Large Chinese restaurant serving a very wide range of dishes. I'm not the biggest fan of Chinese generally (and so maybe my 3* rating is on the harsh side), but everything I've had here has been reasonably good, if a bit salty. When entering the place it was bigger than it looked from the outside. The place was fairly nice, with chinese decorations to make it feel authentic although when it was also fairly dark at times ecspecially when going up the stairs it did feel quite gloomy. When ordering the food the staff were friendly although when we asked what a certain food was they were not so brilliant at explaining. The food arrived after a decent amount of time and my Black bean duck was quite good but my friends sweet and sour chicken was not, but i guess you win some and you lose some. At the end the price was reasonable. Overall the place is fairly good however it could do with a bit of jazzing up, ecspecially with so many chinese places popping up, it really could do with something to make it stand out. read more

I've never been bowled over by Mr Chan's, but then again, I have never had a terrible meal there either. It is a fairly big restaurant and can cater for large groups. It is also situated in the town centre so is good if going for a few cheeky drinks afterwards. They have a large fish tank in teh restaurant, which I am not overly keen on - why do places do that??!!! There are nicer places to go in Loughborough too eat, although if you want a Chinese, then this is your only choice. read more

I have been to all the Chinese restaurants in Loughborough and I always come back to Mr Chan's. There is an extensive selection of Chinese dishes from various Chinese cuisine traditions as well as a selection of hearty Chinese 'home cooking' dishes which I did not come across at other Chinese restaurants. My favourite is their aromatic duck, it is cooked until tender and melt-in-the-mouth, flavoured with fragrant spices and has a wonderful crispy skin. I find the waiting staff are very welcoming, warm and attentive. Although the meal can end up a bit pricey with wine and tips, the food makes it worth it! Highly recommended! read more

I have just had a takeaway and it was by far the worst meal I have ever had. The crispy duck was not crispy but greasy, fatty with barely any edible meat. The prawn toast was clearly made hours before and when I bit into it the grease ran out. The house chow mien was tasteless with what looked like pork fat in it ( I couldn't even attempt to try it). The curry sauce had the appearance and consistency of nettle soup. I cannot believe this food was sold to me...totally inedible. It has made me feel physically unwell. On top of that it cost £38.00. Mr Chan's is probably Loughborough's oldest Chinese restaurant. It is OK, but nothing to write home about. It's pretty middle of the road as far as Chinese restaurants go. We made the mistake of going to the all you can eat buffet on a Sunday a few months ago. That was a mistake. Chav city! It's a bit unpleasant watching people using their fingers to pile the food onto their plates from the buffet table, whilst dipping spring rolls into the dip bowl and then biting a bit and dipping it back in again. An unpleasant experience. On other days I've had some reasonable meals here and the staff seem efficient if a little grumpy. read more
