The service was alright. The steak that my husband got wasn't good no flavor and not cooked how he wanted it. Ahi tuna was good though but also the lobster Mac was ight. I'm guessing the gentle that helped us was the manager was nice. read more

I am guessing that Mr. Mikes is the Canadian version of America's TGIF. Today is my birthday and I wanted to have a sit down meal somewhere during my ten hour drive (I am driving from Wyoming to Alaska). So we went in around 2:30 pm. The restaurant was empty except one table and a few people in the bar. Service was ok, not the best, but I can understand the server was either an opener or closer, cleaning up after a busy lunch shift or getting ready for the dinner rush. My food was good, nothing to write home about. Steak was cooked perfect. Nothing crazy special. I asked for my cheesecake to go since we needed to hit the road again. Was charged full price, not happy hour price. It's cool though, it's only a $2.50 difference. Wouldn't be my normal choice for a birthday dinner but it seems like a great place to go for after work drinks with work friends or get happy hour. read more

I had a lettuce wrapped chicken club burger. It was quite tasty. Service was great. I hate when you're given a lettuce wrapped burger and they just kind of toss it on the plate instead of wrapping it. That's a small thing I suppose, and maybe some people prefer it that way. I was in Fort St John for work and had dinner a few times during my stay here since it was within walking distance from my hotel. On my first visit, I had the steak salad which came with a 6oz flat iron steak with a chipotle salad topped with crispy tortilla strips. The salad was more like a slaw and I actually wish it came with less tortilla strips! The steak was cooked nicely to a medium rare but could've used more flavour. On my second visit, I had the rib eye steak with a side of veggies and a twice baked potato. I was a bit disappointed with the quality of steak. For a rib eye, I was expected a thicker cut and less gristle. I also had a side of their deep fried pickles which were pretty tasty. Service is really friendly at the bar but can be hit or miss when sitting at one of the tables in the lounge. There are plenty of TVs in the bar area. read more

This is my go-to restaurant every time. Its super great for team meals, family and friend gatherings and definitely date nights. It's consistent with delicious food, fantastic service and tasty drinks. Plus they have a good selection of board games and sports on several TVs within the lounge side. I have frittered away many a sunny summer afternoon slurping bighorn lager and trading amusing lies with friends on the patio of Mr. Mikes and have discovered a few undisputed truths. 1) Beer tastes better served in frosty steins. Mike's house lager and ale only come in 22 ounce servings No beer snobbery here, ice cold, not overly hoppy and large enough you'll be grateful for the handle. 2) Sharing a sh#% ton of appetizers qualifies as dinner. I'm a fan of the stuffed mushroom caps, loaded with shrimp and smothered in charbroiled cream cheese. Or try the sirloin tips, breaded and fried but surprisingly tender and savory. I could have made a meal out of dunking my garlic toast in the chipotle ranch dip!! 3) Great service can be attributed to sharp management. The staff here is well trained. Different day, different faces, same top notch service. 4) Happy hour can drag on to closing time, but take advantage of the 2:30 to 5:30 specials on drinks and snacks. 5) Drunk and happy is contagious. The food is here is good... The atmosphere is decent. We came here with business associates for dinner and enjoyed it, but the service was VERY slow. Our waitress was very un observant to us waiving our hands we wanted the check... Poor thing just had a blank stare on her face as she wondered back and forth from the kitchen... Maybe she's having a bad..... Felt bad for her. But when in FSJ and staying at the super 8 it's a decent place for eats... Also they now have free wifi read more

One night while in town for a visit, my brother and few friends decided to go. Out for dinner and we came to Mr Mikes. It was fairly busy but we were seated right away. The waitress was really friendly and attentive. When we ordered food, it took a decent amount of time and the wait was definitely worth it. Mr Mikes in Calgary gave me brutal food poisoning. I cheered myself up by imitating the Darth Vader voice while my head was in the bowl. I have avoided it since. It took half a bottle of rye to get me back while I was out of town at a different location. Very good. The server was great (LOVED the tattoos) and the food was tasty and fresh. I had the shrimp stuffed shrooms to start. Very tasty. The shrimp was finely cut and made into a sauce/paste with what I took to be cream cheese and seasoning and cooked in a mushroom cap. For my main, I had the teriyaki chicken bowl. Fresh veg, chicken and rice touched with oh mighty, glorious teriyaki sauce. It was delightful. I won't touch a Calgary location again, but in FSJ, I may need to go back. read more

For Fort St. John this is a pretty good place, the food is good and the service is better than the FSJ norm (which is non-existent). Whenever I've been for lunch it's always packed, which I guess is a good sign. The last time I was there I was with family and we had the bacon-wrapped scallops and spinach dip for appies, and I had the scallop and shrimp salad. I passed on the bacon-wrapped scallops as I had them in my salad too, but the spinach dip was pretty good except for the uber-salty tortilla chips. The salad was great though, not heavy on the dressing which I appreciate. read more

Easily the best place to go for lunch or dinner or late evening appies in FSJ. The steak is always good here. The only negative thing I would mention is that sometimes the service can be really good, and other times it can be very slow. read more

In town for work and I'm avoiding most gluten and steak was a good option. I wasn't expecting much as I've had an overpriced subpar meal at Mr. Mikes in Duncan BC so I was surprised at how good this restaurant was. My steak was ordered "very rare" and it was a shade more cooked than blue (perfect for me!). Usually I get them overcooked and I hate sending food back so I eat an unenjoyable steak. My steak was perfect and aggressively seasoned (in a good way). The service was not hovering and super friendly and not rushed (despite the busyness of the restaurant at 6:30 on a Saturday). Amazing spiked caesar with pickled beans... all in all, very satisfying for a reasonable price. read more

They didn't fire a staff member when their Halloween costume accidentally offended some people, so props for that. The food is good too.

Our steaks were good and the veggies and side were excellent. Service was very slow, but the meal made up.

Always had good meals and good service at the FSJ Mikes. Servers have been attentive and food has been pretty quick.
