We have been dealing with Mt. Valley for two years now trying to get them to fix the original issue that we hired them to fix. They send different people who propose different solutions than the ones before and it's still not fixed! They are difficult to work with and do not seem to care about their customers once they get the money whether the job is completed right or not. I would definitely not recommend them and wish I had never used them. Two years later we have a sagging floor a stuck door and floors that creak worse than before!! I had A inspector come out about floor creaking issue and a crack in my wall at the same place, he told me to encapsulate my crawl space and get a humidifier. 12k later, yes 12 thousand. it has been less than a year and the cracks have reappeared and it's gotten worse with the house settling... to anyone I'd suggest reconsidering letting them help you fix your home. they also don't have warranties!!! just want your money!! on top of the crawl space they sealed has dirt coming through, if I'm going to pay so much, at least fix my issues and do the job correctly! Mount Valley was called to repair my foundation as I had soft spots and cracks in my floors. After paying them $16,000 for my 900 square foot home, I expected the work to be completed. however, a year later I'm having more soft spots and terrible creaking under my kitchen floor. I contacted two other foundation companies to come and inspect. Both representatives were shocked at the price I was charged and the poor quality of the work done. I'm trying to sell the house but due to the extensive foundation work that needs to be done, I've been unable to sell. This has caused significant hardship to me. Meanwhile, after several requests I got an itemized statement and in disbelief of the trumped up charges. Mount Valley claims to have done the work they said they would. You be the judge! read more

He was prompt, professional and provided details of what needed to be done with a drawing explaining all and a quote right on the spot. Every time I reached out to Carton after that first meeting regarding the task at hand, scheduling the work or just to answer questions...Carlton responded quickly. For anyone that might possibly be needing foundation work of any kind, I highly recommend Carlton Cission as the first point of contact. Shaun Dixon, Alex Hernandez, Milton Martin and Dre Nesbitt were the team assigned to replacing the entire foundation of the wedding venue restroom I hired Mount Valley for (from the interior floor to the dirt on the ground beneath...literally). 100% rotten through by years of undetected moisture from inadequate airflow and dehumidification. Shaun (the forman) was in constant communication with me throughout the entire process of rebuilding. He didn't just explain in words, he took time to visually point out the areas this construction would be addressing and what I should expect. Shaun was clear and concise in describing what was being done and answering all of my questions (which was many). My house flooded due to heavy rain which has never happened. Mitigation company suggested I contact Mount Valley to have an inspection of my concrete slab to make sure there wasn't a problem that allowed the water to enter. I called Mount Valley and they refused to come out and even inspect unless I saw visible cracks. The point of entry is covered with vinyl siding so I can't tell and don't really know what I'm looking for. Company not helpful and wouldn't even come assess. On to the next company. read more

I can't speak for the entire company, but the Columbia SC crew is mud! They will talk a good game about what they can do just yo get your money, but have no accountability behind their name or work. They said they would fix my cracking floor but didn't. They put in a few jacks and could care less about their word to repair the rest. They basically repaired what they wanted to repair and after being paid, will not return any of my phone calls. Get everything in writing if you choose to hire them and make sure your contract is correct! I was promised 0% financing for 12 months but my contract was written to say "cash payment." They told me they would match a cheaper quote but found every excuse not to honor it when I presented them with one. One contractor slammed my door after getting me to sign a document for payment. My advice is DO NOT HIRE THEM! read more

I called to schedule a appointment for a rep to come to my mother's house to review the issue with her brick. As I told the lady at Mt. Valley my mother will be home and responsible for everything and only that I would be with her. I was just calling to schedule an appointment. Nothing more. The rep at Mt. Valley said I had to have a power of attorney to schedule the appointment for my mother as that was required to allow them to step foot on her property. Never heard of something like that . . . just to schedule a look see; not do the actual work. I told her thanks but no thanks and that I will look elsewhere. If I was acting on behalf of my mother to sign the work order; yes that would have been prudent and reasonable. But a power of attorney for an estimate? Nonsense. read more

I was told that 3 people including a foreman would be coming -only 2 guys showed up. I work from home and I could hear them yelling while I was on a live video chat with my boss. There was a loud shaking noise & my wifi cut out. When I asked if they happen to have pulled a wire or something they immediately declined it and said they weren't even near any cords. I had to call spectrum who told me the internet cable was covered in dirt & ripped out of the wall. I missed 4 hours of work & had to pull 2 10 hour shifts to make up the time. Then, after "completing" the job I went to go & check it out & they didn't finish before sending a payment request. My 30 foot drainage pipe was only 19 feet & they did not install the 4th side of the drainage system in my crawlspace. I immediately contacted a service representative & when I requested a different crew she became very rude, said she would need to call me back, and then just hung up on me. She never called me back so a couple days later I called again. The new rep said there was only a record of a service request from the initial sales rep I had been updating from the beginning. They sent someone out and when I asked how I could've only had a 19 foot instead of 30 foot pipe installed they said the team didn't read the notes clearly written out for instructions for my house. When I asked how they could miss a whole side of my house I got honestly I don't know I'll have to ask them. He was unable to complete all of the work & said he would send out another crew. I then contacted the general manager & after sobbing on the phone she offered $500 off & no explanation on how it could've happened. I requested more & she said she would speak with her boss and call me back & as you could guess never did. I called again a couple days later and another manager offered 10% off which I accepted because at that point I was tired of this company. I had a great experience with the new crew and when I asked the foreman how it could've of happened he said they simply didn't do their jobs. The sales rep had told me from the beginning they get a bonus if they finish a job ahead of schedule. This company will treat you like garbage & will not ensure that you are treated with professionalism or that the integrity of your home matters at all. This company will happily take large sums of money to put in piers but not give you a written guarantee on issue being repaired. They will also make statements of giving you written guarantee but will not when asked and in fact will recommend you pay for an engineer to write the guarantee. If you use them, get a written guarantee upfront that after the work is done the issue will not rise again and the problem will be resolved completely. Also it seems the Office personal has no idea what the people in the field say or do. read more

Sadly disappointed. I called the Charleston division of mount valley because I had cracks in my ceiling. When they came out, I was told that water was getting under my house causing the ground to be soft and my house to settle unevenly. They said that the solution would be drainage and a sump pump.. Near the end of 2021, Mt.Valley came out and did the work and according to them my issues were fixed. That being said I went ahead and had my house jacked up and leveled, my floors done and my ceiling fixed. It s now 2024. Mount valley has been out to address my concerns of water still getting under the house several times. They have moved the sump pump twice and I am still having the same issue. Because the issue still persists, all of the work that I had done to my house, has been undone. I have let Mt. Valley Foundation know of my issue in detail. The manager I spoke to said that he looked at the notes and e could see all of the issues that I have had, so I am looking forward to see how they handle this. read more

I want to update my review because Phillip Maultbay, who does inspections, came out to investigate where the failure was and worked tirelessly to fix the issue. When the usual crew who would do the work were not available for an extended period of time Phillip would drive 1.5 hrs to my home to do the work himself. It took 2 trips and a couple of different solutions before I was able to observe the water coming into the room during a heavy rain. I realized that the water was intruding from an above grade wall as opposed to a below grade wall. This situation was atypical so I can no longer blame the company. They fixed the situation with no cost to me under Phillips urging and with the approval of his Manager Joe Manion. Phillip was a great help in solving the issue and went above and beyond. We discussed the issue of the company needing an emergency response solution, even if it is just a technician on the phone who can offer guidance and help in such stressful situations that occur after hours. The call center only makes appts. and is honestly not even familiar with the service centers hours of operation. I believe going forward the company will improve this issue, especially if Phillip advances. I would recommend them again based off of their willingness to solve the issue. Also, the dehumidifier that they installed works extremely well and evaporated the water that did come in pretty quickly. read more

Normally, I'm not a fan of leaving negative reviews like this. But, I've never had a company treat me this poorly in my 31 years on this earth. Something needs to be said. First, the crew's behavior was completely unacceptable - They left cigarette butts and food wrappers all over my lawn, constantly wasted my time being late, broke all of the vent covers to my crawlspace, and literally screamed the words "f**king p**sy" in front of a bunch of neighborhood kids (among many, many other things). Do not trust these people in your home. Second, the job itself was completely botched, and I have the City of Charleston inspection notes to prove it. Among other things, they only encapsulated part of the crawlspace, left standing water everywhere, set up the dehumidifier wrong, and they "installed" a jack under the house so poorly that I could literally push it out of place with one finger. Understandably, I got fed up and asked how I could go about cancelling the job. They never responded to that question - I didn't hear from them for almost 4 months after asking. So, I hired a local company to clean up their mess, at no small expense, and went on with my life. Then, out of the blue, after 4 months, they reached out and threatened to put a lien on my home if I didn't pay up. Just to be clear, they never even sent me a bill, and they still had my $2500 deposit. I didn't owe them a dime (if anything I want my damn deposit back). Yet, here they are making threats. And that, my friends, is why I'm writing this review. It's understandable if your crew drops the ball with a customer - not every job is going to go right, and even good employees have bad days. But, if you treat paying customers like absolute garbage, eventually people are going to speak up. Take your money somewhere else, Charleston. We have a house that needed foundation work repair some structural elements as well as adjusting. Jeremy came out and made recommendations INCLUDING recommending an engineer. Many foundation companies don't want an engineer involved. Not the case with Mount Valley. They came up with a plan to address the structural issues and help level the floor. The crew of Patrick L, Greg, and Bill, led by Shane, were professional, easy to work with, and had a great work ethic. I've been in that crawlspace and it is difficult conditions, but they did some complex and tough work required by the engineer that really improved the structure and look of the floor. Easy to work worth, following through, and standing beside their work, I would happily recommend Mount Valley to anyone looking to sort out their foundation issues. read more

I interviewed two prominent companies in my area to repair my foundation issues. I chose Mount Valley to do the work, and I'm happy I did. They were the right choice. There was an issue in the beginning with damaged beams that were not included in the estimate of work and price, and I was told that the missed damaged beams would be an extra charge, after I agreed to the initial proposed work and price. I was unhappy about that and made my position clear that the damage absolutely should have been seen and included in the price in the beginning. The company agreed and did the extra repairs at no additional charge To me. I'm happy with the result, the materials used and the work crew, and I would definitely use them again if needed. read more

Mount Valley installed 12 flood flaps on our property which we were instructed to do by our flood insurance company. 12 flaps cost over $7,000. You'd think for that price you would get exceptional quality of service but that is not the case. There was a discrepancy with how many flaps we should have installed. The insurance agent and myself tried reaching our contact Stewart Martin by phone, emails and text but he refused to respond. I called the office once a week for several weeks and spoke to Erin who made promises of a call back and response but again....crickets. At one point she said that Stewart responded but neither the insurance agent or myself received a response. This went on for months. Horrible customer service. I wish we could give a positive comment on the install but sadly we cannot. They had to dig out bricks to install some of the flaps. They left all the bricks and debris behind for us to clean up. They asked for a survey after the service so I left a review similar to this one and not a peep from anyone from that company. Awful experience. Stay away. read more
