Ask the Community - Movement Church

When do they open pantry for free food?

If there is someone in need of food, they simply need to ask. Otherwise, there is a food distribution ministry that partners with food bank. I believe it's one Monday of each month food is provided for all those that come and qualify. Anyone can…

Are you a church that believes in the power of the Holy Spirit to move today in healing and deliverance from demonic activity?

They may believe in this, but it is not truly taught from the pulpit in an ABC, yellow brick road - type of way. This doesn't mean the power of the Holy Spirit isn't flowing through the community of believers that attend this fellowship.

Awaken Church in San Marcos has become my husband's and my home church and we live about an hour…read moreand 15 mins away. I once visited because of my friend invited me and I kept going back. The teaching is BOLD- Fresh Real Powerful. I can see how it would irritate a lot of lukewarm Christians because at first we were tweaked! However something (later on realized it was the Holy Spirit) told my husband and I to keep coming back. Our lives have transformed in such a good way!! This Church helped us grow as Christians, heal, and put God's word into practice daily. I've never consistently read the Bible on my own before Awaken- now it's my special time with the Father to get to know Him more. Yes this Church has strong stance on Biblical principles And we are called to fight evil, false prophets and also the antichrist. Which can offend a lot of people who believe / tolerate those things. We also believe in self responsibility, self leadership first - and then discipleship- be discipled and disciple others to bring them closer to Jesus. Some people get mad about Awaken teaching on being prosperous, and how to be prosperous- which is biblical and also what the Father wants for His children. I am so glad to have found a Church that is not shy on teaching biblical truth and standing up for what's Right. Many churches are silenced and walk on eggshells so they can keep the congregation attending. I've met the most authentic, amazing people at Awaken and so many of them with a servant leader's heart. They offer their own time and anointing to serve others well. Many leaders poured into us (and others)- which we are so grateful! When a Church isn't lukewarm- it gets haters. Come check it out yourself in person (attend a few times) and you'll feel the power of God here.

They have "special' seats for people who donate and I personally was told to leave my husband because he was :demon influenced as I was told by a minister . Girls are clicky and drink a lot. Pastors aren't knowelegable about the bible. I go to Daybreak Church now and luckily aren't as traumatized as people I know that went to Awaken and don't ever go to church again. There was non stop gossip at our small groups. I am saying this with love and respect and hoping J and L read this and repent and teach the real Bible. I was so traumatized by all of this. I was told to tithe to get my miracle healing from cancer and when it didn't happen I was told to speak in tongues daily???

What can I say about The Lake Church?…read more I have been coming here for several months and over that time, I have already seen the church grow. I think it's going to outgrow it's current location at the Lake Pavilion because people are starting to find out about it and they are joining and inviting their friends. (The office address is not where they meet). The pastor, Jim Brown, has a way of explaining the bible (it's a bible based Christian church) that makes you not only understand the bible better, but it also makes you want to be a better person. His wife acts as the church hostess and makes sure that all feel welcome and handles announcements, and logistic issues for the congregation. It's a community church, so there are many different denominations that attend, and probably some non-believers as well. When I started coming here I figured the average age was about 85. The average age is lowering now, (I'm seeing some people in their 30s) and as families start hearing about the pastor and the general welcoming feel of this church I think this will continue. Right now there is no youth program so if you have children you need to be aware of that, but I do think that this will change over time. There is one 10 year old who attends. They do create CDs after every program, so you can also listen to a sermon if you want to hear more before you attend. I give it five stars.

I really love the atmosphere at Grace Church. There is so much love and kindness from the moment…read moreyou walk in. I've been to the food bank multiple times, and the team is always so generous and helpful. They greet you with a smile and are always willing to ask, "How can I help you?" You can truly tell they care about the people they serve. I've also attended both services, and what I love most is how the team makes you feel like family. Everyone is welcoming, friendly, and makes you feel like you belong. I also appreciate that the pastors are available and take the time to say hello and connect with people. It's a beautiful community where you truly feel welcomed and cared for.

This church has a food bank to distribute to people every week. It is very nice of them, but they…read morehave a priority to certain people. Therefore, they give first choices by first distributing food to only Mexican people on the Saturday. Whatever is left, they will distribute on the next day (Sunday) to every one who wants. If you are not Mexican, and shown up on the Saturday, they will yelled out loud "NO FOOD", and ask you to leave even though you can see Mexican people taking/carrying food to their cars in the parking lot. I don't believe that the church has a GOOD practice of big discrimination in front of JESUS. If I could I would rate no STAR because there should be no discrimination in any churches. They are bad examples for people, and young kids who initially steps to the faith of believing in JESUS. The church has a food bank program to share with every one. Most of voluntary people working in the food bank are very nice. My Asian girl friend is one of church volunteer who is currently helping in food bank services, she WITNESSED, and ASKED me to share on review that there are 2 families which have 2 volunteers ( one is husband and wife , the other is mother and daughter). These 2 families took advantage by getting twice free foods they wanted to fully loading in 4 cars for themselves, no sharing to community. Below was my own experience when I was there on a day in April 2026 to participate it. I came in at 9:20 AM. I left my rolling cart in line and went back in my car to sleep because the food bank would not open until 12PM. There was no one behind me at the time I left my cart there. I was the 4th one in line. I came out my car around 11:25AM to get ready once the food bank opened. I saw a tall lady standing behind my rolling cart. Around past noon, when the food bank opened, there was a voluntary lady whose name "Eve" (pronounced as EEVEE) came out. The tall lady who stood next and behind my cart told EVE that I was not here earlier, but only my cart. Eve immediately told me to step out of the line without asking me to verify what lady just said. It was unfair that EVE treated me as I was invisible, and did not respect me who is 66 and older than her a lot. Therefore, EVE let the lady cut in, and came in first. I spoke up. I insisted telling Eve that I left my cart in line at 9:20 AM, and went back to sleep in my car. Eve smartly (in opposite way) told me that, " I was not here because she came here at 9:00AM." I said, "You were here at 9:00 AM but you had been inside the whole time so you did not see anything to believe whatever that tall lady said, and you did not let me have my voice. Again, I got here around 9:20AM how could you see me here at 9:00AM?" That was all, I did not say anything bad at all, but EVE told me AT ONCE that if I continued talking she would prohibit me to come inside the food bank today and FOREVER." She repeated again loudly that she wouldn't let me to come to the church forever if I did not stop talking to her. She made me so EMBARRASS with other people who were waiting in line at that time. She treated me as I was a committed crime person in the church that she caught. I wondered that what did I do wrong, but telling her the correct story. Furthermore, THE GRACE CHURCH IS THE JESUS' HOUSE for any one who believes in JESUS to come praying/socializing. It is NOT her own place/house, and she is not one of pastors either to disallow me coming to the church. On whose behalf, Eve had a right to tell me that she could disallow me to come to the church when I have believed in JESUS, and not done anything wrong. EVE even mentioned me that she is the church member. EVE made me waiting forever until 12:45 to let me come inside the food bank. From the 4th one in line, I was the 34th one to come inside. That was how discriminate EVE did to show her power as a church member there to me. Thanks for reading my post.

This church met in a gym for many years with hours of setting up and tearing down sunday after…read moresunday. They found a permanent building and moved in a year and a half ago. Like all calary chapels the Bible is taught chapter by chapter verse by verse and then they start all over again, this process can take many years. Its a great way to go through the Bible, there is so much to learn. They have weekly bible studys and prayer meetings for men and woman and monthly mens breakfast and BBQs. They go out as a whole church group and have lunch together once a month. The worship is fantastic. They are small in size so its easy to get to know everybody they are very friendly. Check them out.

Very interesting turn of events has happened. As you can see there has been a post on here posted…read more4years ago that has my current name but that was not me, it was my ex. I do have to agree that it is a church that almost seemingly results in a religious cult. You ask your self what is a religious cult? A religious cult can be described as religious or semi-religious sect whose members are controlled by a single individual or by an organization. This type of cult is usually manipulative demanding total commitment and loyalty from its followers. Another good example of a cult is they claim to be Christian, and even consider the bible to be authoritative. But they manipulate the scripture to fit their own beliefs. Although they claim to serve Jesus Christ. That brings me to the topic of why I am writing this on the help page. Most of you know me and I just want to say thank you for having me at your church, but their comes a time where people fall out and we move on. If you choose to continue going to this church congratulation I hope you find what you are looking for. This church yes did help me but the emails I got today were very disrespectful and controlling that is the reason this review is being posted. I notified this person not to harass me and she insisted that I remove a post that was not made by me. That is when I saw here true colors. Most people in a church help one another. But when things are slammed at you and trying to degrade you it really disturbing. I was given a list of all the things that supposedly this person did for me. I just have to say thank you, but if you did all those things and now I'm being bashed for it is not very Christian behavior. I didn't need rides to church there was time where I walked. If you didn't want to do any of these things for me you should have said so. Then you claim that people at the church believe I'm a jerk because I received help. Well I'm sorry... I have grown up allot and can see society more clear and who your true people are. You loose contact with people who you thought were your friends but in reality were not which is ok. So now I have been told that they are going to contact help support and report me for an account that I don't even use or even have access too. Trying to get me for slandering the church, defamation of character and liable against a business public service institution because they helped me get to church on Sundays. To the people that picked me up to go church on Sunday I'm sorry that it was a burden. When I was told that you didn't mind. I'm sorry you had to spend money on gas and mileage on your car. Then I guess there are still people at the church that still speak negative of me from a post from 4years ago. If you are a new brother or sister of Christ going to Calvary chapel or any church congratulation. But I guess most new brothers and sisters attending are being told that the post was made by a SICK YOUNG MAN who they helped for years and made a review on yelp with no reason, no proof, just a hate message for the world to see. Then I was told from a member of the church that I will be rewarded they same way from other people. And I guess I reap what I sow. God knows all. This is a long post but those of you that are reading this I just want you to 4years later I'm being harrased for something that was out of my control. But for someone to try and make someone feel bad or bring my son into the conversation I Will guard my son and nobody will talk about him in a negative way. He is loved by a family. He has a mother and father. So I Will agree with the post from 4years ago that this church may try and help you but in return they want something out of you. What I was advised on stated below. The federal government has begun taking more steps to protect consumer speech through two important pieces of legislation. THE RIGHT TO YELP BILL also known as the Consumer Review Fairness Act. And the SPEAK FREE ACT protects consumers from lawsuits intended to silence their freedom of speech. Both are important and will work together to protect your FIRST AMENDMENT right to express your opinions online. If you are still reading this review you can ask me certain question through my email. nicholasmedina2016@gmail.com because it seems like certain people at this church are trying to silence me and to delete a post that I have no control over and received threats from someone in the congregation and to delete a post because it make it look negative. Thank you for reading this post there is no hatred in the love of Jesus Christ we are told to love one another. I just hope that if you are trying to find a church on my own experience I would stay away from this church. So thank you have a good day and God Bless
