For the love of bluebell ice cream! If you love a variety of ice creams, this is a cute spot. Everything in there is bluebell I ordered a single scoop of banana pudding ice cream, which was amazing. The service was quick. It was very clean and FYI they do not allow you to sample the flavors. read more

Came in for dessert after dinner on the riverwalk. Ordered a cup of strawberry ice cream and a banana split with chocolate/coffee/banana ice cream. Staff was friendly, made the banana split to order. The ice cream here is bluebell and tastes good. Bad part is they don't offer samples, would have been nice as majority of ice cream places do for customers. The place could have been a bit cleaner as well. The worst part was one of the workers had friends in the store and they were cursing up a storm and talking about personal stuff, even while customers were there and waiting. read more

Mr Ice Cream - Banana split - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

Place looked worn and tired. My banana split was melted by the time we got it because they spilled the container and cleaned the lid before pouring the nuts on which was the last step. They also took a long time cutting the banana which went on after the ice cream was scooped. Then the whip cream ran out so they had to get more. Just everything went wrong. So I think it maybe wouldn't have melted otherwise. Not sure. Water cost extra. Also hot fudge, peanut sauce and even sprinkles (yes sprinkles) are extra. They have a small balcony for river view watching. Ice cream was good. read more

So, Wonder Wife and I spent some time on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. It was her first time, and we wanted to do the riverboat experience. When we saw there were about 100 people in line, we decided we'd just take a nice stroll. We had a nice time, but at the end of it we were both really hot and ready for something cool. Mr. Ice Cream was nearby and the air-conditioned interior was a welcomed relief. The ice cream is Blue Bell, which is good and the portion size was generous. Also, it wasn't overly expensive. But, I wouldn't rate the experience as anything more than average. First, the place is old ... which can be charming, but only if the place is super clean and this place isn't. So, it just comes across as poorly maintained. Second, the service is going to be hit or miss. We had two ladies there who were serving ice cream. We'll call one Miss Tattoo and the other Miss Sloth. Miss Tattoo was super energetic and chatty. Miss Sloth moved like... well, a sloth. Our luck, we ended up with Miss Sloth. I was afraid the ice cream would melt between the time she scooped and it was in my hand. Really, the most frustrating thing were the utensils. The ice cream was hard, and the spoons are so thin they're mostly useless. Also, the straw they gave us for Wonder Wife's shake was far too narrow to be used with a milkshake. Those straws should come with a warning label - "Your eyes might pop out of your head before the milkshake reaches your mouth". Blue Bell is great ice cream, but these flavors are all available at HEB. It's a nice stop after walking around the Riverwalk, but probably not some place we'll hit again. read more

One word. Roaches. It's pretty disgusting to see German cockroaches in an eating establishment. Not that the place was anywhere near clean, but still. read more

Great experience! Got in pretty late so it wasn't too busy. I try not to take great customer service for granted. Rogelio took awesome care of us with solid recommendations and proactive, friendly service. We got a banana royal and small shake. So many flavors I wanted to try but they can't do samples due to Covid so you just have to pick. Went with strawberry cheesecake per recommendation and it did not disappoint. Cookies n cream was good. All the ice cream is blue bell so you can't really go wrong. It's a small spot so depending on your group size you might want to take your goods to the Riverwalk (in other words, great location too). read more

This place leaves much to be desired. I would not recommend. With the amount of icecream places on the river walk, pass this one by and try another. The inside is dirty and old. They weigh it out to make sure you aren't getting any extra. The spoons are so cheap and flimsy that they can't even scope the hard icecream. So terrible. read more

What better way to stay cool and enjoying the view in San Antonio than eating ice cream along the Riverwalk. We were walking along the Riverwalk and saw the sign above us for Mr Ice Cream. They serve Blue Bell ice cream which is local to Texas located in Brenham. There are plenty of flavors to choose from. You can order them in a cup or come or waffle cones. They also have different toppings like hot fudge. Shop is well lighted and was ok. There is a bar and some tables inside. There was a line of people waiting to be served when we came in. There were 2 scoopers that night so line went quickly. We ordered 2 scoops in a cup... sea salt caramel and Dutch chocolate. They were yummy! even though it may be an unlikely combo. After grabbing our order went out the back where there are some table and chairs where you can enjoy your ice cream while people watching walking along the Riverwalk. This is one of our favorite stops in San Antonio. read more

Great ice cream, they don't have samples so I went with the person who worked there's recommendation. I had the salted caramel, my buddy had the banana pudding. Both taste great, it was about $9.50 for each of us to have 1 scoop. read more

Huge line wrapped around the corner of the room, no sense of urgency by the workers. Very slow and monotone considering there are signs on the wall saying they have "friendly staff". Store looked dirty with the sink overflowing, food splattered on the walls, and machines out of order. read more

After a no less exciting than expected visit to the Alamo, but a very nice dinner at a restaurant on the Riverwalk, we opted for Mr. Ice Cream in lieu of sampling that restaurant's dessert menu. This place was reminiscent of an old-time ice cream shop; a case for hand scooped ice cream served on a cone or in a cup, some slushy creations, toppings, and specialty items like sundae's. The kids each got their usual favorite; my youngest enjoys the peanut butter and chocolate, my daughter always gets some weird pink fruity thing that takes the enamel off your teeth, and my wife and I enjoyed our favorites to. Nice kids behind the counter, with a corny but not unpleasant 50s vibe to the whole joint. When we arrived, there was no line, but we must've timed it perfectly, because as they were finishing our scoops, a whole bunch of people showed up and the line started sneaking out towards the door. We had a seat inside at one of the tables with high stools, a nice respite from the heat and humidity outside. read more

Delightful small ice cream shop, serving blue bell ice cream. Located above the River Walk, look for the sign pointing up the steps or enter from the street level. Staffed by a solo ice cream scooper, "yes, there's a Mrs Ice cream, she's home with Mr Ice Cream," this is a true local small business. There's seating at the counter and tables, and a generous selection of ice cream flavors from which to select. read more

It says online that they validate parking, so I parked in the lot across the street. When I paid and asked to get my parking validated the girl was extremely rude and dismissive. Ended up having to pay $25 for parking for less than 20 minutes. Would have chosen a different place for ice cream if the details online had been accurate read more

Conveniently located by the Riverwalk San Antonio. It is a Small ice cream shop without flashy frontage. And most of the time only one server is there, but the service efficiency was not reduced. And as for ice cream , you can never go wrong with Blue Bell They even have some of the Hispanic flared fruity items, we ordered a watermelon killer, which was delicious. There is garage parking right across street very convenient. read more

I just want to shed some light on Ava and Justin. They're very kind and great servers. A woman left a nasty review because they didn't have the ice cream she wanted. Ava and Justin were both VERY respectful in the situation and told her maybe Justin's ice cream has it. She was being ridiculous and Ava and Justin didn't deserve that!!! Icecreams are good but nothing special. They take only cash and had only one lady for complete shop. So it took time to order and get your frozen winders in your hand. They have small patio outside with 3-4 tables to sit and enjoy seeing river walk from top view. They has enough flavor varieties and that's what they claim on their board to attract customers. We took sundaes and lady was generous enough to top it up properly. read more

My friend and I visited Mr. Ice Cream for the first time during our break and were excited to try it since it's close to work. We both ordered the same sundae (the two scoops), but the two were drastically different in size and presentation. My friend's looked great, but mine was small, melted, and messy--rainbow ice cream was mixed in with my rocky road, like they reused scoops without cleaning them. When I brought it up, the employee offered to remake it but did so in a way that felt dismissive and unbothered. I left my number asking to speak with a manager, but no one ever reached out. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and definitely not what I expected on a first visit. read more

Great service with a smile here! I had a hankering for a treat in this heat. My selection was a two-scoop of blackberry cobbler and black cherry on a regular cone. It was a good choice, I devoured it before it started melting. The flavors are plentiful and the prices are reasonable. I'll definitely return. read more

A bit disappointed with this place. I usually stop by for an ice cream. Haven't been here for a while, wanted to try several samples to make a decision on which one to order, since they have about 37 flavors. When I asked for 3rd sample I've been rudely told that it's my last one. On question "why" I just got that they don't have enough ice cream because people trying a lot. The place is cash only I got an ice cream, but only because I was with friends. Next time rather will stop by another place. read more

Mr Ice Cream was the ice cream shop we saw along the walk to the Riverwalk in San Antonio. They had Blue Bell Ice Cream and I was craving dessert since it was a very warm day. Prices were a little steep though but their ice cream was delish. A good selection of ice cream flavors. The portion for their ice cream was too pricy for me as the size of the one scoop was like a mandarin size! I do know that Blue Bell is their known Texas local ice cream and its good. Store was small and they had a small patio area in the back to sit and watch people overlooking the River. The staff seemed to not feel like working that day but was attentive. Many people came through and the line went by fast. [20th/100] read more

Cute little place along the River walk. Has a sign to point us to walk couple stairs up to their ice cream shop.We went there like 7:30pm, waited in line around 20mins, just wanted something to snack on the way walking back to our hotel. Worth the wait! We only tried 1 scoop waffle cone for each of us. I think we got Cherry Cobbler & Almond Fudge; they were so good. The best ice cream in our trip as we tried 2 other places and not like much. read more

We searched high and low for Blue Bell ice cream near the area we were staying in SATX. The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory downstairs by the riverwalk had some, but Mr Ice Cream had more flavors available so we opted to come here. I was a bit grossed out by how sticky and dirty the countertops and floor were. But, the ice cream was great. It also seems like this place needs to be updated; sometimes when you keep the look & feel of late 80's, early 90s, it's charming. But, this wasn't. 231/365 read more

The milkshakes were really good. It was rich with chocolate. The guy working there did some flips with the cup and it was entertaining.

First, I wish I had taken photos of the ice cream as much of them look like they've been melted and then refrozen and some looked like they had a freezer burn. Second, when I asked her how her day was going, she curtly answered 'I'm working' - well Gee whiz lady - you have a job and can pay bills - maybe don't complain to customers. Third - The thermometers in the cases were different temps - but There were a few that looked OK - but what cinched the NO-BUY deal was the fact she wouldn't let us have a sample - she was blaming it on the pandemic. Today is September 30 2022 and I'm in Texas and that was a BS answer. So she lost her business. So we walked down to the Riverwalk 500 feet and found the rocky mountain chocolate to also serve bluebell ice cream and bought from them! See my review read more

This ice cream place is one of many on the Riverwalk. Does it stand out to me in particular? Not really, but neither do any of the others. This place is good for a relatively cheap cup of ice cream (around $3 for one large scoop). Yes, I know it's not homemade. It's just Blue Bell ice cream bought in large containers. However, I loved all the flavor options. I sampled quite a few before going with the Krazy Kookie Dough (cake batter flavor with sugar cookie dough chunks), because I was in the mood for something really sweet. It perfectly satisfied my sweet tooth! Pretty cramped inside and not much seating, but don't be afraid to enjoy your ice cream while walking the beautiful Riverwalk. read more

What a joke! My wife wanted ice cream for her birthday and unfortunately, this was the only place open at 10:00. She got a double scoop of a store brand of ice cream, for $6. It was literally two small scoops set on top of a cake cone. Nothing shoved into the cone, nothing extra. Maybe a half cup of ice cream total. By my math, they are getting almost $200 for a gallon of ice cream. No amount of "quaintness" excuses that. read more
