Thana Asia is a takeaway restaurant with clean brightly lit dining area. The service was really friendly, and the moment I walked in, I was presented with a menu in English. I guess my Hallo didn't sound German enough! I've never eaten Vietnamese before, so I took the opportunity to sample a Vietnamese starter and pork-based main course. I had to wait about 15 minutes for my food to be ready, but when it came it was an absolute delight. If all Vietnamese food is this good, I shall have to find a restaurant a bit closer to where I live. There was a family with two young kids and a toddler, and the toddler was getting restless and starting to cry. Without being asked, the waitress brought the family a laptop-like electronic game for young kids, and all three kids remained silent and entertained, and the adults were spared the wailing of a restless toddler. The bill was very reasonable too, so I really have nothing to complain about. If I was to make one remark, it would be that the restaurant is not very cosy and lacks any kind of atmosphere. Informal dining only here!

It could be that New Year's Day, where there wasn't a hell of a lot open, might be a busy time. It also might've been the fact that we were hungry and sat where we could watch the servers dart back and forth, just not with our food. When it finally got there, it was fantastic! Nothing "knock you off your feet" wonderful, but as it should be. So, food, four stars. Enough, affordable, and goood! The service, attentive, but was waaaay too long between ordering and eating. Minus a star. But plus one, because the sweet waitress was hot! All in all, 4 stars.

A special "Danke" to the owner who decided to make me food to go even though I showed up after they were closed. (Note: they close at 10pm (22:00) on Friday). Fresh food and quality ingredients. Nothing from a can or jar that I could see, and you can watch him being a master chef in the glass kitchen. A very small place inside, but there is also eating outside. Definitely a hidden gem. Girls who work there were friendly and wonderful. I know where I am going for lunch tomorrow!

The lumpia and ukoy were fantastic starters and were incredibly tasty and crunchy. The chicken inasal was sizzling, juicy and flavorful. We also had the lechon kawali, which is probably one of the best, if not the best, lechon kawali I've had--the skin was crispy and the pork super tender. The sauce on top was also quite special. I ended that night with leche flan and ube macapuno panna cotta. During my next visit, I had the oxtail kare kare, which was quite delicious and peanut buttery, just the way I like it. I then tried the chicken rebosado for the first time ever and it was incredible! Honestly, I was a bit upset that I've lived so long without trying such a tasty dish. The chicken was coated with a delicious sweet sauce and the meat was very juicy and tender. On top of their great food, their drinks were also very well done. The best espresso martini I've had. The servers were incredibly attentive, friendly, and kind. They truly go out of their way to make sure your time with them is special. This absolutely makes sense once you meet Chef Larry, who despite being super busy in the kitchen took time out to check in all of his guests. The restaurant itself was conveniently located and the vibe was quite relaxing. This is a place where you want to take your time, enjoy great food, drinks, and be treated well. I will definitely be back when I return to the area. I highly recommend this place to everyone--Filipinos and non-Filipinos alike!
