I refused to go anywhere else, no matter what. It took a lot for me to transition to another salon; as I didn't have belief I would receive similar service for either a hair cut or highlight. I researched many salons & Salon Shay stood out among many. I took a chance and tried Salon Shay. My highlight was the best I've ever had...in my life!! As for my hair cut, Shay listened to exactly how I preferred my hair cut to be done. Typically, stylists listen to your wishes and get close, but they never get it exactly right. Shay got it exactly right. Finally, I was 8 months pregnant when I went to Salon Shay after the re-opening since the Covid-19 pandemic began. I was anxious to visit a salon & honestly felt guilty I would go do something like a 'hair appointment' for myself when there could be great risk to get infected with Covid-19. Salon Shay was pristine. She sanitized everything, swept, wore a mask, etc. I felt extremely comfortable and safe. I HIGHLY recommend going to Salon Shay....the only reason I wouldn't have written a review is to keep her a secret to myself!

The reason I love her extensions is because her work lasts a long time when properly taken care of. We ride motorcycles, and these extensions stay in place. I do use a goggle type sunglass when we ride, but still, we just made a 336-mile round trip, and they didn't budge. The other reason I love her extensions is I love waking up looking like I have my makeup on, saves me money on mascara and time. She also tints my eyebrows. I love it because she doesn't give me those big looking eyebrows, she just tints and shapes what I already have because they are turning grey on me! Her works keeps me looking a little younger and looks natural. She really listens to what you want and gets it right every time. She also does lash lift and tint, facials and makeup.

Misogynists and holier-than-thou buzzkills beware, this is essentially a makeup post where I gush…read moreeffusively about a makeup brand. I do not wear a lot of makeup, mostly because as I've gotten older I have just gotten lazy. However, we Asian girls NEED our eyeliner, and I don't care what anyone says, ain't a woman alive who doesn't look better with a smidge of makeup on. So women who brag that they don't wear makeup - 'BYE FELICIA. Time and time again, MAC products demonstrate why they are superior to just about any of their competitors. I've been using their products since I was a college student - I chose to spend my spare pennies on Plushglass, not beer;) and I just love them. Specifically, MAC makes quality lip products and eye shadows. They smell wonderful, don't damage my skin, they aren't unreasonably priced, their staying power is unbeatable, the packing is tasteful but distinct, and their blendable, subtly multi-tonal colors are gorgeous. Although they aren't cheap products, I don't feel ripped off and the products last me A LOOOOOONG TIME. I think it's because I don't have to use a lot to build intensity, plus I I never have to touch-up because their stuff stays put without breaking out my skin. I betray my frugal, discount-loving side with my fondness for MAC. There are no discount cards or rewards points program. The loyalty program is kind of nonexistent (return 6 empty containers = 1 free lipstick) but I don't cry about it. What I do get 90% of the time is an actual skilled MUA who knows what s/he is talking about. I have always liked the company's nonchalantly rebellious stances on raising AIDS awareness funding and LGBT rights. And the makeup just plain kicks arse. Uh, yeah, so if you shop at one of the two MAC counters at Kenwood, they're both pretty good, and they both seem to run out of the same products at the same time. Nordstrom is definitely a bit sexier (Macy's, get a facelift alreadyyyyyy, you still look so Miracle on 34th Street-old school). But at Macy's I was helped by this fabulous girl named Ginie, she was a living, breathing doll and the EPITOME of customer service. She was sweet, helpful, patient, made excellent suggestions (I bought all three of her suggestions). And when the counter didn't have an item I wanted she first called Nordstrom's MAC counter to see if they had it in stock (they didn't, *sigh*), then she had it shipped to my house free of charge. So yes, Kenwood. Macy's. MAC. Entire paycheck. Ginie. Huggable in Rich Marron. You're welcome.

Beautiful space, smells wonderful when you walk in the studio. I've wanted to get my brows in shape for quite some time & went with friends recommendation. Melissa is friendly, welcoming when you arrive and then the brow magic happens with Jenny, she gets to work, getting your brows in shape & note it can take time, but also while her work is in progress it can take months to get them in order & note not to touch your brows while you're waiting between appointments, which is so hard for me. After several visits, they look amazing, we're almost there with them being 100%, so happy to be in Jenny's hands. Note Jenny is very busy, so Melissa will work with you to schedule your appointments months out so your brows stay in shape.
