I don't understand why they come to the library (a place of peace and knowledge), to socialize- I suppose because it's free. Annoying teenyboppers aside, the library itself is decent sized. There is a section for children, holding a good variety of children's books and activities. There are magazines and newspapers available here, and you are able to borrow from a range of fiction, non fiction, CDs and audiobooks. This library has a silent study area (which isn't always silent), and a few silent study rooms (max 2 people). There are also computers and printers/photocopiers available at this library. Computers may need to be booked, they are usually taken up by kids playing online games. I like libraries; I like the idea of a quite study space and borrowing books. But this one? I'd rather stay at home.

I have been here many a time looking for resources for my uni assignments (studying online at a uni in another state makes it difficult to borrow from the uni library!). I have always found a good array of books on whatever subject I am after. are also plenty of tables and desks for reading and studying. The staff are helpful for anyone having trouble navigating the book search. The set up is great and easy to follow. I don't feel like I have stepped into a maze when tying to find the call number of a book. The library also has computers for internet use, photocopiers, scanners, and a great little children's section for keeping the little ones occupied.

I…read morecan't begin to calculate how many hours of my life have been spent here, reading and taking notes, wishing that whatever assignment I was doing would magically be over. It's a pretty standard library. The library is well stocked, and if they don't have what you're after, maybe they can request it from one of the other branches at Balwyn, Camberwell, Hawthorn or Kew. I've done that before, but I usually find it easier and faster just to drive to whatever branch has what I need. I guess the important thing is that it's nearly always had what I have needed, and it's a good quiet place to work if you find working at home distracting.

I know that sounds strange, after all I'm allowed to be there, but I feel like I'm encroaching on someone's turf getting settled at a library. These guys work there every day, they don't need to see my mug neck-deep in a book for several hours when I could just as easily grab and go. Happy staff, tick. Good range of books, tick. Catalogue that is well built and functional, tick. Done and done. Time to go to the library!

But you- Eastland library are absolutely phenomenal. being a year 12 student I spend most of my weeknights here, often alone of accompanied with a study pal, we can both genuinely say that we have never been to a better place to concentrate and really knuckle down. Being self diagnosed with ADHD I find my mind wandering whilst trying with utmost persistence to concentrate, this usually happens in the classroom as I have my peers to distract me and also at home where I can easily trick myself into taking short breaks to eat or play on my DS. This doesn't happen at the Ringwood library. The feng Shui is honestly remarkable, I get hella good vibes whenever I'm here and being a pisces I am very intuitive and a little bit psychic. The homely study nook spaces, sleek, modern Australian design with Scandinavian elements through the furnishings of the 3 storied library feature numerous couches, tables both with and without computers and make for the perfect space to get some proper work done. Being inside this library fills my child body with genuine joy, such a calming environment, I almost forget that there are crackhead eshays just opposite this wondrous work of architecture, by the station picking up cigarette buts from the floor and yelling obscenities at the elderly. Thank you whole heartedly to the City of Maroondah, i am forever in debt to you for giving me such a magical learning space.

This library rules are very harsh towards the defaulters and immediately debar your membership as soon as you have even 20c fine accrued on your account. You will not be able to renew any of your reservations after that and will end up adding more fine on your account until you return your overdue issues. I believe these rules are extremely unfair, or maybe I have been pampered by other libraries too much, whatever it is, my rating on this library goes as far as a mere 1 star due to its hostile fine/overdue policies. Stay away from this library unless you can be a stickler!!

Pros: the rare books guy, whose encyclopaedic knowledge of what's in his room and around the world impresses even the most jaded of students; the DVD section of the library, where one can borrow entire tv series for free, and a whole load of great movies as well; the reserve section, because the staff are kind. Cons: trying to print; trying to find a computer; trying to find a space to study for a group (especially if you need quiet). Actually, trying to find a quiet space to study sometimes. The stairs up to the literature section which go on forever.
