My mother and I stopped in to buy gifts for people we'll be visiting next week. While my mother was…read morepaying for the $90 worth of things we'd picked out, I used the bathroom. With no provocation, the toilet overflowed. Since there wasn't a plunger, I had to ask the cashier for help. She was apologetic, and immediately called the owner to come help. The owner came out, looked at the water on the floor, and demanded to know who had used the (public) bathroom. When I replied, she handed me a roll of paper towels and barked "here, you can clean it up." I was so appalled that I was rendered speechless, and acquiesced without protest. I have never been treated this way; not by the New York summer people who pay me to clean for them, and certainly never by the owner of an establishment in which I am a guest in. It's August, and we're all tired of the tourists, but her behavior was utterly inexcusable, and she should be ashamed of herself, not to mention better equipped to deal with plumbing mishaps. Get a plunger, and a better attitude. I'm ashamed to think that someone like this is representing Mainers to the many visitors who come to Blue Hill in the summer.

Oh Blacksheep Trading Company...you wonderfully odd little store…read more While visiting Bar Harbor, Maine we had dinner at Stewman's Lobster Pound and loved their old nautical decor they had throughout the restaurant. We really liked the lobster pot buoys and asked the manager if we could buy a few. He was really nice about it, but said "we would have nothing left if we sold our old buoys to everyone that asked, let me tell you about this store on the way out of town." The Blacksheep Trading Company.... They have a bit of everything it seems....tin signs, posters, pelts, and of course wood lobster traps and buoys. It was so cool talking with one of the owners Betsy who gave us a lot of history on the lobster buoys. So many great stories. They are located about 15 minutes outside of Bar Harbor and well worth a visit to browse their great selection.
