For many years I've had a persistent pain in my upper back that felt like a piece of glass embedded in my muscles. The pain and discomfort would sometimes subside for a week or two but after those brief periods of relative respite would inevitably come back with a vengeance and throb for weeks or months at a time. I'd tried all the usual layman's methods of treatment- ibuprofen, applications of heat and cold, brutal muscle rubs- but nothing ever worked.
I went to Mountain Laurel Massage at the urging of my wife, expecting a relaxing massage but certainly not a solution to this pain I'd been living with. Never having had a professional massage before, I thought Mr. Nichols, a big, strapping Army vet, would give me a rough and savage going-over, like I'd seen masseurs do in old timey movies. Instead, he gently used only a few fingers to immediately locate what I believe is called a myofascial trigger point, and then work his Jedi magic to do whatever he did to it. Sure, it felt great right after, but there was no way I thought it could last. It's now about 2 months after our appointment and I haven't had even the hint of any pain.
This man knows what he is doing and I recommend him with the most enthusiastic praise. read more
