It has been quite a while since I visited Mr. Burrito, and my meal was just as consistent, just as tasty and just as filling as the last time! When you come in, customer service sometimes takes a moment, but it's always friendly and welcoming. Prices for whatever you order here are just right. And homemade tortilla chips with homemade salsa or pico de gallo are included for folks who dine in. On my recent visit last week, I had a baby burrito and it was still big enough and solid enough to bludgeon a man in the head with. It arrived so quickly to my table that I barely had enough time to enjoy any chips and pico de gallo. There was plenty of high quality beef inside, and enough fresh vegetables and cheese in my burrito and it was packed with flavor also. I put some homemade spicy salsa on and I was in heaven. I've been coming here for years and love it. I'm a little surprised by some of the bad reviews in here since 2019. Anyway, they have a good range of food on their menu. Best bang for buck, definitely the big steak burrito. Hottest sauce, definitely the chile de arbol dark reddish, yummy. I'm American, but of 1st generation and family had a restaurant. The carne asada used is good quality skirt steak. I'm not sure if it's the same meat used in the steak burrito or if it is more of a different beef cut. At the end of the day, breakfast to lunch, good... reasonable price and good service. I have friends who love it and those that hate it. Not all Mexican is doused in spices and flavor, but give it a shot and keep an open mind. read more

These guys are awesome! I placed an order for a variety of tacos: both traditional (for me) and Gringo-style (for my mom). They came absolutely STUFFED with indredients for a completely reasonable price. I loved the steak, barbacoa, lengua, and chile relleno! I was almost sure I had confused them by requesting certain tacos with cheese, tomatoes, and lettuce, and others with cilantro and onion. Nope: they got my order correct! Yesterday 10/16/2023,I went to Mr. Burritos around 9 PM when I got there I gave them a $100 bill and they marked it with the money marker and it came back valid then they used the machine and it denied my hundred dollar bill three times. The cook behind the register came and took the $100 bill and told me that I was not gonna get the money because it was fake I then asked if I could see it to look up at it and the light to show them that the machine was wrong the money was real I saw the watermark. I then called the police because I felt like something fishy was going on. The police came in they started to do their detective work with a $100 bill. When you're hungry, you look for a place you like or you get adventurous and try something new. When you're hungry, you haven't eaten all day, avoided airport food at all costs and you've just gotten off a flight at 10pm at O'Hare and are driving west on Irving Park Rd. back to the burbs, you don't have a whole lot of options. A few taco joints, BK, etc. My dad, aka my taxi, spotted this place, and commented on how he heard that the owner may have come from his hometown ranch in the Mexican homeland. So we stopped in. I had my standard enchiladas platter and got em "a la plancha". had to get an horchata. Dad got a few tacos, one each of birria, carne asada and carnitas. Enchiladas were good. Average good. The red sauce on top was slightly bitter, the way a good red should be. Overall, it could have used a little more zing. The chicken was tender and plentiful. The accompanying rice was a little salty for my taste. Dad's easy to please. He was finished with his three tacos and rice before I was halfway done with my meal. He then indulged in some of the free chips from the warming drawer near the soda machine, and sampled two of the salsas in the small fridge there. All in all, you can't beat a good taco stand, especially one big enough to hold a few families. And who can argue the prices? Both of our meals came out to about $10 with an horchata and a bottle of Mexican Coke. Turns out my Dad did know the family too, so the guy closing the place down stuck around and chatted with us for awhile. And now I've got a go-to place when coming home late from O'Hare. This is my second time here. Not very impressed with my order which was a steak burrito dinner. The steak was very bland and texture was that of either low great meat and / or it being steamed. I requested no sour cream in it which they did any way. Way too much and additionally took flavors away. The rice and beans were alright but that's about it. Prices were in my opinion higher than average. On a more positive side I do like the complimentary chips which multiple salsas. It seems to be very clean and well furnished. I do like this place. It's counter service fast food. Good flavors, fast service and fair prices. The interior is a little dated and run down, but it's not dirty. I don't eat here as often as I'd like, mainly because I can't stand eating there because they have 3 televisions on 3 different stations all with sound on. I've never eaten inside so I can't comment on the atmosphere, only the drive through. The service has always been friendly and quick.
