So today I walked to the tip of this mount. It's literally about 2 hours I believe. But the view at the top of the fire tower was spectacular, a bit windy but the wind helped cool me and my lady off. Anyway there's not much more I can say, but go visit, bring your hiking boots, walking sticks, water and some friends. Be careful of slippery rocks and take your time going up the trail. Oh yeah if you think kids can't do this they can I saw as young as 5 year old kids doing this so don't worry the kids were having fun running up and down this thing. Oh yeah take it slow going down choose your steps. Other than that have a great hike. read more
Nice view from the top. There are many ways to go to the summit: most people climb only 1.5 miles since it is the shortest. I did 6.2 mile loop from the different trailhead. That was much more peaceful and enjoyable to see green. In May, there is no snow and everything is getting green. Very nice. read more

Man first hand let me say when it says mountain boy does it mean it. It was pretty much all up hill to the top with places sometimes where it was more flat but right from I would say almost the first part it was all uphill. We went up at the amc lodge as a group. Our bus driver was nice and they were nice, they let him park on the side of the parking lot. Then we really got going, Id heard some blogs say "moderate family" yeah maybe a family of mountain lions, would not recommend for small kids because some of the (mostly) up hill parts were really steap and rocky. Then first we got to the firescrew and the view was good although we thought we got there the first time and realized it wasnt it. Then it was like "okay now to the top." got closer and closer and AHA FINALLY! Ate lunch then went back down good thing I wasnt totally in charge of directions or we would have for sure got lost but my friend Joe pointed us right with his GPS - theres a lot of trails that intersect. Anyway a good hike if you want to climb a mountain, probably the highest point for a while so you can really see a lot. We ended up paying more than we needed to for the bus because some of our coworkers couldnt come. Make sure to get a head count before you book your bus if your taking a bus or other multiperson transit. read more
