Mrs. Doubtfire House~ The movie site of my favorite Robin Williams movie, RIP to the most hilarious actor!

"I'm a hip old granny who can hip-hop, bebop, dance til ya drop and yo-yo, make a wicked cup of cocoa."~Mrs. Doubtfire The movie site of my favorite Robin Williams movie, other honorable mentions Flubber, Aladdin and Happy Feet! This hilarious 1993 comedy is based off the book Madame Doubtfire. Daniel, a dad of 3 is in the middle of a divorce and decides to pose as an old British nanny so he could spend more time with his children. RIP to the most hilarious actor who graced this earth, "aka" the man of many voices! It's sad to see a man who seemed so happy was hurting inside, I cried when he took his own life in 2014 and still cherish his movies. I would definitely recommend checking out this movie sight if you're a fan of the films, even if only for a quick photo. Something special knowing the all star cast were once here! Note: This is a residential home, no tours available as respect to its residents. *Song credit: Acoustic Guitar 1 by audionautix.com License: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode

So cool seeing this building. Of course, I had to watch the movie before and after the visit. There was also a nice saying on the tree in front for Robin Williams. there was also a hotel room key, but I don't know the significance of the hotel room key.

It's cool to see this house in person. A little underwhelming, LOL, but still cool! There is nothing on the house labeling it from the movie besides the address. There were only a few people coming to take photos in front of the house during the weekday, so maybe weekends are more busy? Not sure. Definitely worth a drive-by, at least!

Mrs. Doubtfire is one of my favorite films, so much that I memorized the address of the Hillard home (which is the actual address of this house). Needless to say, I made it a priority to visit the famous house during my time in San Francisco. I was exploring nearby Haight-Ashbury and Alamo Square park and noticed it was about a 30 minute walk to the house, so I decided to get some exercise in and make my way over. The house, located at 2640 Steiner Street, is in the Pacific Heights area of the city. This is one of the wealthiest areas of San Francisco, which I can totally believe because all the houses here are simply magnificent. The house is huge, and besides a slight color change and replacement of the front steps, looks exactly as it did in the film. Beyond the house, it's worth walking around the neighborhood to soak in all the eye candy. I totally had a fanboy moment here, and if you're like me it's definitely worth a visit.

I live next door to famous houses, famous houses that hit the radar about twelve years ago and tourists began swarming in droves, toting cameras and taking selfies. But I'm glad I don't live in one of those famous houses. People will actually look in windows, ask owners what they paid for their home, all sorts of odd questions. So I understand why the new owners of the Mrs. Doubtfire House put up a stumpy gate at the end of their brick steps. Easy enough to step over, it's a little silly: It's not going to stop folks from leaving flowers to honor actor/comedian Robin Williams whose character "lived" here nor will interest die down anytime soon. It's not going to stop anyone from climbing the brick steps and taking selfies at the front door. (Ask the tech bro who threw up his arms in frustration with the crowds and annoyances and sold his home on Broderick, the Full House house. And yeah, it was purchased by the Full House producer & they might start shooting there, have fun neighbors!) The Mrs. Doubtfire House is newly painted grey and no longer the rich, buttercream color. Maybe they thought they could go incognito? Fat chance. It's a lovely home, if you look at the upper windows you'll see some pretty stenciling (you'll have to go see for yourself, I didn't want to intrusively photograph their charming windows.) Add it to the list of famous movie locations, San Francisco has many along with its stunning natural beauty.

Just a house. Cool to look at but other than that it's not much else. People taking pictures.

Such a beautiful house. Beautiful memories. It's a quiet area of the city, but it does get busy during tourist season. It's a peaceful looking home...just like the way I hope Robin Williams is at in his state right now (R.I.P.) This is more of a "take a few pictures", give your condolences and then keep exploring the city.

The Mrs. Doubtfire House is on the corner of Broadway and Steiner in the Pacific Heights neighborhood in The City. In my line of work, I often get asked by tourists if I have been to two iconic houses filmed in San Francisco: The 'Mrs. Doubtfire' house and the 'Full House' house. I've lied in the past and said yes, but I can no longer live with this lie as it's eating me inside filling me with shame and horror that I must rectify at once. So a few weeks ago during my day off, I happened to be in the area and decided to pay a visit so that I can finally lift this burden of shame hanging over me like a dark and gloomy cloud. I parked a block away and walked to the house on an overcast and foggy day - a typical San Francisco weather. Then she appeared before me where she stood like a Grand Dame of old Hollywood standing out within the the other Victorian Houses saying, "Look at me; here I am!" It's also been over a year since Robin Williams passed away and his spirit was felt lingering in the cool and misty air. In front of the house are two trees filled with tributes etched on their bark like a tattoo permanently inked on a skin, and stones filled with messages of love laid on the base of the trees. What a wonderful memorial that organically transpired and fully supported by the house's owners knowing the impact it had to all his fans. For that I commend them. The house itself is beautiful, majestic and charming that is undeniably and uniquely screams San Francisco. As I begin to leave and walk back to my car, it started to sprinkle and felt a little sad and happy at the same time as I recall running into Robin Williams twice in my life - once was inside the elevator of UCSF on Parnassus and the other was at Crissy Field where he was jogging with his then second wife. No, I didn't ask for an autograph or took a selfie with him, but I just nodded each time and gave him a wink. These are memories I will cherish with me as it always gives me a smile whenever I think about them. Thank you, Robin Williams. You have made a lot of people smile, laugh and cry, and I wish you were still here with us.

When you look at a map, the distance to this place isn't so bad. And then you see it. The hill. Oy, the hill. But I wasn't going to let this hill defeat me from my objective. And you know what? It was worth it. It's still the same house and you'll recognize it because there are people taking picture of it. I had to wait a bit to get my clear pictures while a woman with the bright red boots got her selfies done and moved along. Not much else here. Do take a moment to look at the stones under the tree in front. What a movie!

Mrs doubtfire house is a must see when visiting San Francisco although it's not much to see but the house it self but it's on the corner of Steiner & Broadway streets. just standing around the house taking pictures of it brings me back to when the movie came out. I grew up watching robin Williams play this classic roll as a sweet old house sitter, and I can just see Sally fields opening up the door when mrs doubtfire rings the bell. Such a classic movie, till this day I never get bored of watching this movie, it's sad to see Robin Williams go such a talented actor. The house still looks as it did in the movie, it still has its Gorgeous charm it's big and it's very beautiful. If you plan to visit using mass transit you can take the 22 Filmore bus line or if your traveling by car you can gps 2640 Steiner street.

I must admit, my childhood was not filled with the constant watching of Mrs. Doubtfire, but I did watch it once or twice so I got an idea of how it's suppose to be. This house is a house. It's nothing more than a house that is located in San Francisco, about 0.6 miles away from the "Full House" house. Parking is all on the streets and since it's residential, there is no need for coins. The house itself is gorgeous. My cousin and I only looked at it from across the street because we didn't want to be creepers right outside of the house. Definitely a nice reminder of your childhood hero, Robin Williams. Come here and just enjoy the beauty that is an expensive San Francisco home.

    RIP Robin Williams

As both a kid of the 90's and a mama of two small kiddos, a quick visit to the "Mrs. Doubtfire House" was on our list of things to do while in San Fran. It goes hand in hand with all of the other similar touristy spots such as the "Full House house" and "The Painted Ladies". This house takes on such a new powerful essence since the tragic passing of the late great Robin Williams. Many have left rocks they with written messages on them, and others have gone as far as actually writing around the tree in front of the house. They are currently doing construction on the house and one of the workers told us a fan left a beautiful sketch of Robin on the steps. This house has become more than just a movie set, but rather a memorial of sorts to fans of hilarious and uber talented Robin. The kiddos immediately asked to watch the movie again after we left. They were excited to see the house again now that they had been here. They got a kick out of it all. I'm definitely glad we visited. Not just to make the kiddos happy but to also pay respect. It doesn't take much time to stop by although parking isn't the easiest. We just parked in front and hopped out really quickly. They ask that you not park illegally or make too much noise. Just be respectful.

It was a drive by fruiting dear!

It was really cool to listen to the waves through this "wave organ." I thought it was newer but had no idea it was built in 1986! The Wave Organ uses 25 PVC pipes (and stone reclaimed from an old cemetery!) to channel the Bay's waves into eerie, soothing rumbles, gurgles, sloshes and hisses. Definitely put your ears up to the pipes to hear the magic. Pro tip, wish I knew beforehand: go during high tide (that's when the "music" is apparently the best!). 10/10 recommend for a lazy walk and chill moment with the sound of the Bay!

A quick tip: because of the way the Wood Line is designed, this stretch can turn into a full-on wind tunnel. Definitely layer up; it can get chilly even on a sunny day. The rows of eucalyptus trees create built-in boundaries, which makes it much easier to manage a group while still giving them a sense of freedom and exploration. There are also spots nearby where kids can build and expand on makeshift shelters using fallen branches, perfect for imaginative play, teamwork, and a little hands-on engineering. There are often dogs off leash in this part of the Presidio, but we've never had any issues along this particular stretch. One especially memorable visit included spotting an owl nesting in the trees.
