I'm writing this because I'm…read moreso appalled at the treatment I received from Dr. Nancy Norton at the Foot Center of Bel Air. I called the Foot Center of Bel Air because I stepped on something and thought a piece of glass was stuck in my foot and was in pain. I was a previous patient of Dr. Nancy Norton. Our new insurance cards were mailed sometime in January, and because my wife is living in our Florida home in Sarasota, the cards were sent to her. I did not have the physical card with me in at our home in Bel Air. I thought that Dr. Norton would surely see me, a previous patient in pain, without the physical card. I had all of the info on the card, including my I.D. number. But, no, Dr. Norton would not see me without my card. I was shocked to say the least! Having been in private practice myself as a pediatric dentist for over thirty years, I would never turn away a patient in pain, regardless of insurance coverage. After driving all the way to Bel Air, MD the doors are locked and when I call I'm told the appointment is at the Towson location. The representative never told me the appointment was in Towson, nor did either of the confirmation e-mails that were sent. Needless to say I am highly irritated and won't be scheduling an appointment here again after dealing with administrative hiccups from the start.

He said I needed orthotics, they would check my insurance. Put some sticky tape on my foot and sent me home. I have plantar fasciitis. When I was away, I heard a pop and went to a foot doctor where I was staying. X-rayed right there, said I tore my fascia which will heal on its own, said to get inserts from the drug store. It has healed, when I got home besides charging my insurance company over $300.00, he charged me $60 for putting tape on my foot. I saw Dr. Norton years ago, but she is not there now.

He took x-rays, saw spurs near the toe and prescribed I wear shoes with huge support and orthotics. Several months and a thousand dollars later my foot was no better. I went to see a second podiatrist for a second opinion. He took x-rays but didn't need to look at them when I described the problem and how it happened. He told me it was called a vamp syndrome, a compression at the top of my foot caused by the upper part of the shoe called the vamp. The treatment was to do nothing. Stop wearing as much as possible shoes at all (flipflops were recommended) and to be prepared that healing will take months. So far, several months later, the foot is not completely healed but is much, much better. I can walked without pain and without hobbling. Dr. Cohen's misdiagnose really had cost me and I shudder to think what would have happened if I didn't receive a second opinion. The new doctor indicated he wouldn't have prescribed orthodics. Didn't feel that I needed them. It just seems to me that his diagnose was so quick and assured and that this is apparently not a rare occurrence and that Dr. Cohen should have known what my problem was because I was very adamant and descriptive about how the injury had occurred.
