child takes medication twice a day, and it was apparently his responsibility to remind the counselors when it was time to take it. On more than one occasion, he had to wake his counselor up to let them know it was time for his medication. Had I not set alarms on his phone, he likely would have missed doses. When parents entrust a camp with their child's medication schedule, it should not fall on the child to make sure the adults are doing their job. The biggest issue was on the last day. The kids were told they couldn't go eat breakfast until they were finished packing. My son was the last in his group to finish packing. By the time he was done, all the food was gone because the other kids had already eaten and gone back for seconds and thirds. He eventually got a bag of chips and a piece of fruit after telling the counselors that he hadn't received any breakfast. No child should be left without a proper meal, especially when meals are supposed to be provided. On top of that, some of the counselors seemed disinterested in interacting with the kids, disorganized, and overwhelmed. From what my son described, the camp felt like a free-for-all with very little structure or direction. Overall, the camp did not deliver what was advertised, and we will not be returning. In my opinion, before offering any more overnight camps, the organization needs to provide better counselor training, improve supervision and medication management, and create a clear plan to ensure the activities listed in the camp description actually take place.

Stay Safe due to the Davis Fire…read more.. Quality/Quantity - Nice small visitor center. Educational, small gift shop, and has clean restrooms. Plenty of volunteers/team members. So many different trails. A very easy paved 0.4 mile loop hike, gravel path hikes, and of course, rough dirt hikes. Potential flooding, especially after a huge winter. Stay on the trails, as many paths have natural erosion. Stay safe. There used to be a fish hatchery here, see website. Not sure if it closed...? Also lots of wildlife; again, stay safe - Coyotes, bobcats, mule deer, black beers (we get this at the house also, LOL), mountain lions, rodents (too many to name), bats, birds, reptiles, etc. Atmosphere - Visitor center may be small, but they are packed full of information. Also cool decor, see pictures. There are also campsites, BBQ, picnic areas, volleyball courts, horse shoe, clean bathrooms, and plenty of parking (cars, RVs, buses, etc). There is even a stage in Eagle Meadows for events. Open 7 days a week from 7am to 7pm (hours are also seasonal, see website). Clean bathrooms throughout the different parking lots and camp sites. Horse trails and minimum bike trails, see picture. Visitor center; it was actually open today. Thank you volunteers. Last time we were here was during the winter; what a difference with the seasons. Service - Self-service today. Price - Free today. Owner Comment - Thank you Washoe County for another great park!

Camping is available for a fee. A "beach" area along the river perfect for fishing. We have visited several times and it is always clean. I would definitely recommend if you want a place easy to access yet you feel away from the hustle and bustle. Potentially a perfect get away spot that is not packed.

Dayton State Park is a lovely little park with a historic background surrounding silver mining in…read morethe area. There are only 10 campsites and until Covid-19 hit, you could almost always find a spot. That's no guarantee now but I suspect visitation will subside over winter with no hookups at the park. It does get quite cold here in the winter. The sites are gravel and largely level. The first half of the loop is more tent-friendly sized spaces and the latter half have a bit more room for larger rigs. They are all surrounded by majestic cottonwoods that are utterly glorious in the fall. The tree cover is great for summer shade but a challenge if you're managing a solar setup. There are some sites that are less shaded to offset that, though. There's central water, flush toilets, and trash receptacles. The dump station is open intermittently and I've yet to understand the pattern to when it is and isn't. There are two free dump stations I'm aware of in Carson City, though -- at the Maverik (at Hwy 50 and College Ave.) and the new Golden Gate (at College Ave. and Retail Dr.) The park is split by Hwy 50 with the stamp mill ruins on the west side and the campground and restrooms on the east side. There is a foot tunnel connecting the two bits but it's a bit dicey from a safety standpoint so I'd recommend strolling to the aboveground crosswalk a little down the road. Dayton State Park is a sweet little place full of potential but largely unloved and overlooked. As a former Dayton resident, I've gotten to witness the park's challenges over time. In talking with the park supervisor about it, she acknowledged Dayton has its struggles, sometimes involving crime, and that the Nevada park system is underfunded and understaffed like most public lands departments. I've not had any issues when staying there but have witnessed some questionable activity in the day use area. It seems the tide is turning as locals have begun to reclaim it in recent months and have been putting in substantial volunteer time to freshen it up and give it the love it deserves. I'm hopeful that effort will help Dayton SP become a destination instead of just a place to stop over for the night. We're looking forward to joining in after our post-full-timer lives once we get our house built nearby. A note about fires: this is a volatile wildfire area so charcoal fires and smoking outdoors are often banned much of the year. Don't count on being able to grill in any Nevada State Park during fire seasons. Have a backup plan or support some of the local business in my little town -- Js' Oldtown Bistro on Main Street is absolutely wonderful. It's my absolute favorite restaurant but since it's off the main drag (US 50), you might not notice it. And for scrumptious tamales and other Mexican fare, The Lady Tamales is right by the park. The Pizza Factory has also delivered to us in the park if you're looking for your dinner to come to you.

Turns out, the price I was quoted was just for cleaning and inspection. The person that took my gear did not explain it that way. If the service and parts price had been mentioned I would have only had 1 reg and the BCD serviced. The final price of service and parts was 4 times the quoted cost of cleaning. It took 4 weeks after dropping it all off for them ot even start to look at any of it. It then took another 2 1/2 weeks to get it finshed. The quality of the work was good, but expensive and slow.
