Before Brian, everyone we met with was rigid, teaching to the test and frankly, off-putting. In our first meeting with Brian, we were immediately put at ease. His education/background matched with his experience and understanding of teenagers gave us so much confidence. His philosophy is simple, "If we work together, your student will do better on the SAT but, more importantly, he'll be a more confident, successful student. He'll be ready for college." She is patient and kind yet structured and knowledgeable. It's only her and her cute lil studio on Fremont so it's not a big chain business and there aren't numerous tutors to choose from but I have seen her in action. She didn't teach my daughter to memorize flashcards, she is teaching my daughter math strategies that are fun. My daughter now loves doing math and looks forward to meeting with her. My daughter has been doing Kumon with Debbie since the summer after second grade. She started with…read morethe math program and, as a seventh grader, is currently working more than three years above grade level. A couple years ago, she begged to do the reading program too and worked hard to complete it within a year. Doing Kumon has given her confidence in her math skills, accuracy and speed. She isn't a huge fan of the extra homework that she does daily as she works to complete the math program, but she loves being the kid in her school math class that all the other kids turn to when they need help. She loves easily earning top scores at school. While the Kumon program is the same no matter which center you choose, the centers are not all the same. Debbie brings a warmth and encouragement (for both student and parent!) that we didn't see when we visited other Kumon centers. All her assistants go the extra mile for the kids. I don't think my child would have succeeded the way she has without Debbie's personal attention and encouragement. Debbie always knows whether my child needs to be pushed harder or given additional support, when E is slacking off or overwhelmed. I highly recommend Kumon in general and Kumon of Lake Grove specifically.

He attended one year of preschool, one year of kinder supplement and continued to go once a week in first grade for reading tutoring. He loves reading and is years above his grade level. My daughter started Kiner Prep when she was 2.5 years old, since we totally sold. She is now in kindergarten, still attends in the afternoon as a supplement and is reading at a second grade level. Her math is the end of a first grade level. The best part is that both my kids LOVED going- there was never a groan or complaint- ever. We have also attended summer class offerings that were very helpful to bridge the gap. Miss Andrea is amazing and a very talented teacher. I would trust her with my child anytime, anywhere. She has an ability to create a loving and safe environment for children to prosper.
