I became aware of Mountain Arts Pottery when our kids went to college in Bozeman. I was so impressed with their pottery, I bought several coffee mugs and some cafe plates over time, and used them for a few years. We had a wildfire come through last summer and lost everything, I decided I would replace my dishes with the dinnerware from Mountain Arts. I purchased a set of the Charcoal Jet, and am very happy with the look and the quality! Their product is beautiful and I have had next to no trouble with chipping. I stopped in to check out the local pottery offerings, and found a darling plate I could not be without, as well as some beautiful tea towels & place mats (very unexpected finds!). The gallery has a cool vibe & a very friendly staff that was available at all times for questions & general assistance. Then I decided to treat myself to what turned out to be a very yummy lunch of grilled chicken salad on a bed of mixed greens and avocado (for a small add on fee) and let me tell you it was absolutely delish and the warm cornbread that came with it was equally yummy (butter & jam already at table). I guess their specialities are all the baked goods - pies, cookies, bars and such. But you can also pickup a frozen lasagna or chicken enchiladas, and pot pies. Or, as I did, have a freshly made to order sandwich or salad. I would definitely recommend a stop in here at any time of day. I had one of the best customer experiences of my life with Kathy from Mountain Arts Pottery. My dad had a mug from here that, after being loved for many years, broke. I reached out to Mountain Arts to see if I could buy a replacement, and Kathy got back to me right away, even looking through old inventory to find one that worked perfectly, and keeping in touch with me throughout the process. Totally delicious soups, breads, baked goods in a rustic setting amidst the beautiful pottery displays. Worth planning your day around a stop here! (Add: We did take home a pot pie and were disappointed as it had very little chicken in it and was pricey, surprisingly as we really liked eating in.) read more

Ok. So I might be a little obsessed with this place. The bakery case looks amazing, and the charming yard complete with umbrellas is a wonderful place to relax before heading into the canyon, but I keep coming back for the beautiful pottery. The prices are fair for a thoughtful selection of useful items. I've purchased the coffee container, the French butter dish, and an amazing (and enormous) serving bowl. Every time I stop in, I leave dreaming of what I'll buy next time I come to town. read more

We stopped at the Coffee Mug for breakfast in June and found ourselves in the mecca of locally made pottery right on the premise. The food was excellent, the personally conducted tour of the pottery factory was a real highlight for the visit. The artisans who make this pottery turn out wonderful works of art. It is irresistible and makes you want to buy a whole collection. My wife entered a drawing for a Free gift and lo and behold, she actually won it. They kindly shipped a beautiful an $85.00 Mocha Red River larger pitcher all the way back to North Carolina. We're so glad we stopped in this delightful place on the way to Big Sky. I ordered a Round Mug (Glaze: Indigo River) and it is absolutely stellar! I bought this as a gift and I cannot wait to give it to it's new owner! I don't normally write Yelp reviews, but I have to say my love for finely crafted mugs has driven me here.
