I am a current personal and business banking customer at MACU. I'm in the beginning stages of building my business, and it's critical that the bank I choose has basic online banking features and currently, MACU does not have the option to use ZELLE for their business accounts. Unexceptable in my opinion. I would even be willing to pay a small fee to have this function. Many of my customers prefer Zelle for payments, so if MACU doesn't figure out how to include this feature, I will go somewhere else. read more

I was directed to a customer service specialist because of a concern I had with a possible fraudulent charge to my account. I spoke with Brianna Boyle. She is amazing. She not only was thorough and assured me that my account was safe, she spoke with me about a variety of other services I might wish to take advantage of. She helped me make some account changes that will pay a greater return and offer some benefits I was not currently using. She was patient, kind and walked me through the entire online process. This bank..er..I mean credit union is now a little closer to my circle, and I find myself here a little more frequently. All I can say is that after being a more regular customer, I find myself standing by everything I said originally. They're always friendly at the drive-thru, and it seems to move quick pretty consistently. I don't ever find the lines to be too long, but then again, I'm never here when most 9-5'ers would be. Went in for a short visit today and have been here in the past for loan and other business transactions. There is plenty of parking- it is best to enter from the south. They have 3 drive thrus and an ATM. The grounds and the inside are well-kept and clean. It gets busy during the usual times, but staff have been friendly and knowledgeable for me each time. Let's see if I can write another review on Yelp in the time it takes for me to be served by this location. I have zero understanding of how I can go to a bank and accomplish two transactions in less than five minutes, yet I stand for ten minutes in a non moving line at this credit union. It's absolutely ridiculous how this branch is so dang slow. I'm now just filling in words as I sit here, waiting while the tellers seem to just be staring at the screens while their customers argue with them. Do you not have a place for quick transactions? I literally just need to deposit cash. That's if. Why is that so hard? Why don't you want my money?!! You're a credit union! You are supposed to want my money. But you clearly don't by just making me wait and wait and wait. According to Yelp, "this revIew is looking pretty epic". That's epic in length'. You know what else is epic? The Iliad! I could have read the entire Iliad, in the original Greek, in the time it has taken in line and that would include learning Ancient Greek. Know what else is epic? A geological epoch. Like a period of time where the Grand Canyon was created. Or the dinosaurs rose to dominance and were wiped out. It's now just not funny. We're going on 15 minutes. How can you possibly justify this? How is this good business? Don't you have managers to handle these types of things? But no one cares. Not a single employee seems to give one iota that the tellers have been stuck for 20 minutes. Darren Hill is the slowest and most unprofessional agent I have ever worked with asks for 48 hours to respond. still waiting for a response over two weeks later. Only contact was saying how straight forward this HELOC was and shouldnt take more then 2 weeks to close tops. 3 weeks later and no response or closing date even spoken about. I love the bank and this particular branch is great. The folks are helpful. Lines always long but haven't been to a bank that doesn't have that problem. Friendly staff, clean store, decent lighting at night with a good amount of cameras. I'm pretty sure some new ones popped out by the ATM as of recently. So it feels relatively secure. I went in with my husband to get his new cards, and ended up opening up new accounts for me. The personal banker, Sawyer, was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional! She got my accounts all set up, and in the process, saved me over 15% monthly interest on another account I have. I highly recommend changing over your accounts to this institution! Worst bank manager ever. I received a promotional flyer in my student email offering a no minimum balance checking account. I thought this would be a great way for me to put aside money every semester for my books (the only thing my scholarship does not cover). I would drain the account every semester and it would be great if I didn't have to maintain a balance. Plus I am more than happy to help out my schools partners. I go into this branch to open the account. They tell me that I cannot open an account because another bank is reporting me on one of their verification systems called Check Systems. I tell them that this in an error, I have an active account with the bank that is reporting me. I was told that if I get a letter from that bank stating this, I would be able to open the account. So I went over to the reporting bank the same morning and speak with the branch manager. I tell her about the situation. This branch manager calls Check Systems to verify that I am not being reported. Check Systems confirms that I have no reports and that the error that Mt. America is probably seeing is due to a glitch they had over the weekend due to a software update. The reporting bank branch manager gives me gives me a letter stating that my account is active and that they have no problems with my account. She also gives me her card and tells me to have the manager at Mt America call her if he has any questions. So now I return to Mt America and give all of this information to the same employee who helped me earlier that day. He gets the branch manager. This branch manager tells me that all of this information is not enough and that I need a letter stating the the report from Check Systems has been resolved. I tell him that I cannot resolve something that does not exist and ask him if he call either Check Systems or the reporting bank branch manager and confirm this. He tells me it is not his responsibility to call anyone and that I have to resolve this myself. I left the branch and will NEVER use their business. Any credit union that will simply refuse to follow up on their system verification process is not responsible enough to hold my money. If their attitude is that any error in their banking process is the account holders problem and they have no responsibility to look into it, I want nothing to do with them. Image if this happens when you make a deposit and they put the funds into the wrong account. Good luck getting your money back. read more

I have been with Mtn. America for over 10 years and I love it. We have had other accounts other places that have come and gone but have always kept our personal stuff here. The website is awesome. I'm on it a couple of times a week to transfer stuff around, check on balances, etc etc. They don't have all those extra little fees and they DO have all the great services you may need. Somehow they manage to maintain a small town/small company feel. Literally, when I think of them in my head compared to the big banks, it's like comparing a cottage and a skyscraper. Warm, comfy, happy vs cold, angry and unfeeling. The reason I reviewed this branch is because I do a lot of my business here and a few times, when I had my dog in the car with me they sent a yummy dog treat over with my receipt at the drive through. She always gets hopeful now whenever she sees that tube pop up. They haven't done it for a while and I hope they haven't discontinued doing it because I felt that was an awesome touch. I never do reviews but today is the 7th time I have called mountain America and not only have I had to call them seven times but I have been waiting on hold each time for almost 40 minutes, because on Black Friday my card was stolen and I ordered me a new on the same day which still has not arrived to me. I am living in Seattle to help my sister who has cancer and that was my way of paying my bills... This is the third card they have tried to send me and another 7-10 days waiting period for me... Thanks mountain America for helping me make my bills late! Love it! There was a lady named Dee who I absolutely loved and actually took the time to help me the one star is for her. I know this is my first review on Yelp, but I am just wanting to let everyone know to stay away from Mt. America if you are doing a mortgage loan. We have been with Mt. America for years now. We have had two auto loans. A personal loan for school as well has many other accounts with them. During our home loan we have had the worst service and have been completely flat our disrespected when going through the process. After being told we would not have to pay anything and it was a 100% mortgage and that we would be able to close three weeks early. It is now a day after our official closing date and we have to come up with close to $3,500. This was never mentioned during the entire 2 month process to us until this day. So make sure you have plenty of savings to pay for hidden fees and last minute changes to your agreement. On Friday when supposed to be closing our mortgage person told us we would be able to close at 5pm and he would send the documents over to be signed. Around 5:30pm and not receiving any documents we called the branch to find out our mortgage guy just left and didn't handle anything at all on our last day to close. After multiple calls and a few messages to the Mortgage person. Nothing was completed and none of the calls or messages were answered. Very unprofessional! Lastly after messing up everything, surprise fees, extra payments, no notice, no follow up and missing our closing date. I had to contact them this morning in order to have anything started. Now we are waiting until 4pm today to close and will not fund and record until tomorrow. This may not be the worst story out there, but after being handled this way I would never want anyone to have to go through what we went through to buy a house. Look elsewhere read more
