I'm not a typical reviewer - especially with a low rating. I read all the reviews and can see they have great ratings, however my experience was terrible. - the tech who did my MRI was callous - I tried telling her she'd have better luck with the IV in my right arm and she said 'your left arm is more convenient for me', eventually she had to move to my right arm after TWO failed attempts on my left arm. At one point I flinched because she stuck me on the left side and it was painful - she said: 'you're fine it's just a tendon, no big deal'. - Then she proceeded to blame ME for missing the vein on my left arm twice! She said, 'you can't move!', that's why I missed. Well, lady, I've had hundreds of IV's in my day and the experience with you was the absolute WORST. - she gave me earplugs. I asked if there were headphones (also not my first MRI, I've had many), and she said NO. I put the earplugs in. - she talked in a soft voice while working through the IV, and I had the earplugs in as that was the first thing she gave me... she talked so quiet I had a hard time hearing her because of the earplugs, so she proceeded to say 'are you DEAF? Hard of hearing? I never have to talk this loud with other patients.' No, I'm not hard of hearing in the least, but I lied and said, 'yes, I'm hard of hearing', because at that point I was absolutely embarrassed and the situation was just so uncomfortable for me. - the MRI machine was old and dingy, I've not been on one that seemed that old in a very long time. The ceiling in the room I was in had the ceiling tiles that were stained from water spots and the whole room just made me feel gross. - the room was an absolute ice box. I am always cold, but this was next level freezing, my hands and arms were frozen and so uncomfortable and stiff as they had to be above my head the entire time. Both of my shoulders still hurt today from being in this position for so long. This was the worst MRI experience I've ever had, and the bedside manner of the MRI lady was just awful. I could've dealt with the dingy old mri and the gross ceiling had it not been for the rudeness of the tech. What a disappointing, stressful appointment. read more

The staff itself and the scan I had done were fine an professional. The problem is BILLING - I went in for a scan - the receptionist stated that if they billed my insurance my share would be approx 470.00 but if I just paid them that day my cost would be 275.00 , I immediately paid the 275.00 , 3 weeks later I start getting notices I owe them another 195.00 , I called and talked with billing dept and the person stated they could see what had happened and would remove the balance. I thought well that was easy to fix, so now another 3 weeks have gone by and I get emails - texts and phone calls from them telling me I owe them 195.00. I have never felt so HARASSED by any company for there own mistake. I guess I will have my attorney friend reach out to them and see if he can get it fixed. what a bunch of BS from this company - I will never use this place again and will make it a goal to chase them on social media sites and let people know how unethical they are. read more

Having found myself in need of another MRI, I decided to have it done at Mountain Medical. My previous experience (that you can read about in my last review) was a good one. The environment of the imaging center and the staff are very pleasant and comfortable. I also like that they have an over sized MRI machine. It's still a little claustrophobic for me, but the bigger size makes it possible to get my MRI without any pharmaceutical easing. I would like to add something concerning my last visit, in that I was in a crazy situation involving all kinds of insurances (lawsuits, surgeries, and insurance, oh my), and even though everything was going to be paid in some form, there were some times that I had to call different medical providers and inform them of the situation so . Out of every single medical provider, only Mountain Medical refused to work with the situation. The person on the phone was unsympathetic and started talking about sending it to collections, despite the fact that I wasn't even late on a payment at that point. I have an immaculate credit score, so this added so much more stress to an already stressful situation. The second time I called, the person on the phone was very easy going and understood the situation, working with me easily. They got paid just fine, by the way. Overall, my experience at Mountain Medical has been very good--the best, in my opinion; and I've been to a few different imaging centers. For people who have the choice, I would suggest this imaging center. However, anyone who has a complicated situation with their insurance may want to be extra careful and aware that not everyone in the billing department will treat you with care and respect, even if the situation is out of your hands and you're managing it all the best you can. If you have any doubts about that part, I would suggest going elsewhere; or, at the very least, talking directly with someone in the billing department before your scan and keeping in contact with that person directly. I've had three different MRIs from this company over the last several years. My most recent experience was late evening September 24, 2020. I was the last patient present, I personally interacted with four different staff members, and I base this review only on my most recent visit. Despite the late hour, the staff was uniformly relaxed, professional, courteous and extraordinarily accommodating. I use the term "extraordinarily" in this case quite intentionally for two distinct reasons: First, they not only stayed after (long after) the posted closing hours to burn additional digital copies of the MRIs for my own review, but they then pretended NOT to see that I had stolen the overwhelming majority of the Earl Grey tea bags from their waiting room when a bunch fell out of my pocket when I reached for my keys while chatting as we said goodnight. The good and not so good.... First, the good stuff: (Their Staff) I was uninsured and on unpaid medical leave at work and needed affordable imaging for diagnosis purposes. Mountain Medical has an affordable cash price for imaging which happens to be less than what anyone with health insurance pays (in my experience) which allowed me to get properly diagnosed. The staff was friendly, attentive and accommodating. Now, the not so good stuff: (Their Billing) When arriving at the front you'll see a big sign in bold lettering stating that "Payment MUST be received before any services are rendered." So I payed the charge in full. Weeks go by and then I receive a bill for the $468 that I had already paid them. Not cool. So, I sent the billing department a copy of my receipt for payment so that they could easily see for themselves that this was paid for. They stated that they could not accept that receipt as proof of payment and they would have to conduct an internal investigation that could take months. What good is a receipt if it's not going to be considered proof of payment? Although I was not happy about it, I accepted the process. Then later I received a phone call from the management and was assured my billing issue would be resolved. Now it didn't magically make my problem go away but it was a nice gesture to hear from them. It showed they valued my concern and took it seriously enough to address it with me. So it's been a roller coaster of sorts. Bottom line: Although the staff are friendly and accommodating and they are a great option for affordable imaging, their billing game just isn't on that same level. That being said, and due to the affordability, I would probably still consider returning to Mountain Medical in the event I have imaging needs. read more

Update: My bill was reviewed and sent back to me still with the service that my doc did NOT order. The additional service almost doubles my cost, and again let me reiterate, my doc did NOT order the service and they did NOT perform the service. Gary, the owner, suggested I call Tangie. I called. Went in for an ultrasound of my ovary. I came in and had to urgently pee and was clearly in distress because of how urgent I had to go. They rushed me in with the ultrasound tech and I was squirming and almost in tears due to the pain of having to pee. Finally she asked if I'd rather do an vaginal ultrasound which I said yes and she let me pee. But then she had me insert the ultrasound wand myself. I have had 3 of these vaginal ultrasounds before and none have been this unpleasant and traumatic. I would highly not recommend. I was in pain and then felt so awkward and weird like my pain and discomfort was putting everyone else out. Horrible. read more

Very dishonest. We paid in full for service a year ago. Then was sent to collections for not paying. Showed proof of payment 4 months ago. Then today got a letter from an attorney for payment. I'm very frustrated with them. I would avoid them at all cost. Never again will our family go there. So I show up at 5:30pm for my scheduled MRI. The receptionist says, "we don't have the order from your doctor". Really? The appointment has been scheduled for a week, now it's 5:30pm and the physician office is closed. You'd think they could figure this out BEFORE I show up for a scheduled exam. Lucky for me, my doctor is also my next door neighbor so I was able to call him and get it straightened out. But otherwise I would have been completely out of luck, thanks to the incompetence of Mountain Medical. [Interestingly, they DID have the insurance authorization which was faxed at the same time as the order. So they must have misplaced it.] If you read their reviews it's pretty clear they're pretty disorganized, so this seems par for the course. Go somewhere else. I will! read more

I want to give zero to this center. It's not the service but the billing, its terrible, horrible and what not, no patient should deal with billing this bad. I was taking care of a pathology bill that was paid in full for 6 months, now they are sending me to collection for another bill that was paid back in January. I have to get all proof and send it to the collection agency, like I have the time for all these nonsense. They are cheaper than the hospitals but not worth dealing with their terrible billing agency. read more

This place is great! This was my first MRI and I'm super claustrophobic, I told the receptionist I didn't want any medication. She indicated they have a larger MRI machine and reassured me it would help. I was skeptical about that. Once I arrived everyone was so friendly. The tech who performed my MRI was amazing, I believe his name was James or Jameson (I was super nervous when he told me his name) He was well aware that it was my first MRI and I was having some anxiety about it. He kept reassuring it would be okay and that the music would help and he would talk to me a little more than usual to keep my mind at ease and it worked! I had 2 MRI's back to back and it was easy peasy! The results were done quickly. I just called today to get a copy of CD and additional reports and they had it ready within an hour. I will definitely come here for any future MRI's. read more

They were a third party on an ER visit I had over a year ago. I received a bill from them without them attempting to contact my insurance company. After several phone calls with their (oftentimes rude) billing representatives, I was told that it was going to be processed through my insurance (as it should have been from the beginning). Here we are, now a year since I was told that they would take care of it, the bill was sent to collections! I can't say much about their services, but avoid them at all costs! read more

Terrible to work with, be careful when they tell you how much they bill insurance. Called twice about pricing for an MRI, told us both times it would be only $798.00, turns out they billed our insurance for $1300.00 instead. If you want to get paid I would suggest that you put your address on your website. You only have an online option or financial help option.

Save yourself time and money and find somewhere else to go. Their imaging equipment is low quality so my doctor wasn't even able to use the images that they provided. They also tried to bill my insurance for multiple services that were not rendered hoping to cash in on a patient for more money. It has been a year since I went there and I am still fighting them on bills that they keep agreeing I don't owe and it was their mistake but they have now sent to collections even though they agree it is their mistake. It's weird to post a review about liking a medical treatment but if you have to get an MRI at least they have plastic headphones that pipe in music from Pandora and give you a warm heated toasty blankets and are very friendly their hours are great and they're even open on Saturdays and late during week days which is good for my schedule they're flexible and have been very good considering I had to go to three different places for MRI scans and these guys really stood out as being Above the Rest Head and Shoulders read more

I was referred by a hematologist for an mri for my liver to detect iron overload. The hematologist recommended that I have an mri done and he stated that it would be easier if I went somewhere were I have had a previous mri. Since I had an mri done in June of 2016 I was referred to Mountain Medical Imaging. When I went in for my mri appointment, I laid on the table for some time before the radiologist told me she did not know how to perform the mri my doctor had requested. Then the radiologist recommended that I go to across the street to IMC. But... my insurance did not cover services at IMC. So, staff called the University of Utah radiology department and it was nearly a month before they could get me in. I was told that St. Mark's was also contacted (this is where I eventually had the mri performed correctly). The radiologist stated that she could do a shortened mri that day but she was not sure if the hematologist would be able to accept the results. I also had to call work and try to find coverage while all of this was going on since the appointment went past the time I expected. I accepted the radiologist's offer to take part in the shortened mri. Later that day, the hematologist's office called back and said they could not accept the mri conducted. So.. I lost 5 hours of work time for this appointment and had to go in for another mri at St. Mark's the next day where I lost another 3 hours of work time. I don't understand how something like this could have happened! If the staff did not know how to conduct this mri or did not have the right equipment to conduct this mri than why was I not told before I was laying on the mri table for nearly a half hour while staff was trying to figure everything out? I have also had two previous mri's done in 2015 and 2016 and it was a nightmare. The results were never sent to my neurosurgeon in 2015 and I almost had to reschedule my surgery when I already had my time off work set. All because someone did not send crucial mri results that were needed for emergency surgery! In 2016, the same thing happened again! I was given a partial refund that time. And... well you just read about my third experience. I would NEVER recommend this place of business to anybody! Simple things aren't done or are overlooked and the patient suffers. Plus, planning and preparation seem to be extremely poor when an mri order is not reviewed until the patient is lying on the table and it's too late to notify the patient that Mountain Medical is unable to perform certain mri tests. This email and survey has brought back some traumatic memories and Mountain Medical should be embarrassed as to how they conduct business. I had to spend a lot of extra time clearing up Mountain Medical's mistakes and their so-called "office manager" is non-existent. I was told that the office manager would call me to speak about my experience but still to this day... no phone call! Such poor customer service and follow through! I am surprised that Mountain Medical is able to stay in business when they are clueless as to hot to follow through with their own polices and procedures. Then, they try to avoid or displace the blame when they make simple, huge, and blatant mistakes! Disgusting and insulting! They also had a hard time taking responsibility for forgetting to send my neurosurgeon my mri results for neck surgery in 2015. Nobody wanted to take the blame and I had to fight and argue with staff on the phone so that someone would help me and send my mri results over (which did not happen until the day before my surgery in 2015). They were so rude in 2015 when I did nothing wrong and was fearful that I would not get my surgery because of an oversight that nobody wanted to fix or take responsibility for! All the time I was injured and in pain! Having to make all those calls back and forth in my physical and mental state was awful! All three times there were serious problems in following simple policies and procedures. Patients and insurance agencies are charged thousands of dollars for poor service and incompetence! Now I'm motivated to put up some google reviews and whatever I can to warn others to steer clear of Mountain Medical Imaging! read more

I called and spoke to the receptionist she was very professional I asked to get a copy of my MRI report & images and if they were still available from October 2013 she put me on hold for a few minutes to see if that was something that could be done. I had an mri at Mt Med. and that was a good and I was in and out expecting that my Insurance would pay for it. It all went in a normal way a few weeks later i got a conformation that my insur had paid they said i owed $155 and change for my portion and i have no problem with paying my share. I expected a bill from Mt Med but never recieved one and that is the case sometimes they accept payment from the insur. next thing i know i get the bill but it's been sent to a collection agency. they say they sent 2 bills i say i never received a bill. I have worked my whole life to keep my Credit good and would not endanger that for 155 and change something doesn't smell right in their billing office. and i don't plan to use them if my well being isn't as important as theirs. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. I made an appointment for an MRI over a week ago. Come in for my appointment with the understanding that I would be given something to calm me down for my claustrophobia. As I entered the MRI screening room the tech on staff who was scheduled to load me into the tube said that she had no knowledge of my request. At this point she gave me an ultimatum and said that I either needed to get in the tube or reschedule... There was a huge miscommunication on their behalf, because the person that scheduled my appointment was supposed to let me know that I needed to come 30 minutes before. The other tech on staff told the lady that I could chew a valum in order for it to enter my bloodstream at a rapid pace... Her reaction was "we don't have time." I'm sorry that an error was made on their behalf and they didn't want to help the patient seeking help. It's really not my problem that they screwed up, plus it doesn't help that the staff is extremely demeaning and rude. If healthcare means that being rude is the answer, then they would get an A+. Huge disappointment when seeking relief. read more
