Moxy Bremen, a boutique hotel brand from Marriott. This is my first stay at a "Moxy," and I would consider it a whole different vibe from your normal Marriott. From the check-in at the bar to the freestyle space in the lobby, there is a very relaxed feel. It's a laid back modern approach to the usual boring hotels that you would find any place. There's plenty of space in the lobby to hang out, play some games, or have a drink at the bar. The staff is pretty awesome and very accommodating to requests. Parking is either on the street (free) or in their lot (paid). I parked on the street when I could find a spot, I felt safe doing so. I did have to park in the paid lot a couple of
times, and it was easy in/out of the lot.
The hotel is in a business district which appears to be an up and coming neighborhood given all the construction nearby. It's within walking distance (mostly) to downtown and places to eat. There is an onsite gym if you want to get your fitness on. There's a hanging chair in the lobby that people seem to find fun to sit in and take pictures of. I mention that because every time I see someone enter the lobby, they tend to be drawn to it.
The room: pictures on their website are accurate. There's no closet, dresser, clock, or phone. I guess it's cool to hang your clothes on the wall rack these days. There is AC in the room, but for my American friends, it may not be the strength or temp you're used to. The bathroom is nice and has plenty of room. The bed is fairly comfortable and feels exactly how I expected, nothing like my own.
The food: breakfast is offered for a fee. It includes your standard pastries and other breads as well as meats, cheese, sausages, beans, cereals, and fruit. I also found hard-boiled eggs as well as "fake" scrambled eggs. Coffee, milk, and other juices are available. It was decent.
Bar food: You will find a menu of various bar foods you can order, hamburgers, fries, pizzas, flat breads, etc. This is why the Moxy Bremen did not get the full stars from me. The hamburger and fries are probably some of the worst I've ever eaten. Nachos, the same. These are microwaved type foods, not freshly made as as I would have thought and hoped. Unless you're out of options, I would pass on these.
I'm not entirely sure I would stay here again, but then again, I just might. read more
