Amazing night light show during DECEMBER 2025 called Illumina! Worth every penny. Great security, crowd control. Staggered tickets, 5pm, 6pm, 830pm, so great flow. Easy parking. Overflow lot. Many benches to sit, relax. Great for dates, photos, and small kids. Big kids 4 to 10 yes old may be bored as there are no rides. This is a garden dressed up with lighted sculptures at night. Great visit to the botanical garden through our AHS Reciprocal membership. The grounds were well maintained and we enjoyed the kitchen garden and spice garden in addition to the water features. The garden is nearby palm beach airport so it is great if you are waiting for a pickup or have a few hours before your flight. There is airplane activity due to how close it is to a runway but the grounds are peaceful when there isn't a plane landing. We sat for a bit and enjoyed the gazebo and the lake. read more

I wandered through this garden today and found that Mounts Botanical Garden is not just a beautiful scenic garden, it is an educational experience. Mounts Garden offers 25 theme gardens like the herb garden, rose garden, butterfly garden, succulent garden and the tranquility garden. Each garden is a different experience and all well maintained by the staff. There are many paved pathways for easy strolling. Numerous benches under the trees for resting and admiring the beautiful scenic views of the gardens. There is also an all greenery maze that spikes your curiosity and great for children to play hide-and-seek. There is couple of bridges where you can look down and watch the Koi fish swimming in the pond. Great place to learn about all kinds of species of tropical plants and culinary herb plants. There are guided tours available or you can take a stroll on your own. Enjoy seasonal exhibitions and the many sculptures through out for amazing photo op. Perfect for students, families and anyone who enjoys nature and learning about plants. Be sure to check out the Garden memberships they have different levels like the Avid Gardner one adult for $60. All memberships gets you free admission maybe early access to events and special exhibits through out the year depending on the membership level. I went with my son to their Illumina light show. It was really quit beautiful. The light features were made with a framework covered in a colorful nylon fabric with lights inside. Many floral and big beautiful butterflies, other bugs, snowmen, lots of things. The dragon was amazing! Some had moving parts and others had sound. I'm so glad we went. Our daughter and son-in-law moved from Jacksonville to West Palm Beach for a new job a few months ago. While we were down here visiting our daughter suggested we go to Mounts Botanical Gardens. Wow this is a nice garden! We loved it as well as our grandkids. A lot of times when my wife and travel with our Rv we always try and fine a botanical garden in the area. This garden has a lot of shade which is nice when it's blazing hot. The garden has a lot of different varieties of flowers and tropical plants. We stayed here for about 2.5 hours. We could have stayed a lot longer but the grandkids were getting hungry for lunch. The garden closes at 4pm. I think if you arrive around 11am or 12pm and take your time walking around looking at the plants and fish in the ponds you can be done around 3 to 4pm. Definitely recommend the Mounts Botanical Garden! read more

We've been here several times over the years, but I think my very old reviews have dropped off the Yelp site. I love botanical gardens and try to visit one wherever we travel. This one is over 40 years old and has grown. In the past we came here to explore and one time to sample various exotic fruits and vegetables that can be grown in Florida. This time we visited during the plant palooza. In addition to vendors selling various plants, there were also other things for sale -- like honey and jewelry, etc. Plus you could enjoy the regular gardens and take in the special exhibit of metal sculpted frog sculptures displayed throughout. It was hot even early in the day so we were glad we'd dressed appropriately. The gardens are about 20 acres and we walked quite a bit of it. I love seeing the vegetable and herb gardens alongside the wetlands area as well as all the trees and bushes. Some are tropical and some sub tropical and everything is marked. It was quite busy when we went. We never did make it to their gift shop, I'm sorry to say. Nor to any of the food vendors set up. And we could only walk so much without an occasional bench rest. We did get to see the bubble machine which some kids were enjoying running through. We talked to a lot of the plant vendors -- about their various offerings and got some good advice. And we wound up buying some herb plants and one key lime tree. If you haven't been, I might suggest you putting it on your "to see" list. It's educational as well as enjoyable. And convenient to access right off Military Trail. read more

My sister from out of town came here with me for the Ilumina event. We were more than impressed with the size of the lanterns and the amount there were. We loved all of them but the smoke breathing moving dragon suspended above water was the most impressive. I've actually been here during the day before and it's really nice. You can pay for fish/turtle food and feed the Koi. It's quite relaxing with the exception of the airplanes flying overhead every 20 minutes (it is next to PBI airport). It's a small garden so the grounds aren't huge and we walked through it all in an hour. But I'd highly recommend going to Ilumina before it closes. You can get a lot of amazing pictures. Parking was free and was easy since they have staff directing you. You can reserve online but we bought tickets ($26 per person) when we got there (it was the same price). The online tickets have an arrival time but if you're early they are flexible. It's sorta a hidden gem so it wasn't overcrowded on a Saturday evening. Regular bathrooms and a gift shop are also available. I'd love to come back and support this business. read more

According to their website its lush beautiful gardens. Everything was dying or dead. I couldn't even get a good picture. The best part was when I grabbed a picture of a plane flying low between trees and clouds. So disappointed. I live off SS so have to be careful with my money. That was $ 18 dollars wasted. They told me it was because of the cold front that moved in a couple of weeks ago. Well then disclose that on your website, maybe something like we apologize for any inconvenience, some of our flowers and plant didn't do so well with the cold front. Let the public decide of they want to waste their time and money on dead plants, flowers and trees. Don't just assume they do and you're okay with taking their money. read more

The Rundown: A noisy garden that is surprisingly extensive variety of plants in an easy to navigate plan. The Review: I don't know what it is with FSU extensions, but this is the second one I've been to and both are immediately next to active airports. It is not their fault, so I won't rate on the constant airplane traffic but it is important to note that if you are seeking a place to get away and be one with nature you'll have to be okay with some very noisy airplanes constantly flying overhead. With that out of the way, the gardens themselves were very nice! I felt the layout was rather simple but very effective, providing a large variety of plants across different environments in a relatively smaller footprint. Even in the "winter" we were able to encounter active butterflies and hummingbirds showcasing the nature these gardens cater to! They have changing exhibits, currently it was the frogs which were cute and I can see kids enjoying keeping an eye out for them. The app itself was... Okay. Unfortunately signage everywhere needs work. The large directional signs, almost every one was rubbed off or severely faded (fortunately it's not difficult to navigate without signs). I did appreciate that even though it is paved with clear paths there were opportunities to feel like you're encountering a "secret" when going off bath. Things like stone staircase bringing you to a secluded table, or a wide grassy path where pleasant smelling tree flowers reached down to invite you. As for plant identifiers, for how nice the overall upkeep was I was surprised how poor the plant info was maintained. One sign was stuck within a plant that it was not even referring too. Definitely signage is my main critique and needs attention. Overall, for its location and size I was quite satisfied. The "water" walkways were my favorite! The staff we encountered were friendly and easy to talk to. It's certainly worth a visit if you're looking to support local gardening efforts. read more

We visited Mounts Botanical Garden for the first time. We went to see the gardens as well as the Origami exhibit. We entered through the gift shop and bought our tickets, card only no cash. Entry is $30 or $18 for seniors. There are many paved and gravel walking paths. The was a QR code to scan for a map but after scanning we had to download an app which I did not do. There are different areas representing different ecosystems. The plants and trees are very well marked with their name and a brief description. There were markers throughout the gardens for a kids scavenger hunt Mounts is very close to Palm Beach airport and planes flew overhead head constantly. We spent just over one hour in the gardens. They have a very well stocked gift shop with garden items and tee shirts. read more

This place is as good as it gets. Great walkable garden. Watch out for the herb and flower garden sales area in back corner. It is important to consider family membership. Really well worth it. Not only for repeat visits to Mounts but it gets reciprocal discounts all over the place I saved $100 in both the Atlanta Botanical Gardens and Fairchild gardens in Miami. Mounts itself keeps evolving year on year and season on season. Every visit you see something new. read more

This is a beautiful botanical garden. Parking is free. You pay the entrance fee inside. You can also buy pellets to feed the fish. They have a really cool/nice gazebo in the garden that's a highlight there. It was nice to walk by the ponds and feed the fish. There are benches in the trail where you can sit and admire the garden if you like. They have different plants, trees and flowers throughout. The staff was really friendly. read more

What a beautiful serene place to visit. Definitely buy the fish food in the beginning to feed the massive koi fish. If you're into Morikami, you will love this garden. So much to look at and many photo opps. Beware of the influencers in the wild but you can spend hours and hours here and have a lovely peaceful afternoon. This is a really lovely place to go to. Especially when the weather is cooler. In the summer it is quite unbearable. But nonetheless it's definitely a must see. The lady there told me that they are open even if it is raining. So there are no refunds. There is quite a bit of grounds to cover so it's best to wear comfortable walking shoes. Maybe it was the time of year. Maybe it was the fact that you could hear the planes taking off and landing and smell the jet fuel from the nearby Palm Beach Airport. Or maybe it was because we have visited so many lush gardens over the past few years, but we were underwhelmed. Mounts Botanical Gardens boasts 25 unique gardens spread over 14 acres. Our favorites were the new Moana exhibit with its oversized sculptures, the floating blue window in the Mediterranean garden and the Garden of Tranquility. Many of the other gardens seemed to run together and only a few flowers were blooming. The map was very helpful to try to figure out where you were especially as the main entrance is closed. Parking and entry are at the gate behind the Florida DMV. Admission is $12 with student, senior and military discounts. We used our Mercer Botanical Garden membership benefits for reciprocal admission. There is a light show for the holidays that seemed like a fun evening to see the holiday lights at night. I enjoyed this garden on my trip to West Palm Beach this spring. The grounds are pretty large and it took a good 2-3 hours to walk through and enjoy. At the time that I went, the garden also had a special installation of Lego statues, which was great fun. The installation was amazing with many fun statues to discover through the grounds. The gardens themselves are very beautiful with many plant species to photograph and enjoy. There is also an herb garden and pond with fish and turtles for guests to feed. We purchased fish food at the entrance and were able to enjoy this activity as well. I recommend a visit to the gardens. read more

Mounts Botanical Garden was named in honor of Marvin U. "Red" Mounts, who served Palm Beach County Extension and Palm Beach County farmers for over 40 years. He established the Garden's collection of fruit trees to help produce vitamin rich foods for local families. In 1954 the Mounts building was constructed and the garden was planted. By 1964 there were 69 fruit producing trees growing on site. Today Mounts continues with its mission to "inspire and educate through nature." Featured gardens include the Rose Garden, Garden of Tranquility, Tropical Foliage Border, Herb Garden of Well Being, Dry Steam Bed, The Pines, Signature Ridge, O'Keefe Rain Garden, Florida Native Garden, Butterfly Garden, Trail Garden, Bulb Garden, Gazebo garden, Great Lawn, Children's Maze, Edible Garden, Mediterranean Garden, Tropical Cottage Garden, Windows on the Floating World, Zimmerman Shade and Color Island, Tropical Garden, Light Tropical Shade garden, Begonia Garden, Sun Shade of Extremes, and Tropical Forest. The garden has many statues, bridges, benches, and water features among the plants. Mounts operates a small thrift store near the Edible Garden. I have been to Mounts Botanical Garden many times throughout the years for special exhibits. This time it was for Stickwork by environmental artist Patrick Dougherty. Stickwork is a massive all natural structure created on The Great Lawn using 30,000 pounds of live willow branches that volunteers took three weeks by hand to assemble. Over the last 30 years Dougherty has created more than 250 of these structures all over the world. Mr. Dougherty last exhibited at Mounts in 2019. I love how interactive piece the piece is. You can walk through it and children will think it is playhouse. It was so much fun to photograph. Stickworks is included in regular garden admission. In addition to stickworks, the garden is exhibiting Tropical Holiday Trees by Mounts. Three, 8-15 foot trees designed by the Mounts Horticulture Team were created out of bromeliads, orchids, and other tropical plants. My favorite was the orchid tree located near the old Mounts entrance. I enjoyed going on a scavenger hunt around the garden to find them. The trees are on display until December 31st and also included with the regular admission price. It is always a great day to visit beautiful mounts but it is extra special when they have limited time exhibits. read more

I came for the special Lego exhibits throughout the gardens. It didn't disappoint. It was really cool to see the different sculptures and be able to learn about how each piece was made. We went first thing in the morning when the gardens opened. That was a good move. It wasn't too crowded or too hot. There's no food on property, but it would be cool to bring a meal with and enjoy a nice picnic at the picnic tables. read more

Been up in PBC but first time yo Mounts. Went on 2nd Sat when it's free admission. The morning was drizzly and cloudy. We made it through most of it with rain jackets and umbrellas. We saw 3 main attractions: Zen Garden, Island Statues, and Koi fish. Mini version of Easter Island Sculptures made perfect photo opps. You can get fish food at the front to feed the Koi. Unexpectedly, Catfish surfaced often to eat their food. There were also Turtles waiting for their share. It was a good 2 hr stroll. read more

Lovely! Mounts Botanical Garden is Palm Beach County's oldest and largest botanical garden. It's 14 acres and it is home to more than 2,000 species of plants. I recommend getting there early. The admission price is $10 - very reasonable. It will take about 1 to 2 hours to walk the entire garden. It is a nice peaceful stroll. The grounds are well manicured and they have so many stunning flowers. I just love flowers! There are 25 unique themed gardens such as the edible garden, the butterfly garden, the Mediterranean garden, the tropical forest, etc. My favorite was the tranquility garden, which is a very serene Asian inspired garden. My favorite moment was taking a few minutes to enjoy Lake Orth, look at the koi fish, and admire the lily pads. 5 stars. It's not the largest botanical garden in FL, but it definitely has so much to see. read more

I came here with my husband and my stepdaughter and the woman was very nice and explained to me about how they have a reciprocal program which is good for harness all across the country, she told us we could walk around and if we decide to do it at the end she'll apply the $30 towards the $75 yearly pass. So we paid for the three of us to get in $10 each. The garden was nice and big and a whole variety of different types of plants, trees, they even had an herb garden and edible trees that had star fruit hanging from them at the time we were there. They also have a maze made out of hedges as well as artwork that looks to be made out of twigs? Since we were paying $30 it made sense to go ahead and just pay the extra $45 to be able to go to gardens throughout the country. Some of them have to be in excess of 90 miles. So I'm not sure that will be able to visit many others but it was definitely a nice place just to walk around. read more

We got to the Mount first thing in the morning, before it became crowded. We paid $10 admission each, were given a map and headed to the nursery in a back corner. I was able to find many exotic herbs, dozens of tables were well marked with ground cover, ornamentals, butterfly shrubs, succulents, garden books .... For a few days holiday gifts & ornaments were 50% off and nursery stock was reduced. We put our purchases in the car and wandered through the gardens. Each time I go to the Mount I discover new flowers or butterflies hidden, it never gets boring. We wore comfortable shoes and explored the 14 acre, 25 garden with more than two thousand tropical and subtropical plants and trees from Florida natives to exotic herbs, palms, cactus, bromeliads & tropical fruit trees. Cutting Corners Stickworks is a massive sculpture built by Patrick Dougherty from 30,000 cedar sticks. In December it was decorated with poinsettias and garland. Where there isn't a pandemic there are informative classes, lectures and gardening workshops. There are programs for children and adults, There is a large auditorium where classes meet as well as gardening clubs. This is the perfect setting for a wedding or photo shoot. The Garden is part of the University of Florida & the Palm Beach County Coop Extension. There is the Hutcheson Complex with offices, classes, and exhibit halls. I have telephoned and emailed a master gardener with questions about plants and gardening in Florida. The grounds are pristine, there is plenty of free parking, paths well marked for easy walking, clean rest rooms at both corners of the property. We spent about 2 1/2 hours wandering around here, perhaps if there were a food truck or cafe we would have stayed longer. read more
