My husband and I had a really wonderful experience working with Carolina and Roger of New Horizons…read morebetween January and April of 2017. We hired them to make significant changes and updates to our house, including: 1) removing a structural wall to make one large living/dining space; 2) converting two fireplaces into one large one; 3) converting an upstairs laundry room into a full-size windowed bathroom; 3) converting a formal dining room into a half bath and mudroom; and 4) relocating the laundry room to the basement. Each of these "tasks" required considerable expertise of all kinds - electrical, plumbing, construction, etc - which New Horizons effectively delivered. They employ competent and reliable workers, and from the outset, they were incredibly professional and clear in their communication with us about project costs and time frame to complete work. The quality of their work is excellent, and all of the work we asked them to do was completed in a timely fashion. I would definitely hire Roger and Carolina again, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to family and friends. We needed someone who was above all honest, trustworthy, and made things easy. We were very nervous because the work we were having done was much more than we had engaged someone to do before, and everyone has heard a horror story about a contractor / bad home project. Our project was a finished half of our basement, including a full bath, mini-split HVAC, new electrical panel and framing around mechanicals that meant creating a mini-boiler room. The work that Eric's team did came out beautifully, the electrical and plumbing team he used was top notch, and we have a space we are very happy with. It seemed almost miraculous to us that with Eric, there really *was* nothing to worry about. What he said would happen, happened. When we had a question, we called him -- and he always took our calls and responded, fast, not to mention he was always up for a good laugh. He made practical recommendations that met what we said we needed, his people showed up when he said, and the work got done while staying completely out of our hair. It is true what their site says, that NEC is a family-run, long time business in this area, and it shows. Eric is a great guy, fun person to talk to, and he takes true pride in his work, as does his family who work with him every day. If you have a job that really matters to you, then I recommend you get a true general contractor, and that is definitely Eric. Perhaps the highest recommendation of all is, we've hired NEC to do more work for us and, to be honest, would have a hard time using anybody else given how happy we are with them.
