Strolz is to this day the leading brand in German-speaking countries for hand-made ski boots. Strolz is also the place to come year-round for street wear, traditional Tracht, skiing and outdoor gear. In addition, there is an extensive children's department and locally-made housewares selection. The main store is in downtown Lech. In winter, the Strolz family runs a ski rental shop across the street. There is also a smaller branch in Zürs. Strolz is pricy, even for Lech-Zürs, but if you're looking for selection, impeccable service and quality merchandize this is the place.

Usually you get the shoes back within a few days, but once I only had a day and he went out of his way to make sure they were done in time for me. We have also gotten other leather items (handbags and lederhosen) repaired by him. If you're in need of shoe repairs - go to Guem!

The lady proprietor, Frau Franziska Wittmann, speaks excellent English (for my benefit), so it makes it easier to ask her questions about the items you're interested in. She is very friendly, kind, nice, accommodating and helpful. She will take time for you to find something you're really interested in. She helped me decide on exactly what I wanted to purchase for my souvenir from our Bavarian trip (photo). What a great customer service!! Since it's a souvenir shop, there are myriad of items in this shop from cuckoo clocks, local woodcarving items, Christmas decorations, nutcrackers, local apparel, kitchen utensils and paraphernalia, keychains, magnets, etc. to meet everyone's appetite for shopping. Preferred method of payment is cash as is often the case with local merchants, but you could pay with your credit card if you don't carry enough cash. Happy shopping!

I had called my credit card company prior to going to Europe to let them know so my card could be used with no trouble......well, someone at the credit card company failed me! My card was rejected! I felt terrible as I was holding up the line, but the women did not make me feel rushed. The worked with me until a solution was reached and I was able to make my purchase! I would recommend stopping by this shop if you are ever in Oberammergau!! Kathleen Purcell

They have several locations in Southern Bavaria (here, Fussen, Mittenwald and Bad Worishofen) and are kind of a department store for traditional clothing. Everything is here - kids, women and men's sections and a huge selection of styles, sizes and price points. For men they have a "complete suit" special which includes lederhosen, shoes, socks and a shirt for €199. Women's clothing ranges from high end handmade to much more reasonable (but still good quality). You won't find cheap costume skank-dirndls in leopard print for €30 here - but you will find something to make you look gorgeous for the next Oktoberfest! We scored a great embroidered shirt for the Mister (on sale!) and a pretty necklace for me. Great store!

Their selection is not huge but they do have lots of different prices ranges from cheap to expensive. They have two levels of stuff and whilst the shop looks tiny from the outside, there is a fair bit of stuff inside. The selection of lederhosen and dirndl was good and the prices were also reasonable. It's a little bit away from the center of town and whilst there are other shops in the town center, the location meant better prices. We ended up buying some things and ended up getting a further reduction due to long weekend sale. Not a bad place to get traditional wear in Garmisch.
