Dr. Zunka came in and said I had to do more x-rays in order to get a cleaning done and when I asked him to explain why, he said "so I don't lose my license." I was floored and nearly in tears as I left because I came to this practice believing it was a holistic dentistry but many of his protocols are questionable. Even the ADA no longer recommends routine x-rays for no reason.

Because I had been unable to get a cleaning for a little while, she was even thoughtful enough to split my cleaning into two different appointments with two separate codes for insurance so that my teeth and gums would not be unnecessarily aggravated. My mother had work done with Dr Hershman and scheduled me for a cleaning with her. I was around 16 at the time (this is 10+- years ago). As a young kid, my teeth werent spotless, but the aggressive cleaning by Dr Hershman was done with such a lack of care and aggressiveness that I remember it to this day. She would dig into my gums so roughly the pain was like 100/10. I told her I was in pain yet she seemed to not care and continue torturing me. No easing up, no local numbing, just HAMMERING away. I ended up ripping the pads from the arm rest's and leaving fingernail marks on it from gripping it so hard. Nightmarish experience, Ive had many cleanings before and after and NEVER had pain like that.

I've been attending Dr. Ellen Kelly since January but waited on my review because I didn't want to…read morejinx things. Now though the full outcome of the subsequent work Dr. Kelly did for me (today Nov. 20) remains to be seen I feel compelled to share my experience at this practice and with this super smart and wonderful practitioner. First of all, because the root canal I needed done by Dr. Kelly was on roots that go in weird directions she had her work cut out for her. Yet, wow did Dr. Kelly patiently embrace the challenges of that, gently trying to reach all angles of my roots. More importantly all the while she communicated clearly and honestly, including not promising her work would succeed. As valuable to me too was that several times in the past year when I needed reassurance about the progress or not of the healing she willingly had me come in to check things out. Then when she felt things weren't healing satisfactorily she wanted to do today's procedure (an apicoectomy) to try and reach the root end that couldn't be reached the regular root canal route. Now having had two procedures with Dr. Kelly and witnessed her consummate skill with these gnarly procedures, that she manages with a lively, caring, and sometimes wonderfully humorous demeanor, I feel she deserves this review even if this work fails too. And of course if it succeeds it will only be thanks to this gifted practitioner. Thank you SO much Dr. Kelly for making this journey much less stressful. Thank you Schuyler, for your warmth and what you do by Dr. Kelly's side. Yor are an invaluable presence during these procedures. Also, thank you Cindy, and Kelsey (forgive me if my spelling is incorrect) for how responsive you are on the phone and when I arrive for my appointments. Your presences are much needed too. I…read morecan truly say after having several extractions followed with by the implants, I never had a single second of pain or even discomfort. Lots of bruising and swelling, but no pain. The office is exceptionally clean and personnel delightful. When I needed a graft done recently, I had no reservations about going back when my dentist said what I needed to have done. I would recommend highly. Hope I dont have to go back but if I do, will feel quite at ease with whatever Dr Kelly needed to do.

His suggestion was to 'patch' the tooth and no offer to replace the chipped tooth. When his brother Dr Vic was told about the situation, his only offer was to 'patch' the tooth as well. The tooth was 'patched' twice which did not work and no other assistance was offered.

On a positive note my surgery was successful and seems to be holding well…read more On a constructive note and a word of caution to all new patients - Vic Saunders did not wear a mask and spit in my mouth during the procedure while he was talking and laughing at jokes made between him and the assistant. I asked him about this after and he refused to wear one saying it messed with his glasses. I will not be going back. I think patients should know this prior to visiting that this periodontist refuses to wear a mask.
