Cool As A Moose was recommended by our server at the Dubh Linn Pub :) The selection was fairly comprehensive, and included such items as wooden postcards and bookmarks, as well as sweaters, blankets, pins, bumper stickers, socks- you name it! For a souvenir shop as well, they also include not only a "clearance" section at great prices but I was able to snag two crewnecks for 30$ each..! Super pleased :) The interior was a bit cramped in some places and some sizes were not available in things I would have liked but I did find some things, and the staff was pleasant enough. Better than most places and a definite recommendation from me :)

I was on a hunt for a Canada shirt... and at this place, they have a bunch of designs already premade on shirts or hoodies... or you can design it on your own with the selection of designs and shirt/hoodies they have in stock.They have lots of souvenirs, gifts and clothes for everyone. The guy who helped me designs all the logos. He was really nice and helpful and speaks french. In a matter of minutes... he pressed my hoodie, I put it on, aprroved it and I was sold. I love my hoodie! Costed me $34. Make an effort to stop by here to pick up your souvenirs, this place rocks! Merci 49th for my awesome hoodie!

When I went I saw a couple pretty new pair of hiking boots, however I didn't purchase them since I didn't need them haha. However, my friends and I all bought some really nice pieces of clothes for super low prices so I would highly recommend! There is also another reuse it center on Nesters Road which is a bit more popular but has more clothing options whereas this place has more furniture, gear and other supplies.

I am using the term "art" to include prints and posters, but I got a very nice older WB framed poster here. I have seen occasional originals, but it is mostly prints. Some are quite large and could easily hang over a full sized couch. I have bought also other things here. I found a set of stone bookends (Bookends are hard to find in thrift shops. I know because I have been looking for some for several months). They not really something I would pick out of a room full of bookends, but for 4 dollars each, they work for me and they were a good deal. ( I just have to mention that bookends should really be priced as a set. They are worth more that way. A single bookend becomes an oddly flat backed statue.) My other purchases include: some vases, about a half dozen of the Whistler Blackcomb lanyards (which WB used to give out free to ski pass holders, but not anymore), shot glasses, and an extra goggles bag (invaluable when you can't find yours and have to get to the slopes). I have never seen any casual clothing I needed to buy here. A friend of mine did get an almost new pair of hiking boots in early winter and they were pretty nice. While at some times of the year they may have a lot of merchandise, this past season, due to lack of snow, (meaning less work for some people and more time to shop somewhere budget friendly), it seems they were sort low on merchandise. I have never bought any sports major equipment here. They have a lot of skis outside on the fence though. I have seen a couple decent trail bikes and, wow, did they go quickly. They were too big for me though. It can be amusing to watch people in the store. I saw a guy trying on a practically new pair of Salomon running shoes that were not his size. They were way too small and he was trying frantically to get them on his feet, although eventually, he gave up and announced they were "too small" (a real newsflash). That was worth a trip. I think it's a decent shop, especially for the size of the town, but I don't think it's necessarily worth a stop if you are visiting for a short time, unless you have a new home and need art for the walls, or you need some cheap gear, asap. Then it's worth a look, and you may find something else while you are there. Like all thrift stores, the merchandise is going to be inconsistent. The proceeds benefit a lot of local charities, so the shop is a is great for the community. Someone told me that on the way out of town they used to pick up ski wear to resell in Van City. Now I only donate my ski stuff at the beginning of the season, because I hope someone who is not reselling it, and might actually need it, gets it.

She then came over and covered up the thing I was about to take a picture of with her hands. Apparently, she minded me taking a picture in her store. Having a policy against photos is short-sighted, but certainly her right. I was bothered by the rudeness more than the policy. I'll take my business elsewhere, and encourage you to do the same.

I love Roots!!!…read more Roots is a super cute and trendy store. They have men's, women's, and children's apparel. They are definitely known for their hoodies because they have one for just about everyone. When I went in they had an up to 50% off sale and I was able to purchase a couple hoodies for really cheap. I really like their children's apparel. They have some really cute shirts that have Canada on it. Many of their items has the Canadian maple leaf or Canada written somewhere on it. It makes for a great gift to give to someone that doesn't live in Canada or even for yourself. Roots has a signature character or animal that they have on all of their apparel...the beaver. It is really cute and is iconic for roots. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the clothing that you get. It is very soft and thick. This is definitely one of my favorite stores in Canada and I will be back again when I visit.
