It is a nice view, especially from North Kinsman…read more 9.5 mile, out and back via Kinsman Mountain Trail, 3700 feet elevation gain. There are two peaks: North Kinsman and South Kinsman Mountain: 9.5 miles is if you go to both. It starts in the forest: it is pretty mossy forest. The trail is typical White's rocky trail. In spring still there is a monorail in mid-May after Bald peak. If you go to only Bald peak, it is 4.2 miles out and back, which is a nice short hike.

The locals refer to it as lower acusshnet falls (not spelling it right) but it's absolutely AMAZING…read more& there is no way they want tourists to know about this spot- because there aren't really maps or directions. It sort of just comes up as white mountains park. You pull into a parking lot and you walk about .25 of a mile and you begin to see little spots on the rocks where individuals and families are camped out or have their towels set up. There is a natural water slide with gentle rapids making it just the right amount of fun without being scary! My son LOVED IT. You can bring tubes or water toys- which make it great- I can seen kids as young as 1 going down! The only thing that made me nervous was kids falling & possibly hitting there head- because during my visit- we helped save a man who slid down on his but & hit his head and was knocked out cold face down unconscious in the water & we turned him over and he eventually came to! One of the members of our group also saved his son- who was just drifting really far away on his raft. The views and water are crystal clear and beautiful! This is a BEYOND BEAUTIFUL SPOT- a definite must see for locals AND TOURISTS! Just be careful because rocks can be slippery and it can be dangerous. I'd say to stick with groups & if you're going alone just make sure someone knows!

Profile Lake is a beautiful spot that is designated only for fly fishing (trout). this is also…read morefamous for the old man of the mountain, but that collapsed in 2003. the north side of the lake the "tourist side". That is where the viewing area of the "Old Man of the Mountain" was for years. The viewing area is still there and is accessible from the parking lots of the Cannon Mountain tramway. Unfortunately, the "Old Man" is gone. His visage literally fell off the side of the mountain that he inhabited for millennia.

Once on the trail, there are few views, until you reach the summit, then the views are spectacular. The peak itself is quite interesting to hang out and picnic on. This is also part of the Appalachain trail There are several tent sites near the peak, that I believe are first come and first served. They looked really cool! I have heard during peak seasons, rangers will do grocery runs to keep you moving without leaving the trail. We did not camp, this was a day hike for us. In the book I had used to navigate the trail, it incorrectly says the trail is under 6 miles round trip=wrong. It is under 9 miles round trip on the shortest path. This is a pretty intense hike, so plan accordingly. Also there were black flies and mosquitos on top- bring bug spray. As always when hiking large peaks, tell someone where you are going and check the weather conditions. The ranger stations are always full of information. You can also buy your National Forest usage fees there, not needed for this hike, but many spots in the White Mountain National forest do require a parking pass.

Relax on the beach or take a dip on a warm summer day. we were here in October and it was amazing to see all the colors. enjoy the beauty of a 39-acre lake with an excellent view. The slopes of the Cannon Mountain ski area drop right to the edge of the lake, and the view highlights where the Franconia Range and Kinsman Range meet, creating the notch. On the lake shores, you also have the option to rent canoes and kayaks for $20/hour or pedal boats for $25/hour. Parking: on busy days, you might have to wait 10-20 minutes to get to the parking spot.

There's a great grass area to picnic and set up chairs and whatnot (even a few covered picnic areas, but those go pretty quick). The roped off swim area has three entrances (two with steps and one with"beach entry"). The majority of swim area is very shallow (less than 4'), but there are sections close to the rope where it gets quite deep. The lake floor in the swim area is incredibly soft sand with very little rocks. Only con I can think of is I'm not sure if there is a restroom on site (we didn't need one while we were there, but I didn't see any obvious structures).

So this is just a huge rock BUT how it was formed makes you think how amazing our world is…read more Anyways, signs are clear for the direction for this BUT you could only access if you are northbound of I-93, use the exits at flume gorge if you are from the north and traversing the southbound. There is also a viewing deck which we did not see how far it goes. Parking space is not alot but people would not stay long after taking pics
