It is also pet friendly with an additional charge of $20 per night. They updated the furniture, and the bed is very plush and cozy. My wife and I had a great night sleep. The pool was open, and the water was a bit cold, but you got used to it. There's a deep end about 5 feet and 6 inches. Beware if you are swimming with young children. There's no life guard on duty. There are pool towels available. The entrance to the pool requires a hotel card to swipe. The mechanism was not working. You need to wait for the front desk to open for you. There's a pub inside this hotel. Pipers Arms serving English pub fare and some great daily and happy hour specials. We enjoyed some wings and pints after 9 pm. I would recommend staying here if you would like to explore PEC or visit the CFB Trenton Aerospace Museum. This hotel is right off the hwy 401. The attractions are close by, and this hotel checks off all the boxes. There are also many fast food and restaurants within walking distance to the hotel.

There is a pool at the front of the hotel and a fitness room near near the back (I wasn't there long enough to get to use them). My room was on the lower floor (the reception/lobby is on the main floor) and there is an elevator. It was quite a walk to my room through lots of winding hallways (so I got lots of steps). When we arrived the manager told us we had the last room available of that kind, that the only other room available was the honeymoon suite. Anyway, we got our key, went to our room and as soon as we opened the door there was an overwhelming smell of strong perfume. Due to allergies, we couldn't stay in the room so we went back to the front desk to get a room change. When we told them about the smell the manager now told us he did have another room available with a king bed, but that we'd have to pay $30 extra for it. After some discussion, he insisted the only room available was for extra money. We refused and left. As an aside, there is some noticeable mould on the hall walls on the bottom floor.

My bladder asked me to pull over at this rest stop, so I did. It was pretty busy, as expected when it's a long weekend. I parked further than I normally do and walked in. The women's washroom was clean. There were plenty of stalls. It has Dyson hand dryers. There's a Tim Hortons at this rest stop. There was quite the lineup. Other than that, I didn't see anything that I wanted to visit, so I left. As with most OnRoute stops, there are plenty of tables and chairs to sit down and eat, or take a breather.
