So glad that this place is right by my hotel. It came highly recommended and I was glad I was able…read moreto have dinner here. Since it was just me, I was able to get a seat at the bar. It was pretty cool because it looks in on the opened kitchen. Everything that I ate was delicious. Might have to come back again.

Really bad experience for me overall. Rude wait staff and the worst pho I've ever eaten. I ordered a pho bo and was brought a coke. The waiter was rather rude when I explained that he must have misheard (I actually don't even drink soda so I know I did not misspeak). In the end, I told him I would pay for the misunderstanding and that he could go ahead and take the coke away. The pho comes out quickly, but several things were different from what I would consider normal. No hoisin sauce (though this was solved by requesting it from the waiter), some mix of very small red peppers (not a big difference from the larger green peppers I'm used to), no lime (lemon instead bizarrely), and the cilantro was on the side plate and not in the broth. The noodles were wide (think linguine) instead of thin rice noodles. This made the noodles great at first though they eventually became soggy. There was not a lot of beef though it was good and cut into very small chunks. The broth was very poor. Very light, nearly tasteless. It tasted like severely watered down pho broth. In the end, however, even the worst pho I've ever had (which this no doubt was) is still pho and therefore decent after some considerable additions. If things ended here, this would have been a two or three star review... Nearly halfway through my pho I made a quick stop to the washroom. Upon returning, I noticed they had taken my pho. After several minutes a different waiter came to ask how my meal was. I told him I was still eating and when I was in the middle of telling him they took my pho away too soon he turned and walked away. Not commenting in anyway. No apology. Nothing. Though I'm certain this was an off night for them, I will not be returning to find out.

First of all, the small restaurant at the corner is simply sweet, easy to reach and the decoration is great. The food it pretty authentic, I've been in Vietnam already and I have to admit this is very close to the "original". The soup is fantastic and also the beef on the weekly menu simply marvelous. Stopping here: rating 5 stars But unfortunately there was also the service which was definitely not worth a five star rating. They were inattentive, having someone at the desk to place your order took ages and in fact nobody cared if your glasses were empty. The reaction of the waitress when I asked her if she was sure about the bill, was strange. Somehow she tried to tell me, that I can't to do the math. Okay, I paid what she asked for. Just the second I wanted to leave the restaurant she came after me and told me that I still owe her 10 bugs. Nevertheless, friends visit this place quite often (which means it has to be good) and I think they just had a bad day, but that can ruin a nice evening.

FOOD & DRINKS I have been at this location a few times…read morealready. All I get here is the banh mi and maybe a Vietnamese avocado smoothie. My preferred option is the banh mi dac biet which is basically their special with pate and meat. The baguette they use for the banh mi unfortunately isn't really fresh. They only toast it for a few minutes and it turns up more on the softer side. If you are used to the Subway bread, this might be ok for you but a Vietnamese baguette should be fresh, very crispy on the outside and very fluffy on the inside. The veggies tasted fresh, the pate was ok but not exciting and the meat were a few cold fatty cuts of pork. In my opinion the veggies could have been pickled a bit more. They just tasted like ordinary fresh veggies. The avocado smoothie was nice. SERVICE The guy who took my order was very nice and friendly. Same goes for the two cute Vietnamese girls. I asked for some Vietnamese chili with my banh mi and while they skimped a bit on the chili, the guy was only worried that I couldn't take the heat. ATMOSPHERE This place is small but has a few tables and some seats at the window. I would say the building is quite old but they made the best to make it look fresh and trendy. Some corners and decoration items really need some cleaning though. RATING I wish I could give this place one more star. I really do but the execution of the key components for a banh mi are just not up there yet. I mean its fine if you really want to eat some Vietnamese banh mi but for someone who has eaten so many banh mi around the world, I just can't justify 4 stars at that price.
